I will say that Slip Through Space slipped my mind (see what i did tho), and im certain it will find a place in here. so thanks!

Durp! Haha... That's funny, I don't know how I didn't notice it.
And I found out so fast because I super loved your idea of intro decks from the start, so I started following you (you get a notification when someone adds a deck).
Consider it flattering that I was so excited to vomit my two cents that I didn't even wait for you to finish. Haha.

it's all good, mate. I'm glad you could help! you actually changed my mind on the direction of this build a little bit with that card suggestion. =D

I'm loving this series! I've been playing magic for a few years now, but there is still so much that I haven't explored and guides like these are great because I can easily afford a deck like this to try out a new deck style.
Have you thought about Shrine of Burning Rage for this deck? The majority of your cards have red in them, so might be worth it.

Because this is an intro deck, which i assume is to teach new players how to play the game, I feel like the addition of a singleton Planeswalker would be beneficial in order to introduce a different card type. Something like Ral Zarek would be my suggestion. Anyways, I really like the deck and have been looking to make an intro series of decks to teach some of my friends and I'll probably consider using this one. I really like the addition of Gitaxian Probe because it introduces phyrexian mana and alternate cost spells. Nice job, and a +1 from me. You should definitely keep making decks like these for all the color combinations.

lithium142,
LOVE the intro series, and this deck in particular! +1!
ChiefBell and others are trying to get more content on T/O, and I seriously think you should consider building these decks with an accompanying article ...

You want a series about budget decks in modern?
I hear you loud and clear.
March 21, 2016 7:41 a.m.
Thanks Chief!
Also lithium142, are you familiar with The Cheap Deck Club.? If not, I recommend touching base with Atony1400 as well.
March 21, 2016 8:14 a.m.
Yeah, I agree with clayperce. A modern budget deck article series would be awesome, and I'd love if my page was involved!

Have you thought about adding Paradise Mantle? Turning Blistercoil Weird into the best mana producer in your deck.
March 21, 2016 9:57 a.m.
Mutagenic Growth? Satyr Hoplite?
Hoplite is a permanent prowess basically.

I think the reason they use Blistercoil Weird over Satyr Hoplite is because the flexibility of the mana cost and the fact that you can have some combat tricks with the weird. Also in order to get the satyr bigger you have to use spells that target and you must use it on him to get him bigger whereas the weird gets pumped by casting an instant or sorcery in general Bovine073
March 21, 2016 1:29 p.m.
That may be true, but if you just target the hoplite in the first place all your other prowess triggers activate normally.

Dude, c'mon. Drop Riverfall Mimic for Kiln Fiend. This would be recklessly better. +1 from me all the way. I like what you are doing here, but kiln fiend man. Kiln fiend.

cycle. go to work. come back to fifteen comments?! XD holy cow!
we'll start from the top i suppose
Birdsturnone, CheeseBro, Sergal ~ I was avoiding Kiln Fiend for cost reasons, as i'm not willing to drop below 3 Gitaxian Probes and the rest of the deck is either too core to replace, or not worth anything. I'll just pose it as a question to all of you. the best way to make this swap would be to cut 1x Stormchaser Mage, all 3x Riverfall Mimic and all 3x Clout of the Dominus and put in 4x Kiln Fiend, and 3x Apostle's Blessing. This would put the deck about $4 over budget. my question is simply whether you think that is acceptable or not?
Acebaur ~ thank you for the suggestion. I dont think i'll put that in just because most of our noncreature spells are blue, so it could easily become a dead card.
CheeseBro ~ delver is a different build and a different deck. dont worry, we will likely have mono blue delver in the future =P Thank you for the idea, tho! =D
MADMatt7777 ~ Thanks! i'm trying to keep things diverse! Ral Zarek is an much better card in the midrange version of this deck. If you drew him in this build, (more often than not) you would wish he was any other spell. I appreciate the suggestion, tho. I will put planeswalkers in a few of these decks.
clayperce, ChiefBell, Atony1400 ~ I wasn't familiar with The Cheap Deck Club.. but you've certainly piqued my interest! =) as far as "an accompanying article" goes; I can only guess at what you mean. The community side of Tappedout is something i only recently started looking at. If any of you care to explain, i'm all ears and i'll gladly do what i can. that said, thanks to all of your for the support!
SorinMysticRush ~ um, i didnt until you said that! I honestly dont think i would have seen that interaction on my own, anyway. XD That's just awesome! I'll give it some playtesting, and i'll get back to you on this one.
Bovine073 ~ Thank you for the suggestions! Mutagenic Growth is an excellent card for this style of deck, and i actually had it in the first version of this deck that i put up. I opted to go for a more cantrip based build, but you arent wrong, it fits this this style of combo extremely well, and depending on later changes, it might see its way back in. As for Satyr Hoplite; i played him in a budget standard deck around Fate Reforged' release, very similar to this build Turn 3 kill with no rares! [Retired] (though mine was r/w). That said, he could be excellent in a build where you were running cards like Brute Force, Titan's Strength, ect. If i put him in this build, i would have to revert most of the deck to make him worth it.
EvilHippie ~ thank you for the idea! I actually did a quick swap and test in the middle of typing this cuz i really wanted to see if it would work. unfortunately, in 6 hands, I was only able to flash it back once; so im thinking i'll keep more consistency by just digging 3 cards straight up.
Thanks to everyone for supporting this series! I didnt realize there were so many people looking for something like this, but im really glad you can all appreciate this as much as i do. =D
March 21, 2016 9:35 p.m.
As far as your question goes to me... that is extremely worth it. Beyond so if you ask me.
March 21, 2016 9:42 p.m.
Believe me. Kiln fiend is waaaayyyy too powerful to not abuse. My burn deck features kiln fiend as the pinnacle, and is the number one deck on the site right now. He is really really good. I'd be willing to bet that if he had haste, he would be banned in modern just saying.
March 21, 2016 9:44 p.m.
No problem, lithium142, glad to help! By an article, I believe clayperce means that ChiefBell should look into writing an article about it.
On a completely unrelated note, I think you got alot of attention because prowess seems to be rising in the modern meta (against the many varieties of Eldrazi). Look for it to get bigger, as more cards with prowess come out because it's now evergreen!
March 21, 2016 9:47 p.m.
lithium142,
I meant that you should seriously write an article on the deck, and maybe even a series of articles on the deck series. Your deck description is already a great start. ChiefBell can help point you in the right direction/connect you to others if you want to take that on. Here is a thread on it if you want more info.

Have you thought about twisted image? It is a cheap card that gets rid of Spellskite, Makes Stormchaser a 4/2, and replaces itself. An amazing card for this deck.

Spellheart Chimera instead of Riverfall Mimic.
maybe some Slip Through Space
And think about (if you are doing the chimera especially) Clout of the Dominus.
First thoughts here, but it looks like a great list to start out with!
