Grindclock and Mind Sculpt are the mill part of the control. Magma jet is a decent card but I think Searing Blood is better. I appreciate your advice and thank you for commenting

Why do you add a win con that is slow, and can easily be raced by damage? You should do one of two things. You can go full out mill, which is how mill will win, or you can go the damage route. Also, Magma Jet can be sent to the face and can set up future turn. I'm not sure about the current standard meta, but Searing Blood is a good sideboard card, but really shouldn't be played main. Magma Jet is a card that can be run main, and is just better than trying to run a mill win-con, without going full mill.

Spellheart becomes a dud once you shuffle your gy into your library same with Spite.
Thunderbreak Regent may be a good fit as it has a drawback to beimg targeted which fits the burn/control theme.

Just think of it this way. The 4 Mind Sculpt will mill 28 cards. The average time it takes for the Grindclock to get good is about 5 turns. You'll draw on average about 1-2 of each of these cards in a game. That's about 17 turns to win. Most decks should win within the first 10. That's a little slow. If you go just straight up damage, you have a faster "clock"(like Grindclock.. Sorry had to do it).

Nice pun. I just needed something to cover lifegain decks. Thank you for your consideration.

I agree with others, in that you should include 2 Magma Jet's. they're a Lightning Strike for one less damage, but the scry 2 is essential. Good Luck!

GabeCubed I took your advice and changed Grindclock to Magma Jet , but I'd rather use Cancel than Dissolve right now because I'm trying to conserve as much money as I can.

Alright. Must be super budgeting then. As soon as you can get your hand on the other 2 Dissolve, replace them.

Yeah, I have a group of friends that I play with and I'm going to ask them if they have any to trade. Most of the cards in this deck I have, all I need is the 2 Keranos, God of Storms, the 2 Dissolve, and 1 Chandra, Pyromaster

When the new set comes out, I would highly suggest adding in Jace, Vryn's Prodigy Flip to the deck. He would be great and easy to achieve when you have all of the instants/sorceries in the deck.
Also, I would suggest cutting your counterspells down a bit. When you have too many counterspells, they can just become dead draws later in the game. I would take out 3 Cancels and 2 Negates and add in 4 Anticipates, Dig Through Times, or Treasure Cruises. They can get you to your goal faster.
The Flamewake Phoenix's seem out of place in this deck. You only have a couple of creatures that can abuse the Phoenix ability, but even then they are circumstantial. Keranos can only be a creature if you you have permanents on the battlefield. However, if you find that they work, then no need to change them.
These are only a few suggestions. Hope these help. :)

Replace that one cancel in main and side with another dissolve. If dissolves are too pricey you could go with Mindswipe or Clash of Wills. Don't think stoke fits in the side. Maybe replace with Rending Volley or Roast.
Other than that hope no one sides any Tormod's Crypt against you.

Hey man. Check this out for Counter/Burn. Its what i do and it is very good competitively. I know you are budget but Chandra can replace Sarkhan. +1 Izzet colors! You can drop white and fill with whatever you need.

Mind Sculpt and Grindstone seem very weak. I'd replace them with Dissolve and Magma Jet.
