Gd I love that title.

My suggestions:

  • Replace one of your 2 drop mana dorks with Skyshroud Elf. It's the best mana dork for naya colors IMO.

  • Since I don't see the hard care mana cards like Mana Crypt or Ancient Tomb I'm guessing this isn't designed to be hyper-competitive so I would also lose two of the 1 drop dorks and replace them with Gruul Signet and Selesnya Signet. T1-4 are usually just mana ramping turns anyways so why not use some more resilient forms of ramp.

  • Krosan Grip and Eternal Witness are auto includes in every single deck I own that runs green and I've never played a game where either card hasn't come in handy. As long as cards likeNevinyrral's Disk, Oblivion Stone, and Pernicious Deed exist they'll stay auto-includes, too.

Thanks! :D Glad you like the title! . I'll adress each suggestion individually. (:

Skyshroud Elf is definitely appealing, but the only 2-drop mana dorks I run are Utopia Tree and Druid of the Anima, and both of those do what the elf wants, but without having to tap 1 if I want R/W. :/ Perhaps I could drop a 1-drop?

If I had Mana Crypt or Ancient Tomb, you better believe they'd go in here. lol Signets are great, but going back to the Skyshroud Elf, should I really drop more of my 1-drops? :O

Krosan Grip is something I completely derped up and forgot about. xD Of course it's an auto include! Just gotta drop something for it! As for Eternal Witness, hmm. What would you boot?

Skyshroud Elf can use the green mana it produces and filter it into red or white mana similar to how Mutavault can activate itself. For all intents and purposes it reads "Tap for G, R or W mana. Convert G, R of W mana into the R or W mana of your choice." In this regard, Skyshroud Elf is strictly better than Druid of the Anima (and Utopia Tree since the other two colors are irrelevant).

Star Compass could also be used in lieu of a signet. The signets really come down to personal preference, though. Most of my commander games are 3-4 player with heavy removal and creatures dont stay on the field very long. I'm also not in a race to be the first guy with a threat on the board since it paints a giant bullseye on your face. Also, if in the future you do get some sweet cards like Mana Crypt you'll want more colorless mana sources in your deck to soft combo into. When your T1 play is Ancient Tomb->Sol Ring->Signet things get pretty nasty really fast. In a cutthroat race for mana, dorks will feel more like a speed bump than a ramp.

Whatever you pull for Eternal Witness should be a 3-drop or a 1-drop since those are messin up your curve the most. Usually, the best card to pull out will be the really good card you keep in your hand most games but never play because it's too situational or you do play but it doesn't do much to effect the board. At first glance, it looks like you have an overage of spell effects that regenerate or make your commander indestructible. I think that's where I would start trimming.

Mkay. So I messed around with it. Not a big fan of Star Compass. If I can get my hands on it though, I do plan to add all the colorless mana stuff. I'm fully aware of the importance. lol Thanks for taking the time to comment and leave a +1 if you like! :D

Aren't you forgetting Replenish ?

Didn't even know about it. lol What might you suggest dropping?

Another good tutor is Idyllic Tutor, however it is pretty spendy.

If I get my hands on one, for sure. (: +1 if you like!

Absolutely no idea :/ In any case, it's better than Retether. The only aura I see I would take out would be vow of lightning but I'm not sure...

Nah, Vow can get the cut. (: 28 enchantments is still a good number. Good call! Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm a bit surprised you're running sub-par mana dorks like Skyshroud Elf over green staples like Bloom Tender, Somberwald Sage and Lotus Cobra. Skyshroud is really only playable if you're running a bunch of lands / rocks that tap for colorless, in which case he can (once in a great while) be slightly useful. Otherwise, he's one of the worst dorks available to Naya.

Have you considered Wheel of Fortune? It's great as a turn 2-3 hand refiller after you dump your lands and dorks. It's still insanely broken late game as well if you're having trouble getting and keeping your repeating card engines like Kor Spiritdancer out. There's a reason it's restricted in type one and banned outright in type two. It's essentially an auto-include in any nearly any red-based deck, from Purphorous, to Uril, to 5-color combo. You might consider it over Ghostly Prison. Pillow forts really aren't that great unless you're deliberately building around slowing the game down (IE, an Oloro control deck). Since Uril plays best as an aggressive voltron commander, the card is redundant. Better to use the slot for another Uril buff like Spirit Mantle, or even a utility card like Oblivion Ring.

To be more competitive you need evasion. Ethereal Armor - Blessing of the Nephilim - Ancestral Mask only makes Uril stronger, but Holy Mantle - Spirit Mantle - Serra's Embrace and Asha's Favor makes him pretty much unblockable. You place 1 aura on Uril and he gets at least 7/7. He kills with 3 hits. We don't need that much extra power to win, especially if he can't hit the opponent because of his creatures. The biggest weakness of Uril are sacrifice effects and counterspells. Your deck is great anyway :)

You are missing Jungle Shrine - Contested Cliffs - Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion. I'm not sure if you really need Reliquary Tower and your legendary lands.

You should check my Uril Voltron deck. (I don't know how to make a link to the deck)... It's strong and fun, using unusual cards like Lapse of Certainty and Reverberate. I have a lot of removal and ramp but not a lot of creatures, focusing on the 21 commander damage for the win.

Anyway. Uril, the Miststalker is my first EDH deck, I tried to optimize it as much as I could, even if it's almost only for duel commander and I really enjoy it.

Thank you for the feedback and I will most certainly consider your suggestions. A couple suggestions that I'm not entirely fond of: Holy Mantle, Asha's Favor, and Jungle Shrine. The others, I'll playtest. Ethereal Armor stays because it fits the theme and can make Uril get really big. (: Be sure to +1 if you like! Link to your deck?

I don't know what you are usually playing against (I play against Grand Arbiter Augustin IV or Savra, Queen of the Golgari). That's why I play with more removals and prefer protection/evasion over having a lot of damage. Maybe you could also use Kessig Wolf Run if you need more trample...

Anyway, here is my deck :

I would urge you to reconsider Holy Mantle as it is really good on Uril.

Cheers

It's a maybe. I'd have to drop something worthwhile for it so, any suggestions? +1 if you like! (:

Open the Vaults could be good, but I could see it being a double edged sword.

Yeah, that and I don't run enough artifacts to justify it. :/ Appreciate the suggestion though!

Maybe the big scary Atarka, World Render? She can wreck face fast. She could be another target for pants if Uril gets too expensive.

KCisSICKnasty says... #22

Hmm. Idk. There's nothing I really feel she justifies dropping. Kor Spiritdancer and Hero of Iroas are good alternatives if Uril somehow does get that torched.
