Am i missing something with Jeweled Amulet . I realize its a Mox Sapphire with urza in play but, so is Mishra's Bauble , Lodestone Bauble , Welding Jar and Urza's Bauble all atleast do something be it protect or draw a card. Lodestone Bauble can be looped to kill with twister with unbounded draws and mana. All seem like upgrades to Amulet unless i am missing a combo with it.

Servbot40 The difference between Jeweled Amulet and the cards that you listed, is that none of the cards in your list can actually produce a mana advantage at all. On the other hand, Jeweled Amulet offers the ability to bank mana for a later turn in order to accelerate toward casting Urza faster, as well as becoming a Mox Sapphire after Urza is in play.

Thoughts on Arcum's Astrolabe?

Would love to see the tutor-mages added to the "Why do you NOT run X" section!

I'm also not so familiar with Recurring Insight as a mono-blue staple. Would love some more insight on this choice.

sickrobot to that end would Svyelunite Temple or Crystal Vein be too janky? They would function similarly to Saprazzan Skerry in the land slot to ramp to your general. Vein drawn on turn 3 could at least come into play untapped.

Hissp looking at the build it seems casting tutor mages may be too slow, other than Fabricate all other tutor options put scepter/engine into play. All the tutors other than Tezzeret the Seeker create a clue off Trail of Evidence , and tezz is too strong not to run. Finally the deck has no way to utilize the body of the mages other than blocking tymna etc. T

TLDR The mages are low tempo low synergy.

Tribute Mage isnt bad, its just too narrow. If you look at the list, it simply doesn't fetch enough relevant cards to our strategy to justify slotting in the main deck. At 3cmc, there is too much superior competition in terms of artifact tutors that can hit ANY artifact in our list, as opposed to 2cmc only, which realistically in this build will always be iso stick and never anything else (because fetching a stax effect is counter intuitive to our objectives). The lack of versatility is just damning unless we were to add more diverse options for it to fetch.

Can we make room for Buried Ruin given that we rely on Scepter and Paradox Engine to get the engine going?

procy says... #12

Dafufu I run them both and also a carvern of souls for Urza.

Dafufu we already have Time Spiral and Timetwister For that and if you can affort Timetwister ,then Echo of Eons is a good replacement. Altho you could swap out 1 Island if you realy wanted to.

I am planning to replace Blast Zone instead of an island. How good has Blast Zone been for you guys?

So what's Engine being replaced with? Also, is Painter combo worth considering?

ToffMcSoft says... #16

KillDatBUG I replaced Engine with Basalt Monolith. List here: Urza Feeling Lucky - cEDH Primer #1 Mono Blue Fits very well.

Klancik says... #17

I think putting in Power Artifact for Engine is the way to go. It will pair with Grim Monolith and if necessary Basalt Monolith can be swapped in for something if we really need another piece for it.

How about adding Rings of Brighthearth to Combo with Basalt Monolith?

July 8, 2019 5:35 p.m.

So with the Paradox Engine ban how is this deck going to do? Does Engine leaving kill it or is there workable replacements?

July 8, 2019 11:18 p.m.

TheAlteredMind: The deck should be fine, considering Paradox Engine was more of a back up plan. We're discussing replacements on the Urza discord. I'm sure the authors will post an update soonish, once a definitive replacement is found.

Something that would be cool to hear feedback on is a relative sense of impact. The consensus was that Urza REPLACED Teferi as top U commander. Is that still the case? By that logic has Teferi been dead since sometime before Urza's printing, if multiple people suggest that losing Paradox Engine could even possibly kill this deck?

July 9, 2019 7:13 p.m.

Paradox replacement?

July 10, 2019 7:55 a.m.

ToffMcSoft says... #23

TheGooseManWells - I went ahead and replaced PE w/ Basalt Monolith as I already had PA & Grim Monolith in my build. Here's the list: Urza Feeling Lucky - cEDH Primer #1 Mono Blue

Hissp While Teferi is still extremely strong Urza's power level is far superior. The problem with Teferi is the deck is shut down way too easy. Urza has a lot more versatility and can win off multiple lines where Teferi's one and done chain veil is very easy to stop.

What are you grabbing with Intuition ?

Seems like Seat of Synod would be a no brainer, good with the artifact tutors that require sac fodder, also counts as an artifact for the construct urza makes
