Norn's Annex for Propaganda? Or Windborn Muse if you splash a little white.

Ive been considering splashing this deck white for the longest time. I want to maybe add Wall of Omens , Path to Exile and Supreme Verdict plus some SB cards.

I'm not so sure Propaganda is really worth replacing though...

Add more Remand .

You perhaps don't need Elixir of Immortality .

Consider replacing Stormtide Leviathan with Lone Revenant which has a useful ability and is hexproof, or perhaps even Tromokratis .

Consider Halimar Depths

Lose a Repeal or two. You could add one Whelming Wave

Also you don't really need Spellskite - what with all those counters.

You know what's hilarious? Splashing like 5 green lands to add Quirion Dryad . That can really make the opponent sweat.

I really like Elixir of Immortality as it adds another EOT option if I'm not countering or drawing. Plus it prevents self-mil which can happen quite easily in long games.

Loving the Halimar Depths as that could be extremely useful late game.

I'm liking Tromokratis and will pick one up for the SB. I switch the MB win-con creatures around all the time so it'll fit in nicely. Lone Revenant too.

I know Repeal isn't that good but I like the draw in addition to the bounce. Whelming Wave could be good. I'll have to think on that one. Not sure if it's actually needed though.

Spellskite is here cause this deck faces Infect quite often.

I'm planning to add the other 2 remands eventually. Just trying to trade for them instead of spend.

July 6, 2014 5:57 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #8

That's fair enough. It's probably the best counterspell in modern.

July 6, 2014 5:59 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #9

You realise, ironically (given your usual deck choice), that this deck will just lose to Abrupt Decay right?

Good thing I got Spellskite !

Actually I go back and forth on the Delvers. When they're good, they flat out win games. When they're bad they just suck.

Plan to pick up the other 2 Faerie Conclave s & will probably throw my Mutavault s in here once rotation hits. Though truthfully once some of my other decks are finished I plan to turn this into U/W control for Celestial Colonnade , Path to Exile , Supreme Verdict and potentially Wall of Omens .

Looks fun for casual play, but why is it called Urza?

Blind Seer

It's just a name referencing a blue deck.

Um, have enough counter spells? :) People playing around counter magic will have you beat, i.e. Aether vial, cavern of souls, and when your tapped out.

APPLE01DOJ says... #14

Definitely but this is only a casual deck which serves as practice vs control decks. Given the high amount of counters it accomplishes that rather well. Besides it makes it more fun and there is 6 bounce spells for anything that get's thru. This deck is almost never tapped out. All the cantrips stock your hand and make sure u hit all of your mana drops. EOT actions typically always put a card or two in your hand.

That being said, I can constantly beat this deck by playing around the counters like u said. I play against this deck almost daily though. To people who aren't prepaired for it it can be a steam roller, especially game 2 when alternate win-cons come in.

The thing this deck really wants is a board wipe though...

With the name of this deck, I assumed you'd be using the Urza lands. (ie: Urza's Mine, Urza's Tower, and Urza's Power Plant)

In fact, this deck is already very similar to Mono-U Tron. Urza lands are referenced as Tron land, fyi. It's mono-blue control that relies on having way more mana than your opponent to be able to cast things like Repeal, Condescend, overloaded Cyclonic Rift and win-cons like Platinum Angel and Sundering Titan. Mono-U Tron (Modern<$300) is my version if you want to check it out for some ideas. It's much more powerful against decks that can play around counters because it runs a toolbox that Treasure Mage can fetch into to grab whatever you need for your current situation.

I actually already have a good tron list UNFΔIR TRON DECK 2 BUY

This deck actually shares it's mana base with my control deck (that will 1 day turn into fat boy control)

Also, Dismiss and Cryptic Command are counterspells that draw. 2x Back to Basics would be good in here as well. You need another way to slow them down, other than counterspells. Back to Basics just shuts down a lot of decks, but if you only use fetches and islands + 2x Ghost Quarter/2x Tectonic Edge then you're golden.

This actually has 2 edge 2 GQ right now. Had to steal the ghost quarters for my zombie pox SB.

I wanna keep this modern legal. I was just testing this out with cruise but this is the actual current form of the deck so comment here instead

Nice I've been building a mono blue list myself.

Maybe the 4th copy of Think Twice is better than one of the Repeals?

Or just use Vedalken Shackles

How about Kira, Great Glass-Spinner? She seems to fit this deck just fine. Sure, playing her doesn't remove a titi-counter, but she's good for protecting your creatures, and even better when you have counterspells.

I like it. A tad cliche, mono blue control/delver/thing, but I like it!

I like it, but I have two questions. How do you match up with Exile/Push removal and do find yourself needing Cryptic Command.?

June 5, 2017 2:35 p.m.

APPLE01DOJ says... #23

Better than against Abrupt Decay. There's 22 cards in the 75 to dodge removal. I mean it still happens but that's why Faerie Conclave is in the deck.

You do have a lot of counter magic. It would make Jace proud. I'm intrigued. I own a lot of cards in this build, and it's less than $50 to round it out. Tell me, have you tried Jace, Architect of Thought?

APPLE01DOJ says... #25

He's not bad. I've ran him on the SB of an U/W deck. He would work here as a 1-of. You can always test this deck out on untap.in before you decide to buy anything.
