On the play, at least 2 Islands, Delver of Secrets  Flip, Serum Visions, and a counter or 2.

On the draw, at least 2 lands, a cantrip or 2, a counter and a Vapor Snag.

Thanks for the upvote! If you run the deck online or in person let me know how it performs for you.

Have you ever successfully overloaded Cyclonic Rift

I have successfully cast Cyclonic Rift for its overload cost. Don't remember all the details but it has happened.

Just curious, apologies if that sounded snarky. I just re-read how it was written.

No worries, it's a legit question for a deck with 20 lands.

Very nice deck! :) If think you should give Opt a try, in place of think twice or serum vision, depending on your needs. If I'm right you draw cards thanks to all your cantrips spells, to keep your hand as full as possible, so the problem is: is the instant speed scry 1 better than a sorcery speed scry 2 in this deck?

I like this. Would 2-3x Chasm Skulker be considerable? It wouldn't bounce with Awoken Horror, and works with the preponderance of draw you have.

I have a deck that's similar, but I believe you've already upvote it.

Cheers! +1

Thanks! A long time ago this deck used to run 4x Chasm Skulker and 1x Stormtide Leviathan. Things worked quite well in those days but Delver and Titi and just faster.

Hi, I'm thinking about playing this deck in competitive magic online modern leagues. Do you think this decklist is enough to be competitive? If not, what changes need to be made?

Anyways, thank you for the solid decklist. It inspired me to play mono-blue again!

It's definitely competitive-viable but like any Control deck, it can be draw dependent. The only changes I would consider are A) Running Snapcaster Mage, personal preference but would fit quite well. B) 1-2 Search for Azcanta  Flip would be nice. and C) Invasive Surgery on the SB is mainly for Scapeshift and Thoughtseize. It could easily be something else.

I second Snapcaster Mage. Too much utility, and attached to a 2/1 body. Just so, so good.

Two more questions for ya:

1) Which cards would you cut out for snapcaster mages?

2) What matchup is Lone Revenant for?

January 24, 2018 4:45 p.m.

APPLE01DOJ says... #15

I would move the Spreading Seas or Repeal to the side for Snappy.

Lone Revenant is for matches with lots of removal. It's also good to side in when you just need more threats.

How would you change the sideboard if you had an unlimited budget?

January 26, 2018 4:22 p.m.

APPLE01DOJ says... #17

I mean the sideboard isn't really held back by budget. Ceremonious Rejection is good right now. Disdainful Stroke is decent.

Depends on what you expect to play against. Hurkyl's Recall is great against Infect. Telepathy is probably the best card in side against literally everything but important against stuff like Storm & Control mirrors. Spell Pierce could be Spell Snare but you need something for when youre on the draw. You can run more than 1 Spellskite.

APPLE01DOJ This looks like a solid list! Honestly, helps a ton to see similar lists as it makes it easier to brew. I think, I might toy around with the Chasm Skulker game plan supplemented with 4 Spreading Seas and see how that goes. (my play group is low tier enough that I could eek by with that strategy). Besides that, I will totally work on getting a playset of Faerie Conclave and Ghost Quarter to try out. Thanks for the help!

Hey if you’re not interested in running snapcaster, because neither am I for that price, maybe consider Mission Briefing it doesn’t have a body, but surveiling a card you need from the library to the graveyard is useful I think.

I really like this a lot! 2 things that come to mind are Robe of Mirrors to defend against late game spot removal. And Silent Arbiter against people going wide.

What are the spreading seas in there for?

APPLE01DOJ says... #24

MB mana hate, specifically for utility lands but sometimes you can color screw some one. Worst case scenario they draw an extra card.
