I think I agree that I need a 3rd Supreme Verdict , deathdisco89. I suppose I will replace both Pacifism s with that and another copy of Jace, Architect of Thought . Do you mean Jace, Memory Adept instead of Jace, the Mind Sculptor ? If so, I have another deck that is dedicated to milling that I would prefer JMA in. :P I appreciate the suggestions, thank you.

This is a solid deck! I agree that additional copies of Supreme Verdict and Jace, Architect of Thought would be very nice. Also, I could see Silence and Syncopate doing really well in this deck. If you're about to finish your opponent next turn, Silence will stop their chance of stopping you. Syncopate is nice because it's another counter spell.
As far as sideboard goes, I'd recommend at least a one of for Pithing Needle , Jace, Memory Adept , and Council of the Absolute . Pithing Needle shuts down their AEtherling and Planeswalkers. Jace is nice in the slower matchup where you need to stall them out and try to mill them out. The Council completely stops them from using their best card until they can get rid of it, which can be difficult with counter spells.

Celestial Flare is a pretty good m14 control card i would give it a shot in this deck! This deck list looks pretty solid. Another card to consider is Imposing Sovereign from m14 its like Blind Obedience only its a body to block with as well! Jace, Memory Adept should be a main board option in my opinion because he can finish off your opponent pretty quick with the mill and he helps with card advantage when not using his 0. I think you should add a 3rd Sphinx's Revelation because its just a kick ass card.

Fallen_Angel_of_Music, I really appreciate your input. I haven't really gone very counter-heavy in this deck because I think I prefer to let them cast something like a creature and then once they tap next turn into something else whether it be another creature or some sort of modifier for their first one, I bounce it back via Azorius Charm or Cyclonic Rift . Per your suggestion, I am definitely going to put a few Pithing Needle into my sideboard, and per aaronmaxey's suggestion, I included a Jace, Memory Adept and a third Cyclonic Rift and third Sphinx's Revelation by taking out two Inspiration and an Ascended Lawmage .
Thank you both for your suggestions, and keep them coming! I'll update this more as I continue to play test against various decks.

Nice deck Blind Obedience is a great card glad to see it here also if it were me id include Imposing Sovereign similar effect plus it adds a 2/2 not bad for 2 nice deck +1
July 22, 2013 7:39 p.m.
Yeah cyberlocc I was considering Imposing Sovereign over Blind Obedience but I think Imposing are more susceptible to removal than Blind currently. Additionally, it can be nice to extort sometimes when the mana or my hand allows, and adds to the strength of Sphere of Safety , which has helped me numerous games.
Thank you for the suggestions.

I was suggesting running both lol not taking out blind sorry for the confusion.
July 22, 2013 7:56 p.m.
Ah! Well I might do that haha. I have been trying to think of a replacement for Ascended Lawmage because they're really just the only replacement for Geist of Saint Traft post-rotation I could rationally consider, mostly cause of the hexproof and evasion. I will certainly test it out with the Imposing Sovereign s and let you know how I like them. Would Ascended Lawmage be what you would substitute for them? Thanks again.
July 22, 2013 8:01 p.m.
Uh I guess you could lawmage is a very good card though its no giest but a good card still. I would just be worried whee your damage would come from at that point. Youcould defiantly try it and see what happens ill playtest your deck against some of my post rotos and let you know
July 22, 2013 11:10 p.m.
I just returned as well lol i did play during innistrad but quit so all carda the day Avr dropped so im in the same boat lol.
July 22, 2013 11:12 p.m.
The Ascended Lawmage s I have were much more potent when I had Ethereal Armor in the deck a while back, but since then without the added effects they are not as useful. If anyone can think of a good replacement for Ascended Lawmage (perhaps Wall of Frost ?) I am open to suggestions.
Additionally, if anyone adds to my maybeboard or can suggest what from my maybeboard to put into sideboard I would appreciate it.

How does this deck do against aggro? I like it a lot but i feel like without the perfect draw, aggro is very strong against it. (The same problem I am having with my Azorius.)
July 31, 2013 9:05 p.m.
I only win about half the time against aggro, really. You are right that it depends on what you get in your opening hand. If I can get down a Blind Obedience and use either an Azorius Charm or a Cyclonic Rift I'm usually in shape to win. This deck does much much better against midrange and control of course. I think against hasty decks, Blind Obedience is the key.
I will try to play a few games against some RDW or other aggro and give a concise breakdown of what happened soonish. I will be gone for two weeks in a few days unfortunately, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to before then.

Played with this deck several games against different opponents and I changed it a little to my liking. Wn-Lose ratio was 2/2 against aggro deck and 3/0 against midrange.
Mainboard:
-1 Detention Sphere (moved to sideboard)
-2 Sphere of Safety (Im not big fan of this card, with so many removals your opponent shouldnt have any dangerous creatures to attack with)
-2 Island
+2 Syncopate
+1 Blind Obedience (the sooner will appear on the table, the better, extort happens to win the game :))
+2 Celestial Flare (Extra removal)
+2 Gideon, Champion of Justice (He attracts almost all of attacks)
+2 Encroaching Wastes (helps a lot with annoying lands)
August 8, 2013 6:15 a.m.
Hey Termit1989, I took some of your suggestions and decided to take out my remaining three Ascended Lawmage for three Syncopate . I would consider Gideon, Champion of Justice as well, possibly in place of Sphere of Safety but I like them probably more than I should, haha. Also, Encroaching Wastes is probably going to be good especially against Mutavault , you're right. I am just worried about mesng up my mana base, because I decided against going Esper because of possible mana troubles that are associated with three-color decks.
Thanks for the suggestions, they are much appreciated.
August 11, 2013 9:30 p.m.
I would put Blind Obedience
into the sideboard, against most of the decks it's only an extort trigger, which isn't worth a lost hand card and 2 mana. It's only good against decks with haste, but far from all aggro decks run haste -> sideboard
Sphere of Safety
is good against weenie decks, they will have you pretty low or dead on turn 5. Against midrange decks it's alot less usefull and against control it's a dead card. I would throw the card out entirely and go to 4 Supreme Verdict
, it's your best card against all sorts of aggressive decks and it's still good against midrange.
I really like that you combined alot of bounce spells with counters, if you miss a thread you just bounce it and counter it later :)
I probably would run one or maybe two lands more, as a control deck you really really need to hit your land drops.
This would end up in the following mainboard changes: -2 Sphere of Safety
-2 Blind Obedience
+1 Land +1 Supreme Verdict
and you might add some more card draw spells (I like Think Twice
) or if you play against alot of haste decks Imposing Sovereign
.
Btw I don't really like Ascended Lawmage
in here, against aggro it doesn't do a whole lot against midrange it might be ok but unnecessary and against control there's a good chance they are running Celestial Flare
or Supreme Verdict
which would render it useless as well :)
All in all i really like the deck +1

cyber2 and Fallen_Angel_of_Music, what do you think of this now? I added in another Jace, Memory Adept because I have been winning with him quite a lot and he's usually better protected than my AEtherling or Angel of Serenity .
I also took Aethos's advice and put in another land just so I hit them, but I moved Syncopate to the sideboard against control decks (not sure if I should put those in instead of Blind Obedience and one Render Silent to make it three of both). Blind Obedience is going to be super important to me though, especially against hasty Boros or Jund decks that run Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch and Ogre Battledriver , and it's harder to remove than Imposing Sovereign in my opinion.
Any quick suggestions from anyone before I update and erase the comments?
August 19, 2013 12:14 p.m.
I aggree that Blind Obedience
is important against haste decks but the question is how many of those haste decks get played in your enviromente? In my meta there aren't too many of them and I wouldn't want my hand to be clot by dead draws like Obedience. Imposing Sovereign
and Obedience, but especially Obedience :), are extremly unflexible. If a card has such a narrow use it should almost always be in the sideboard and not the mainboard.
Also I think your deck is well equipped to have a fighting chance against haste decks. I'm not even sure I would run Obedience or Sovereign in the sideboard, I would even there prefere a card with a broader usage.
But what would be even more important is getting rid of those Sphere of Safety
, in my eyes they hurt the deck! They are good against aggro decks with a really bad mana screw xD - I mean absolutly no offense, I tried long to get Restore the Peace
to work in one of my decks because I found the card interesting (and it's such a good card :D), but a friend could convince me that it's not as good as I hoped it would be. In this sense I really hope you reconsider those Spheres :)
I liked the Syncopate
and I would probably run some copies, also 25 lands aren't alot for a control deck: you absolutly cannot miss a land drop! Maybe 25 is enough but you should keep a close eye on your land count.Summarization: -2 Sphere of Safety
-2 Blind Obedience
+3 Syncopate
+1 Land

I agree with Aethos and with the second Jace. I'm totally digging where this deck is going!
August 19, 2013 9:01 p.m.
Alright, I am going to follow those suggestions. I am going to put in the 3 Syncopate that 26th land for now but I will probably end up keeping it at 25 lands and throwing in a 4th Sphinx's Revelation when I get one. Thanks Aethos and Fallen_Angel_of_Music!

I would be interested to know how Celestial Flare works out if it's sided in. Can you reliably cast it on turn 2 or 3 considering you got more blue mana then white? Have you tested it in here already?
August 20, 2013 3:07 a.m.
I probably can't cast Celestial Flare on turn 2 or 3 with the ratios of mana I have. It's really just in there for use against hex-proof decks where a non-overloaded Cyclonic Rift or an Azorius Charm won't work on their creatures. I have not yet had the chance to use it though since I haven't played at FNM. My friends play decks that I haven't had to use it for yet. I will definitely let you know how Celestial Flare works when I use it, Aethos. Thanks.

I'm trying a similir list with +2 haunted plate mail + 4 mutavault -2 angel of serenity
Looks great.

I like it! Maybe look at some of the new M14 cards as well. With how few creatures you have I would consider a 3rd or 4th supreme verdict, or maybe a Jace, Mind Sculptor as additional win condition.
