Electronic Angel is kinda like this but way faster and much more locking out.

Oh, you don't say @Ironrazer333 ? This is a modern deck without extra-cheat cards like sol ring...

Aggro is in my meta too, especially these affinity aggros are kind of annoying. I have the lock in my deck instead of the Eldrazi-creatures (I can't afford them) and use just a few creatures (but I think, your reanimator-thing would fit very well into the list, i will try that out)
The lock is with the right support pretty fast imo, I like it more than the eldrazis (and I can afford it :D ) especially because of my opponents expressions (priceless) and it is not as vulnerable as the eldrazis (Especially Kozilek) are because they all can just be a.e. Supreme Verdict ed / Terminus ed or whatever and yeah. On the Mindslaver there is just one moment to answer it and then it's over. This is very important for me because of our affinity Meta everyone side decks something against artifacts (or just boardwiping).

@Knochenkotzer666: I can see the argument in that respect for/against slaver as win con versus Eldrazi, but short of Path to Exile or another exile effect the Eldrazi don't care about board wipes with Eye of Ugin ... Blow up, hits grave, shuffles back in, search up Kozilek and draw another 4 cards in fine by me =P I could go the slaver route and remove the Eldrazi package, go more straight up control but thats really not how I want to play after 3 months of piloting UWR and going to time most every round lol. And like I said, this version sustains better IMO in the face of aggro because Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite says no to Affinity by pretty much killing everything on board minus a ravager, which you just path and be on your merry way.

@Ironrazer333 I looked at the deck list, its not a modern deck made for tournament (which is totally fine dude not everyone has to play competitive) which makes it pretty hard to actually compare your list to mine since I actually have restrictions on what I can and can't play (ie Sol Ring ).

I know this isn't helpful to your deck, but the amount of time and money it must've taken to build this deck (and make it mostly foil, no less) is probably gonna keep me up at night for a long time. XD

Alright so this is the coolest deck I've seen in a very long time. Just my style, heavy board control into an unbeatable threat done RIGHT.

+9001 for playing Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite in Modern because that is ultra cool.

@artakha if you don't take into account picking up foils, this deck actually took me less than a week and 100 dollars to put together (traded for pretty much all of the original list). =P

@SharadSun Thank you very much for your kind words/endorsements =]

Currently your deck costs $1337. I'd say your deck is pretty 1337, haha.

I'm interested to know how it fares against other Modern decks, as I am not a Modern player but am looking for a cheap but good deck to enter the format. :)

I always thought Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur would make way more sense in an Unburial Rites deck than Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite does.

@OnyxMyr Tron (UW, Mono U and GR) are all pretty decent starting points in Modern to play pretty competitively on a decently small budget. It plays pretty well against Pod, Jund, UWR and most of the other tier decks with a couple cons to it. The first being that Blood Moon and Tectonic Edge effects can be hard to fight through. I would argue that Mono blue Tron deals with it the best since it can survive without the Tron and UW is a close second while GR just gets blown out so hard. The second being it has a harder time with combo decks due to it's lack of too many interactive cards. You can see a more in-depth discussion on Tron and its many variants and sample decklists here.

@vishnarg While I could see him in a solar fare style Gifts deck he just isn't as good as Elesh Norn here. So many of the best creatures in Modern have 2 or less toughness that die when she hits (Vendilion Clique , Snapcaster Mage , Dark Confidant , Goblin Guide , the list goes on) and even if it doesn't die, the chances of it getting through Elesh are pretty low. Thats why Elesh wins the slot and Jin does not

Not only that, but Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite autohoses Pestermite / Deceiver Exarch and a great deal of Birthing Pod tech.

Nice Kitchen Finks you got there.

... shame if something happened to it.

PrimeSpeaky, Actually last night after doing some research I bought a $13 monoblack disruption deck on TCGplayer, haha.

Below is the article where I got the list and it had some other budget ideas too that I might pursue later. You deck does look cool and really good but it was out of my price range for the time being even though it was only a few hundred dollars without foils.

+1 as well. :)

If your meta is aggro heavy Y U NO Platinum Angel ? You have the Academy Ruins to back it up and counter magic to protect her. Every time I play her v.s. Aggro I win with my Mono U Tron.

Also, Spell Burst can make for a lockout with enough mana on its own. Wipe the board, then counter/buyback until they scoop or you pull a wincon.

PrimeSpeaky says... #14

I skipped on Platinum Angel due to the lack of harder counters to keep the removal entirely off the board and Path to Exile is card that a lot of aggro decks in my meta cling to. With so many stronger creatures, and more disruptive creatures, she just doesn't seem to have a space in the main or side IMO. I could maybe see the Spell Burst maybe except I don't need the hard counters so much. The U portion of the deck is more about the card advantage aspect of the color pie than the permission. Remand gets run so I can interact with spells I'd rather not see happen at the exact moment or to buy another turn by slowing down aggro's first 2-3 turns, not so I can lock an opponent out the way UWR does. As always though, I appreciate your thoughts and comments Ohthenoises =]

Is this the modern deck I saw at GP Valencia? Urza Lands bursting into Eldrazi or Karn by turn 4?

January 9, 2014 9:16 a.m.

PrimeSpeaky says... #17

It has that potential poompi, and without looking up the deck list I'd wager it probably isn't the same deck. More often, the version of tron that sees a lot of competitive play is the GR variant. The GR variant is more reliant on Tron, but is much faster about forcing it into play to land that T3 Wurmcoil Engine or Karn Liberated then following it with a Kozilek, Butcher of Truth and calling it good. I think the only person I've actually seen play this shell of tron in a big event was actually LSV

Can you upload a non-foil decklist? I've always wanted to play Tron, and U/W are my 2 favorite colors.
