My FNM meta is like Mono Red Aggro decks, Delver and Pod. I wouldn't run this at a proper event but I like the card a lot.

Why not run it at a prper event, those decks are the meta, especially Delver. Its one of the best pieces on mainoard mass-removal at the moment. It kills all their stuff 90 percent of the time for 1 less mana than the card that kills their stuff 100 percent of the time. It doesn't fuel Treasure Cruise and it kills Voice of Resurgence, any unduing/persist creature, dregde creatures and Chandra's Phoenix if you should run by it.

Supreme Verdict can't be countered and that's also a huge upside for the meta, but unless/untill people start playing more Affinity or alike, which probably will happen soon, I'd say anger is rendered as the best card for now at least.

My "proper" event metagame has like 1 Pod Player, Tron, Control and various combo decks. There is some burn and only 2-3 Delver. It is dead most of the time that is why I don't have it maindeck.

I think the Crackling Doom is better when you have Geist of Saint Traft in your deck, because you want to use it to pick off their largest blocker and swing in. Slaughter Games is real good though, and I really enjoyed Jeff's deck and stream.

Yes I agree, But I am away from home at the moment so its harder to change decks around and such on my phone, I agree though.

Random question, but what basics do you run? Like what set.

I play Unhinged full-arts, kinda like these.

I play UWR in almost every format so I own some Alpha/Beta basics and some Unhinged and swap them between my Standard and Modern decks depending on how I feel. I cannot stand having mismatched lands, so all are tge same type, including my original Rav Shocks.

I really prefer the RTR shocklands over their original counterparts, just because I think they all have much more vibrant art. Also not a fan of white borders, but to each their own I suppose. :)

Wait what whitr bordered shocks? I too am not a fan of the plain white borders but I really like the frame on my Beta lands or Apocalypse pain lands. ..

Do you play Standard?

January 7, 2015 9:15 p.m.

I meant white bordered basics, not shocks. White borders just ruin everything fun about Magic. :)

I dabble in Standard. I usually find one deck that I really like in the format (two years ago it was Jund, last year Standard was trash, and this year it's Abzan Midrange) and keep messing around with it and tweaking it based on SCG and other results. I usually just check metagame percentages, not anything as in-depth as I do for Modern.

Also, since I have most of the cards for it (only would have to spend ~$200 to finish the deck), I'm considering building Jeskai Control. Do you think it's a worthwhile investment? I've enjoyed playing the deck, and think it would be a worthwhile addition to my IRL repertoire. Specifically, I'm wondering if it is as resilient to metagame changes as people would have me believe, and if I could get value out of the deck even when the format shifts away from the decks that are currently popular.

Yeah same for me, I was the person who ran U/W Control last Standard and am attempting it this season based on Jim Davis' s list.

I too spend more time on my Modern decks than Standard, sort of disappointing that my Modern meta at FNM's often contains Standard decks.

Agreed, White bordered cards are disgusting.

You probably need to fix the sideboard first.

Hey?

As in 19 cards? It's sortofmore suggesting cards to put in your sideboard rather than an actual sideboard.

I'm interested in why you omitted clique and resto angel.

Preference. Which is what the deck comes down to more often than not.

Lots of people are building into Tokens at my store, Lots play decks where the disruption is irrelevant or the rate of a 3 mana 3/1 just isn't as good as a removal spell.

The angels I'm a little unsure on and I want to test, I don't really need the beats and I want to test this out.

Having more than 1 Sphinx's Revelation can get pretty clunky. I like the journey to the dark side with Watery Grave.

I would suggest Polluted Delta over Arid Mesa. You really don't need to fetch for red often, and a plains is less relevant in the face of Blood Moon.

Polluted Delta makes perfect sense, As for the Rev I don't really mind, I just want to cast it more often and the small percentage of the time that I draw two is fine with me.

I had a sweet idea of only playing spells at instant speed in the mainboard, but you miss out on wraths. If you can live without them mainboard, play 3 Restos and a Clique, with maybe a bit more burn.

This is basically a suggestion for a new deck list.

So essentially like Shahar Shenhars list he won world's with the first time.

It depends, A more proactive game plan is better in Modern for the most part but I don't really wanna kill my opponents. I want to draw cards and killing people with 2/1s

March 29, 2015 7:42 p.m.

I think the Restoration Angel plan is by far the best. It avoids a great deal of removal (Abrupt Decay being the most key), and obviously can provide a lot of value given other creatures in play. Keranos and Batterskull seem lackluster given that Siege Rhino is much faster/better than either card and tapping out for them vs. Twin is not great. The Angel races Abzan a bit better, but can also block if needed, while against Twin the flash is obviously great.

I have it set up on here for my local meta, Which at the moment has no Tier 1 Twin or Junk.

So short answer, Yes, You are correct that Angels are good and Batterskull is bad.

If I was to go down to Melbourne for a tournament I would probably play Twin. If for some reason I couldn't I would change the list quite a lot.

What do you see locally?

March 29, 2015 8:10 p.m.

bijschjdbcd says... #25

Used to be a lot of Burn, Now there is actual variety.

Couple of Dredge style decks, Esper Control, Esper Gifts, Esper Mentor, UWR Kiki Control, Infect, Loam and some janky standard decks with Lightning Bolts thrown in.

Not to mention a UW Silence/Isochron Scepter deck.
