Agreed. Cryptic is good against everything except burn and delver. Scapeshift is near winnable unless the Scapeshift player draws to many mountains or you bounce one prior to taking damage.

Anger of the Gods does a pretty good job beating Delver. The most efficient way is probably Pyroclasm, though.
If you want additional sideboard cards for Delver, board in the Engineered Explosives as well as Dispel. Dragon's Claw probably shouldn't even be in your sideboard.

Dragon's Claw Should most definitely be in the sideboard. This deck looses to burn and Jeskai burn is on the rise. Any burn deck cannot beat Dragon's Claw.

Anger is alright on the play, If they go delver and young pyro and you anger t3 it's alright, I've been meaning to get Volcanic Fallout to test against delver. But yes Pyroclasm is better.

Why run Dragons claw when you can run Leyline of Sanctity? gives Scapeshift a small speed ump against you as well...

Dragon's Claw is much lower impact than cards you aren't playing. Stony Silence is very good, and Kor Firewalker may be good as well.

I'd play a fouth Lightning Helix mainboard as well, it's a pretty important card for the deck, in the current meta.

Is Pyroclasm still good with the printing of Monastery Swiftspear. It doesn't really take care of them.
November 28, 2014 11:39 a.m.
Swiftspears are a big threat, and they have higher damage output than Delver itself. If they have Swifty, double bolt, you take 10 by turn two.

I'm no expert on UWR control but just curious why no Gitaxian Probe?
It's a cantrip that can be played for zero and you get infor on your opponent's hand which to me would seem invaluable for any control player. But like i said I'm no expert on the deck so I may be painfully wrong

@dan8080 It's an issue of deck slots. There are only so many slots in the deck, and this deck wants to run as many powerful control cards as possible. Also, surprisingly, I've found that the deck is so good at answering any type of threat that the information isn't really worth the 2 life, because you'll just answer whatever you see anyway unless it's a fist full of Lightning Bolts

Because it doesn't actually do anything for this deck. It's an empty card in this deck when you have so many other draw spells. It's good in decks like Delver because of the way it basically thins out their deck. But your answers in this deck draw you more answers

OP, have you thought about cutting a Spell Snare for another Remand? It helps you filter through your deck to find lands/gas, but it doesn't have the tight restriction on what it can counter. Just a thought =)

I have, but cards like Snapcaster Mage are powerful, a lot of Modern is filled with 2 drops, and it wins counter wars.

dan8080 Not only deck slots. Looking your opponents hand to reveal a bunch of threats that you can't deal with because you are playing Gitaxian Probe instead of an answer. Also most lists have access to 1-2 Vendilion Clique Which is strictly better in this kind of shell.

Affinity is always popular because it's cheap and has decent matchups. Twin is the same way. I consider Delver to be the best deck, but it doesn't win against Restoration Angel, Dragon's Claw, Spellskite, Anger of the Gods or Electrolyze
