Got this deck idea from Strictly Better Magic's Youtube channel and his video "Vampire Madness Double Deck Tech". He incorporates a competitive and budget version of R/B Vampires. I went after my own version of the Competitive deck because it is relatively affordable and I love the idea of running Aggro Vampires in Standard especially with Eldritch Moon coming soon. They also rate all their deck techs on a scoring system based on many categories, this one checked out as so:
Power: 8
Speed: 7
Synergy: 8
Versatility: 6
Resiliency: 5
Offense: 8
Defense: 6
Game 1: 7
Post-Board: 6
Consistency: 9
Which comes out to a final score of 70 which is tied for the highest score of all the deck tech's he has ever done.
This deck obviously was edited to a bit of a budget but will continually be added to to better it as I get more $.
The deck rotates around the Madness Mechanic and how quickly we can get our aggro based Vampires. The creatures we have 3 drop + are amazing. Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet can give you an army of Zombies, Olivia, Mobilized for War is a madness engine that can create insane amounts of attacking forces to bash our opponents, Drana, Liberator of Malakir is able to make our creatures huge and a 3 drop 2/3 first strike flyer is already badass, finally, one of my favorite cards
Elusive Tormentor
because he is a 4/4 madness outlet that can transform to a Hexproof, Unblockable, Indistructible, 0/1 that you can tap for after he is unblocked to flip him and still deal 4 damage. Nasty and VERY hard to remove.
We have pretty great synergy like getting a Falkenrath Gorger turn 1 Heir of Falkenrath
turn 2 and then coming in turn 3, discarding a 3 drop Vampire like Olivia, Mobilized for War or Drana, Liberator of Malakir or a 1 drop like
Fiery Temper
to remove a creature or deal 3 damage then playing another 2 drop creature all to flip Heir of Falkenrath
to a 3/2 Flyer and using the madness that could be given by Falkenrath Gorger or natural to get out our discarded Vampire/Spell and swinging for 4 (could be 7 damage if they don't have any creatures out) and you take the
Fiery Temper
route. I will compete with this deck in FNM soon and give updates on success.
Any real advice I would appreciate. This is my first standard deck and I know right now I'm not playing the "best cards in the format" but I think this deck could be great and has potential to be amazing as the hype for Eldritch Moon builds.
