This deck contains my heart and soul. This deck has evolved from the very first deck I ever built. That deck? A / tribal Vampire deck, focused on Vampire Nighthawk and Stromkirk Captain . It was...bad, as me and my other new Magic players had no concept of mana curves, efficiency, or synergy. So, I doubt that it is even containing any of the original cards.

But look at it now. It has slowly evolved, card slot by card slot, into this beauty.

I know this deck could be a lot better if I abandoned its strict Vampire regime, but I won't. It's my bae. It's the evolved from of my first deck. Sorin isn't going anywhere, despite his low-viability. Additionally, modern is not my main format, as I really don't care for it. Just enjoy: it's fun, solidly effective, and flavorful.

"Death not for survival but for vanity and pleasure? This is the decadence I sought to curb."

- Sorin Markov

This deck has three win-cons:
  1. Sacrifices to the vampire nobles
  2. An exsanguination sacrifice to the gods of Nyx
  3. The Blood Bond combo (boring)
What vampirism is all about, introducing the MVP of the deck: Bloodghast . Provide a sac outlet, like Viscera Seer , and let the landfall commence. The scry from the Seer helps you set up the second part of the deck as well. Additionally, there is effective synergy between Sorin's -3 and the Ghasts, allowing for quick attacks before resac-ing them. Then of course, there is Grave Pact . This enchantment is the primary reason as to why there is little removal in a monoBlack deck, and accelerates the exsanguination that Blood Artist provides, as he is triggered from all creatures from all opponents. When all else fails, damn them all to hell , reap the rewards of the vampire nobles , then regain your bearings quicker than your opponents by repopulating your board state with landfall.
The second stratagem is simpler to execute and easier to see. It is also your last ditch effort if your aggressive tactic #1 fails There is a lot of devotion among the permanents, like from Sorin , Bloodghast , Grave Pact and the gatekeeper . Simply Exsanguinate with Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx .
The third strategy? Boring. But its there if you're searching for any opportunity to win: Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond . Use Beseech the Queen to piece this combo together.
The sideboard contains a little bit more fun:
  1. Torment of Hailfire : a fun little toy from the new HOU set, that works similar to the Exsanguinate + Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx combo. I replace Exsanguinate when my opponent has many permanents (Planeswalkers, artifacts, enchantments) that my mainboard can't get rid of.
  2. Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet , Captivating Vampire , Bloodline Keeper  : When my opponent forces me to become more creature heavy.
  3. Geth's Verdict : To combat Uril-Aura like decks.

May the blood you drink be sweet! Suggestions and plus +1's are appreciated!
