Varolz, the Scar-Striped is deffinitly one of the best and one if my favorite commanders. You can sacrifice a creature to regenerate him which makes him more difficult to remove. He makes a great target for the scavange triggers if you can give him trample or some sort of evasion like Rogue's Passage killing with commander damage, and he is especially good if you give him counters and then cast Tainted Strike. Infect is a small theme in the deck also utilizing Plauge Stinger and Blight Mamba as other targets. The deck also runs the Ashnod's Altar + Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis + Korozda Guildmage to generate a bunch of 1/1 saproling tokens that make excellent sac targets for varolz or to go wide. An added bonus to the combo is if you have Dictate of Erebos out, being able to essentially boardwipe your opponents by sacrificing tokens. With Savra, Queen of the Golgari on the field you can gain a lot of life sacking the tokens with Varloz, the Scar-Striped.
