Maybeboard

This is a budget deck focused on drawing a lot of cards by taking advantage of Vega, the Watcher's draw power, then using those cards for interaction and control until we draw into our win conditions.

Strategy

This deck is focused on using Vega, the Watcher to draw extra cards off the mechanics that allow for casting spells outside the hand. A lot of cards in the deck have some sort of mechanic that allows for them to be played twice, and we can get extra value out of the second cast with Vega. Having lots of card draw and instants means we can both hold up mana for interaction and dig into the deck to refill our hand.

Cast Through Time and Lier, Disciple of the Drowned can help double dip cards that aren't repeatable, like removal pieces. Be careful with Lier as he also shuts off our own counterspells. Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, Prismatic Strands can help survive against aggression, and Talrand, Sky Summoner, Murmuring Mystic can make some tokens so we can attack and block.

Winning

Since we draw a lot of cards, we will find win conditions quickly. Protect them with interaction.

  • Approach of the Second Sun: The primary wincon; cast it twice to win. The second cast needs to be cast from the hand, so no Future Sight! With enough mana, we can even win on the same turn by just drawing back into it.

  • Triskaidekaphile: Secondary wincon. Fairly easy to achieve the 13 cards in hand, but it needs to survive until upkeep. It's also a mana-sink to draw some cards if we have nothing else.

  • Atemsis, All-Seeing: With various unlimited hand size cards, it's easy to keep a big hand with various CMCs to delete a player. Lands count as a zero-drop!

  • Talrand, Sky Summoner, Murmuring Mystic: Token beatdown. We get lots of drakes and birds from just casting and recasting spells.

  • Psychosis Crawler: Pings everyone for doing something we do a lot. Probably not enough on its own, but can still do a lot of damage.

  • Wizard Class: At level 3, it could be used to pump Vega for some unexpected commander damage kills. It's unlikely to happen, but if it's the only thing left...
