There seems to be a large number of artifacts, but there's a noticeable lack of card:Mishra's Workshop. I feel that Thawing Glaciers can be removed for this card.

I've actually toyed around with card:Mishra's Workshop, and while that card can get insane pretty quick, it doesn't contribute quite enough. There have been times when it's awesome, but more often, it's a dead land in a hand full of blue spells. That's the reason why I've decided not to include in the list. Thawing Glaciers lets me keep slow hands and thin out the deck.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Can't believe you don't have Tunnel Vision

BuLLZ3Y3 says... #6

I don't play Tunnel Vision because almost every player at my local store uses Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre in their deck. Since he would shuffle the whole thing back, it would be a pointless card.

I'm very curious as to why you're running Caged Sun, the Lense, and Gauntlet of Power. In a 1v1 focused deck, I feel like they're too slow for not enough gain.

Same thing with cards like Time Stretch. Run less expensive cards like Temporal Manipulation or Time Warp instead.

This deck tends to make mana very quickly. With the large amount of artifact ramp, I can play a Caged Sun on turn three very easily. Plus, Extraplanar Lens is only a three drop.

With this amount of mana, Time Stretch is very feasible, plus it's a fairly good win condition. I've had tons of players scoop to a resolved Time Stretch, since it generally means I can win the game.

But in spite of all of these reasons, my deck is ultimately a control deck. I enjoy long games where I win very, very slowly. Sure, sometimes I have crazy starts with Mana Crypt or Show and Tell , but that's because I enjoy explosive draws. In the end, all I want to do is draw a million cards and make a million mana. So those things help me to do so.

I appreciate your input!

I would recommend Palinchron Enter the Infinite Phantasmal Image,

I really like the inclusion of Jin in this deck, I have been looking for a foil one for a while.... if you want to trade it lol? (its my commander in my deck)

I've thought about adding Phantasmal Image for a while, but I just don't know what I'd take out for it. I love all the cards in here. XD

As for Palinchron, it's really good with the mana doubler's, but it's pretty easy to defeat with removal and whatnot.

Enter the Infinite would ONLY every be cast off of Omniscience, and while it would be an instant win, I just don't want a dead card in my hand until I get sixty mana or something to make use of it.

And no, I definitely will not be trading my foil Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur. =P

Cyclonic Rift would be pretty good as an EOT trick, especially with Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur

That is definitely true. Upheaval is an insane card, and a one-sided version is even better. Maybe I'll take out Capsize for it. I'll test it out and post back with my results.

Thanks for all your input!

has Riptide Laboratory lost his way ? You must consider that to your deck

BuLLZ3Y3 says... #14

It's merely the fact that I don't own one, and I haven't put much effort into acquiring it. Once I have one, I'll probably add it in.

Thanks!

What are your primary combos? I see Temple Bell /Arcanis the Omnipotent +Mind Over Matter .

If you're playing Extraplanar Lens , it would be a good idea to upgrade to Snow-Covered Island s. You don't really want to give the other control players access to double blue.

Mox Opal seems inconsistent, but a sizable portion of your deck is artifacts. How has it been for you?

I don't really know if the fetches are worth playing. You don't have any nonbasic Islands to fetch, so they're really just there for either shuffling or deck thinning. The latter seems irrelevant because your library will likely have somewhere between 88-92 cards in it when you use the ability.

Batterskull seems unnecessary in a combo deck.

Cyclonic Rift might help you deal with any threats that happen to resolve.

Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir is a common include against control. You might use it to protect your combos.

I'm not sure how I feel about Commandeer . A counterspell would be cheaper and more flexible.

I wonder how High Tide and Reset might work for you. They're cards I've often thought about for control, but I'm on the fence about them. High Tide also doubles mana from your opponents' Islands, but you would probably have the countermagic to protect yourself from whatever they threw at you.

Any chances vs decks that dont need handcards? Like zur the Enchanter...?? Please report!

June 10, 2013 7:48 a.m.

BuLLZ3Y3 says... #17

Zur is one of the few generals who give you a hard time. I don't have anyone who plays him in my playgroup, so I don't get to playtest against him. I would recommend countering him, and often. This deck lacks ways to interact with permanents, which is something that's plagued me in a couple of matches.

I have run into this issue (Zur netdecks) many times when playtesting -as a mono blue 1v1 edh player- (

), so I added Vedalken Shackles to my list, its an ability so it is hard to counter and it is tutorable. Also Cyclonic Rift or Echoing Truth help as well.

would Personal Tutor be better than Long-Term Plans ?

June 17, 2013 8:09 p.m.

BuLLZ3Y3 says... #21

I like Personal Tutor , but it only gets sorceries. I like Long-Term Plans because it can get any card, and it is my best way to search for Mind Over Matter .

but it guarantees an extra turn with Temporal Mastery

June 18, 2013 12:20 a.m.

BuLLZ3Y3 says... #23

That is true, but it's not really that powerful. More likely I would use it as a second copy of Timetwister or Time Spiral , because I really enjoy those effects.

June 18, 2013 10:26 a.m.

RikonVan says... #24

What are your tutors? Only divining top??? :D

June 21, 2013 5:11 a.m.

BuLLZ3Y3 says... #25

Blue doesn't get many tutors. The only ones I know of are Mystical Tutor , Personal Tutor , and Long-Term Plans . Of those, I use both Mystical Tutor and Long-Term Plans, because I'm not a big fan of Personal Tutor. Plus it's kind of expensive, and it hasn't been a high priority for me to obtain.

Sensei's Divining Top isn't a tutor. It's card selection. Very different.

Oh, I guess Fabricate is also a tutor. But when I think of tutors I think of cards like Vampiric Tutor and Demonic Tutor , so that's why I didn't mention it.
