Bant Combo-Control

This is a Bant Combo-Control deck revolving around abusing ETB effects from creatures with Eerie Interlude / Venser, the Sojourner . Very oppressive and a control players dream in a Aggro Heavy Meta. Glittering Wish provides access to the Sideboard/Wishboard to always have an answer!

"Two magi could trade spells all day and never crown a victor. The real battle is not one of power but of will. If your confidence breaks, so too shall you." —Venser

This deck blends elements of combo with elements of control to achieve a powerful end-game strategy and all-around resilience.

As a combo deck, this list wins by executing an infinite Turn combo for exploiting Venser's -8. If the opponent does not yield after all of their targetable mana/permanents have been exiled then it can be played out by winning though unblocked attacks or; infinite turns with Azor's Elocutors in play or via watching your opponent mill out by attaching Wheel of Sun and Moon to yourself and really really drag things out. Combo is a great choice of a finisher because it doesn't rely on life totals or board states; rather, it secures the victory by creating an hard lock win condition. It also means that the deck has a defined, consistent means of establishing victory: it uses its combo to win in a controlled manner rather than with the unreliability of combat-oriented strategies.

As a control deck, this list facilitates a win by suppressing or disrupting opponents' activity to create advantage. Control is also essential to protecting the combo; control spells help to prevent opponents from disrupting the combo and thereby preventing the deck from winning. This is where Glittering Wish comes into play.

Stall with walls and generate massive tempo and card draw/ramp by abusing ETB creatures such as Coiling Oracle / Stonehorn Dignitary long enough to go infinite. First Priority being to shut down the opponents creature offensive and if needed wish for an appropriate answer from the sideboard.

Assuming for whatever reason the opponent has no way to deal with Venser, the Sojourner 's +1 ability being used on Stonehorn Dignitary to lock out combat or Eternal Witness for repeated Time Warp use. Maybe you have out Privileged Position or Meddling Mage 'd the Fck out of their Doom Blade / Negate / Oblivion Ring or Dismember and it was their only answer to it nevertheless; There are times the opponent can have a supirior game winning boardstate... all they need is their turn again/opportunity to attack... but your in between a rock and a hard place... for if you fail to use Venser's +1 you basically lose at this point... so here is the answer to give venser an opportunity to use his -8 Ultimate so you can finish taking the game! Eerie Interlude *

Access the sideboard with whatever answer is needed with Glittering Wish

Strengths:

This deck is very strong against non-hexproof/shroud creature/permanent based decks. Walls do a great job slowing down aggro enough to combo out and being able to eliminate the opponents combat phase altogether puts a stop to a lot of opponents. Creatures/artifacts/enchantments can all be picked off and eliminated with relative ease as long as they can be targeted.

Weaknesses:

Because this is a Tri-color deck with fairly budget mana base (In an attempt/trade-off to limit the effects of Blood Moon ) being color screwed can be problematic from time to time but; card draw and mana ramp through Coiling Oracle / Wall of Omens really help prevent this. However due to a fairly high average CMC without assistance from Coiling Oracle FAST opponents can prevent this deck from stabilizing. Permanents with Shroud/Hexproof can potentially be worrisome and instant/sorcery spells from an opponent can really be a pain. Things like Surgical Extraction / Relic of Progenitus can put the kibosh on the infinite combos. however; victory can still be achieved without it.
