There once was a deck called Vial Smasher the biggest spells around. It was extremely slow and lost almost every game. So it became an idea to make it a viable deck. After many a night after league standing outside the game shop, it was brought up why not make it a tax/stax deck. I thought long and hard about the overall goal of this deck and what kind of win condition would be available in this. It came down to punishing the opponents and making it difficult for them to do what they want. However, this is basically just a matter of what everyone wants to do eventually. So, how does the deck actually win? Damage doublers!! Although Vial Smasher is a good commander for this deck Kaervek is probably better. So what did I do? I tucked Kaervek inside and made it Vial Smasher to be a little less threatening. Thus, Vial Smasher the Merciless has been born.
