"His blades were the ultimate agents of transformation. All Phyrexians who met them were transformed into pieces." – Heroes of the Second Invasion

Synergy

New Phyrexia's Invasion of the Multiverse has begun! Join the Mirran Resistance and heroes from across the Planes as they take the fight to the Phyrexians - and all others who threaten them - with a full frontal assault complete with ambushes planned and reinforcements. Built around none other than Iroas, God of Victory himself and the For Mirrodin! mechanic, the strategy is to lay on the attack - and when one hero falls then another can take up their equipment and fight on. Be ready to shift equipment around to maximize both offensive and defensive capabilities pre and post Combat phase, a task made cheaper by Astor, Bearer of Blades, stronger with Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer's passive Metalcraft ability, and with ambushes taking the form of Response / Resurgence, Triumphant Surge, Divine Arrow, and Spear of Heliod. But all resistance fighters need reinforcements and, here, the Mirrans and Multiverse get theirs courtesy of Baird, Argivian Recruiter and their newly ascended ally Archangel Elspeth, who can be critical if you find yourself heavy on equipment but short on troops to wield them. Aurelia, Exemplar of Justice's Mentoring your fighters combos well with Adriana, Captain of the Guard's Melee abilities as they lead the charge alongside Haktos the Unscarred, Tajic, Blade of the Legion, Jor Kadeen, First Goldwarden, Tori D'Avenant, Fury Rider, and the mighty Dragons Ao, the Dawn Sky and Zetalpa, Primal Dawn. All of whom again get a boost from your Commander's passive ability. Koth of the Hammer's's -2 and ultimate abilities plus Chandra, Awakened Inferno and Sarkhan the Masterless will give you additional firepower, few are the enemy lines that will not break at your charge to victory.

Playability Results

This deck is strategic Aggro, so if you are tactical in balancing attack and defense like any Resistance-fighter worth the name then this deck will, like the Mirrans, either prevail to victory or make your foes pay dearly for a win. Unless facing off against heavy Counter, Prison, and Removal features, I have never seen this deck loose quietly, so do not be afraid to take a hit while playing it. I have won many a match by taking damage so as to then move in for the kill. Strategic Aggro and tactical risk-taking characterize the Mirran Resistance, and this deck channels their inner fire and steel.

"Mirrodin was - is - a plane of steel. Mirrodin's people reflect that. As long as one of us is breathing, we'll keep fighting back." – Koth
