I was just thinking that Search for Tomorrow could be a decent card in here for the suspend. Sakura-Tribe Elder could also be good for ramp. Also, just wondering on your decision making, why Courser of Kruphix over Oracle of Mul Daya? Oracle allows you to play an addition land in one turn without needing to top deck it like Courser does, even though with Courser you gain a life. I do release that Oracle can be lightning bolted, but what else was the deciding factor, or was that it?

The lightning bolt, and CMC were the two main factors. Courser can come out turn 2, while oracle needs a really good hand to come out turn 2 (if I am able to cast a 4 CMC, I can often cast a 6+ CMC with this deck).

The problem with the two ramp you suggested is the word BASIC land, unfortunately I only have 2 forests, and can't really make any room for more without hurting other areas of the deck (those 2 Forest are alI need to fight Blood Moon so it works out). The lack of forests makes those risky forms of ramp, since they are just bad without targets.

I've had times I wanted to Ghost Quarter myself for a forest, but unfortunately drew into both forests already. Those are fine forms of ramp, just not in this deck.

I'm thinking Dreadbore as a Glittering Wish target, it's not too hard to cast off your mana and it gets rid of Liliana of the Veil as well as all the other plainswalkers (lilly just seems like the most likely to give you a bad time

Red and black is actually really hard for my mana base to produce early enough (I want my spells to be able to be sided in games two/three). I can't really run that for the same reason I can't run Rakdos Charm and that's the cost. Also, what is wrong with simply Abrupt Decaying Lily? To a lesser extent, I can always use Fiery Justice on planeswalkers also, often taking a creature with them.

With this iteration of the deck it is possible to produce red/black (since I added more color fixing to allow for tri-color color testing) but that particular option doesn't benefit enough to justify the color strain. Most decks running Lily see Leyline of Sanctity sided in, since they generally pack targeted discard too. Sigarda, Host of Herons comes in before they can ultimate too, if the game drags on that long (lots of ways to tutor for it).

so barry, i went to Gp Nj and i met Matthias Hunt, and talked to him about your deck, and he loved the elderscale wurm and gliterring wish, and he said he would take it under consideration which i thought was really cool..

I went 6-3 at the Gp playing enchantress's and there was a super sunday series with 600 people which i went 7-2-1 and placed 19th overall.

I did, when it was more combo oriented. Now it has more hate and answers instead. Both versions worked perfectly fine, this play style just fits my style better (I'm a blue player).

I don't tend to find myself wanting for too many high end creatures currently, and the susceptibility to being countered isn't something I like (no Cavern of Souls since it isn't a creature). You are more than welcome to include it in your version of the deck if you desire though.

oh,before your deck was more combo like, but it good like this as well

thanks

idc about that much, I rather get useful input :)

The deck wouldn't be what it is today without the help of others. Even some bad suggestions led me to think of some good options.

It it possible to add in an Emrakul, the Aeons Torn? There a several ways to have it out in this deck, Mosswort Bridge, Tooth and Nail or hard-casting it would't be too difficult either. Getting this in play and haste it with Slayers' Stronghold would be devastating to your opponent. Just an opinion of mine :)

it would be possible if you went the more combo version of it. I just feel it is win more in this version. It's not a green creature which means I can't search it up with Summoner's Pact. That's the main downside to it.

But yeah, if you want to cut some hate like Spellskite for Tooth and Nail it could fit. However, I think Patron of the Moon with Kessig Wolf Run was a better finisher. With an amulet out, you can easily go infinite with a hardcast Tooth and Nail.

This seems to be a recurring theme coming up, guess I'll move some of the more "combo" cards to the cards to consider section.

No Crucible of Worlds in the sideboard? What do you do against Fulminator Mage?

December 21, 2014 2:59 p.m.

nbarry223 says... #19

Mulligan a bit more aggressively in a lot of cases, to an Amulet of Vigor if it is straight land hate, or some powerful hate of our own. If they can sacrifice in response to triggers, I usually play more conservatively, but generally against any forms of hate, I try to win as fast as possible. Remember, the more hate they have, the slower their win-cons are, since they are diluting their strategy for more hate.

Worth noting is that we can produce 6 mana with Summer Bloom and any bounce(s) as long as an amulet is out on the field (really resilient to land hate). Even if they sac in response to triggers, we generally will have more potential for explosive plays than they have responses. The most important thing is simply protecting our hand, Leyline of Sanctity is generally the most important sideboard choice against red and/or black, so it will probably go in against any deck running Fulminator Mage.

This deck looks awesome, but very delicate. It seems like 1 good Path to Exile or Remand or Cryptic Command can send you back quite a ways.

Does this deck have a problem with tempo?

Have you considered throwing in a copy of Boseiju, Who Shelters All in the mainboard?

December 22, 2014 1:18 a.m.

nbarry223 says... #21

I run 3x Cavern of Souls and Thrun, the Last Troll which can be found by any of the four copies of Summoner's Pact that I run. It doesn't really have a problem with tempo decks, if you play around them, instead of trying to make aggressive plays. For example, If I resolve a Primeval Titan against a deck with removal, I will fetch Tolaria West and Simic Growth Chamber instead of Boros Garrison and Slayers' Stronghold. I will always go for the safer play against any type of tempo deck. The only tempo decks I have ever had problems with are ones with infinite combos like Splinter Twin and the likes, but that is more due to the combo than the control package.

I am actually very well positioned against control decks with 8 mainboard "answers" in my opinion. Once the hexproof/shroud creatures come in, the deck is that much harder for them to deal with (both are angels, which makes Cavern of Souls very powerful).

Cool. Another question:

How do you feel about the lack of Hive Mind + Summoner's Pact (or other pact) combo popularly found in Titan-Bloom lists. What differences has it made playstyle-wise to your deck? Do you feel your deck is on the whole better for it, or has it traded some raw power for it's ability to be a toolbox?

(the reason I'm asking is because I'm looking to build a Titan-Bloom deck, myself :3)

December 22, 2014 1:55 a.m.

nbarry223 says... #23

I personally feel the difference is for the better, but I designed this from the ground up, so I am probably biased. It does trade off potential instant wins for a better position over the course of the 3 games. This deck's strength is honestly games 2/3 usually.

I actually designed the list before the whole titan-bloom thing, even though it was a lot different than it is now. It was also more combo oriented, and I just discovered how well Glittering Wish worked around that time. I ran the Tooth and Nail variant around that time, with Patron of the Moon as a finisher. However, the fact that I ended up siding out a good chunk of my deck verse control wasn't something I was fond of, so I searched for answers to that, and settled upon a decklist more or less like you see today.

Basically, in comparison to the Hive Mind variant, this deck is less explosive game one (I like to think that my hate and various creatures make up for that though). I can't really argue with the fact that they have a lot more potential "I win" opening hands. Post-board, I feel this deck is generally better positioned than the Hive Mind variants. It is far less fragile than those. They generally crumble to control in my experience, especially decks like blue-moon. I designed the deck to cope with a resolved Blood Moon, which is something most people would think it folds to at first glance. The Manamorphose functions as more than just a simple color-fixing cantrip, even though it does that extremely well.

Try out the various versions and see what you like best. My Glittering Wish version fits more of a control play-style best, the Tooth and Nail version fits your green "face bashing" play-style best, while the Hive Mind variant is something combo oriented players tend to like. They all offer something the others don't, so it is really up to the player what they like best.

I'm not going to tell you to build my deck without trying it out either, as the learning curve behind it is quite high. It took me months to understand all the potential interactions fully, and I designed the thing. I think that this version is easily the most demanding mentally, which is why I like it. I don't know what kind of a player you are, but hopefully that helped.

nbarry223: Indeed it did, thanks man .

I've been looking into some of the current popular Bloom Titan lists, and their lack of interaction with opponent makes me uncomfortable. (I play 4-color Gifts in paper. My decklist is here, if your'e interested: A Little Lesson In Recursion Theory, so I'm pretty comfy with control and toolbox decks.)

I'm gonna fiddle around with this and other decklists, and see if I can find a happy medium- I may try adding some Remand and Cryptic Command to the standard Bloom-Titan decklist, and see if I can't make one myself that can survive a control game. (I try to netdeck the least amount possible. :3)

Your list looks pretty sweet, though, I gotta admit. Mind if I show you what I eventually come up with?
