Okay. this is what I ended up with after playtesting.

I'm not getting something. How does Amulet of Vigor allow you to get past the 1-land-drop-per-turn rule? Even if you bounced it back, it would still mean dropping more than one land per turn. Evolving Wilds or Terramorphic Expanse I get, but I don't understand it as is.

I'm getting past the dropping 1 land per turn by cards that allow me to. I'm untapping the same land more than once with multiple Amulet of Vigor effects. (I'm not quite sure of your question, so I answered both possibilities I could think of).

Please elaborate exactly what you are confused of with an example play if I failed to answer your question.

Not bad -> +1 from me.

I'm thoroughly loving the retrace on Waves of Aggression as it translates to pay 1 for extra combat phase with 1 titan and amulet on the field, with more than one of either I actually profit every combat phase lmao.

When talking about the T2 win, you're basically leaving out the spells played such as Summer Bloom ?

You can get turn 2 win in so many ways, it isn't even funny.

All you really need is the 2 Amulet of Vigor and Azusa, Lost but Seeking (or Summer Bloom ) along with a Primeval Titan or some way to get him out (Summoner's Pact or an entwined Tooth and Nail ). Then, through shenanigans involving transmuting Tolaria West into Primeval Titan (Summoner's Pact says hello) after fetching it and Simic Growth Chamber You are basically guaranteed the win. That's why I said all you truly need is the three key cards, because once you get out a Primeval Titan the deck basically "goes off" regardless provided you have at least one Amulet of Vigor out.

I feel I need to put this here, because I don't think people actually read what Azusa, Lost but Seeking does. It also lets you play 2 more lands during your turn. It's a recurring mini-Summer Bloom

would a Pact of Negation do well in here to protect your combo when you go off?

Not in the main board, but it might be pheasible in side board vs control. Idk if it's better than Leyline of Lifeforce though (especially given my 2 Serum Powder ). I'll see if the added flexibility justifies it, but I don't think so at this point.

I have a deck sort of like this that runs of landfall triggers...Freefall...staple card is Fastbond ...turn one win

So the only decks this deck is having problems with is ones with Inquisition of Kozilek and/or Thoughtseize to target my Amulet of Vigor before I can play it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to increase my odds in such match ups?

I believe i played this deck earlier on Untap.in, and it's meaaan. Which in magic is a synonym for good :)

Not sure if it's been suggested, but have you thought of adding Elvish Piper to help get the bigger guys onto the field easier?

@benw999

Elvish Piper is a little slow, if I have a creature in my hand, I can basically hard cast it by the time I can hard cast Elvish Piper . I ramp to at least 6 turn 3 really consistently, so there's no point in it.

However, cheating things into play is a major goal of the deck, which it does nicely. It cheats out extra combat phases too.

@Dalektable

That's interesting, since I constructed this deck from scratch, and it took a very different approach than a lot of the decks that are "similar."

Are you not untap.in? Because i did play a deck very close to this one, i even assumed it must have been you.

Nope, not me. This is publicly view-able, so someone could have taken the decklist and used it. I don't mind as long as they come back with suggestions if they think of something to improve it. I'd like to one day see it as a competitive build in modern.

It's biggest weakness is the reliance on Amulet of Vigor which is really vulnerable to removal and/or targeted discard. That's the only reason I splashed blue, for the Trinket Mage and Academy Ruins to address that issue.

It's still a little too fragile for my tastes, but when it isn't disrupted, it is top tier, for sure.

I don't know, game 2 Pact of Negation might solidify your position against artifact removals. As for against black, really Leyline of Sanctity and hope for the best is all I can suggest.

March 3, 2014 11:56 p.m.

nbarry223 says... #22

While it might seem like Pact of Negation does, it doesn't. I don't have the mana that early (mostly because of double blue cost) to pay its upkeep cost. Therefore it's just a dead card until later, when I have better options anyway.

Believe me, I wish it worked like you think it does, but it isn't as effective as it looks first glance.

I already have 3 Leyline of Sanctity in my sideboard. It hoses burn and discard fairly well. It comes down to luck against discard, if I can get a starting hand with a leyline and amulet, I win, if not; it's an uphill battle when they make me discard my amulets.

I'd love to hear any further thoughts on cards for specific match ups. That's where this deck lacks the most.

I played an amulet deck very similar to this in my last fnm final round. It is incredibly solid and consistent. He ran Patron of the Moon and Spawnsire of Ulamog which i highly highly suggest you find room for. Tooth and nail for these two then make infinite mana with the patron amulet and bounce land. Use spawnsire then to grab emrakul ulamog and kozilek out of your sideboard and win! Again very consistent combo. The only reason i won was because i packed artifact hate in my side and snapcaster was far to valuable early on. game 3 was rough.

Noxious Revival and Reclaim would be the next two thing I can think of really.
