Its main uses would be tron, bloom titan, and scapeshift (to a lesser extent). It's good against decks with key lands, semi-okay against utility lands. Paying 4 to destroy a land isn't something we should be aiming to do in any other match. It would probably be better to enable our own game-plan, or target theirs better.

Yeah, I know the plan isn't to use it for utility lands, I think it's just incidentally good against control decks with low amounts of finishers

Ever consider Life from the Loam with Patron of the Moon and a draw engine it would be pretty sweet.
Have you had successes with Dragonlord Dromoka? He seems like a hoser for any control so you can safely combo off on your turn. And a potential beater is always nice.
This deck on the Pro tour did amazing and I've been following it I guess you could say, since. Anyway, would you offer any tips for a beginner to the format in building a deck like this. Are there any viable budget options?
October 16, 2015 10:54 p.m.
That depends on your definition of budget. really, the core of pacts, titans, amulets, blooms, and the lands is all that is set in stone. All the other slots are pretty up in the air, in my opinion.
You can probably make a fairly cheap version of the deck, but it definitely won't be as powerful as it could be, if you skimp on decent sideboard and things like that.
I actually ran Patron of the Moon with Tooth and Nail at one point, a resolved Tooth and Nail let you grab a titan and Patron of the Moon which let you swing for infinite with a Kessig Wolf Run. It's in the description under combo versions.

Thank you for doing something new with the amulet bloom deck! I get sick of tired and see Justin Cohen's list copy pasta-ed, or Tom Martroll's list just floating around
I regret that I only have one +1 to give you sir or madame!

Thanks. It's a fun deck, but I've moved away from it recently. You have to mulligan fairly aggressively with it, which is something I don't enjoy. I'd rather lose to my opponent than beat myself.
That's a major weakness of all combo decks though, and there's just no way to get around it.
When it works, it works good, and when it doesn't, you regret taking/not taking that mulligan.

Just thought of a new idea...
I could possibly do Unburial Rites with cards like Grisly Salvage, Mulch, and dredge favorites like Life from the Loam with at least Raven's Crime as a retrace.
It's a TOTALLY different deck, but it seems like a fun and novel idea. It's obviously a slower way to get out Primeval Titan, but it seems like a reliable way against targeted discard, which is definitely a major difficulty for this deck (the decision to cut my 3 Leyline of Sanctity in the board is partially to blame for that).
Just throwing the idea out there if anyone is interested in developing it further.

I think the reason not to Unburial Rites is that there are just better targets that exist for rites. norn, iona, I think Grave Titan is the better titan for a rites deck because it gets multiple attackers.
November 14, 2015 8:08 a.m.
Yes, I was basically suggesting an amulet deck with grave-based recursion over all the other stuff. There's definitely better targets for Unburial Rites, but getting that target into the grave reliably is the problem. Unburial Rites was just something I was suggesting as a finisher from the graveyard. Something along the lines of Worm Harvest could work too, along with any type of flashback and/or unearth. Basically any type of card that can activate from the graveyard, with Raven's Crime serving as your form of disruption.
The three other cards I suggested have great synergy with playing lots of lands at once, so I definitely think it could work. Academy Ruins would definitely be in this type of deck, and possibly Crucible of Worlds. If fetches are included too, there's lots of ways to get lands into and back from the graveyard quickly.
Of course, the main goal would still be a turn two titan, but this gives resilience in a different form, when that doesn't happen.

This deck changed a lot :o
Why do you not run the regular Tolaria West/Hive Mind/pact combo?
November 15, 2015 11 p.m.
nbarry223 Femme told me that you were working on alternate lists of amulet bloom and I've gotta say I like the list you've got a lot. I've been using the deck for like the last 7-8 months, and i've gotta say, i'm burned out with it. As you've said, i'm so sick of beating myself with mulligans or just needing one more piece to go off, and just losing because you never draw it.
I was thinking earlier tonight of throwing in a Gifts Ungiven/Unburial Rites package. Like two-three gifts, and one unburial rites. Just as another 3 ways to get a titan out turns 3-5. What do you think?

Now I went looking and found your Hive Mind version. Ignore me >.>
November 15, 2015 11:27 p.m.
I've been toying with the idea of a grave based back up plan, and Gifts Ungiven would definitely fit in nicely, since there'd be other packages besides just the 2 card combo, already built into the deck.
Basically, Unburial Rites (or Worm Harvest, undecided as of now), 3x? Gifts Ungiven, Raven's Crime, 4x Grisly Salvage, Life from the Loam, Academy Ruins, Crucible of Worlds, Horizon Canopy, and possibly more dredge or things like Mulch. Obviously, things like Tolaria West and Ghost Quarter are bonkers with Crucible of Worlds.
It's still in the concept stages, as I haven't had much time to develop it, but it'd basically be blue/black/green, and try to combo out or wither away at their hands/resources (flashback hate in the side).
It's definitely a fun concept, but I am trying to make it as competitive as possible before coming up with a list.
You'd be able to grab very degenerate packages with the cards listed, quite a few actually, so it's definitely looking competitive. I've yet to playtest it though, since I am so busy with work.

anguished unmaking, omfg...
That card will be absolutely amazing in here.

you did get the update that Summer Bloom got banned, correct?
March 15, 2016 4:28 a.m.
ye, but the deck still has a special place in my binder, being my favorite janky deck.
Unfortunately, I don't think it's very possible to change the deck and still keep it viable, would have preferred they ban Amulet of Vigor instead of the Summer Bloom, but oh well.
Anyway, I'll change it to casual, as that's what it is now. Still planning to keep it modern legal (mostly) just because.
The deck has quite a few different iterations, that play completely different, but the glittering wish one is definitely my favorite. Maybe I'll find another shell for the wish package some day, but until then, I'll enjoy this deck.
March 15, 2016 6:39 p.m. Edited.
I'm still playing this, with some modifications of my own, in local tournaments, and the results are pretty good (mainly because nobody expects an Amulet deck anymore, lol). I'll continue to experiment with the deck for now, I had too much fun playing Amulet to give it up completely.
March 17, 2016 3:25 a.m.
Well, to be honest, they are printing a few more "extra land" cards now (with decent bodies attached), but nothing near the power of summer bloom. I think the deck might be salvageable, but it won't be nearly as powerful or explosive. It'll probably end up playing as more of a mid-range deck than a combo deck.
The recent spoilers have made me think about actually reworking it a bit, post-rotation, and seeing how it works out. Sadly, not expecting anything near the results I had before though.
March 23, 2016 9:30 p.m.
Seems to work with this manabase, although now aggro matchups just got that much harder. Thankfully, Amulet of Vigor mitigates the need to shock myself with Shocklands, and Dryad of the Ilysian Grove / Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth help me to use my Fetchlands without actually fetching. One bonus that I did get is that the Fetchlands combo nicely with Lotus Cobra to produce 3 mana with one land-drop.

If you don’t think it's too slow, I feel like Urza's Saga would be a great addition to the deck!
December 14, 2021 2:29 a.m.
Funny you'd say that, because I actually do find it too slow. Also, I don't really have the space for it, and I expect it to be banned eventually. So I don't really want to invest into it.
I'd have to cut a land that produces colored mana, or a utility land of some kind, and I just find the other lands in the deck more useful overall, since they do something right away. Urza's Saga is basically only useful to me when it blows itself up, and if I don't already have Amulet of Vigor out, which means my hand was kind of bad already. I basically see it as a slower, slightly more consistent Ancient Stirrings that uses my land drop for the turn, and puts me back a land eventually (it can find Amulet of Vigor but it still needs to survive for those turns).
It's also a lot more susceptible to removal due to being an enchantment, which makes the putting me back a land part even more relevant and likely.
So in summary, I just see way more cons than pros with this particular card, so I don't think I'll be adding it to this deck anytime soon. If I didn't think it'd be getting banned eventually, I'd consider it for my prison version, where putting lands into the graveyard benefits my overall strategy.

I like trying out Crumble to Dust. It's also kind of okay against control decks using Creeping Tar Pit and Celestial Colonnade as their win conditions.
