I finally got my deck to the point where I can face a Blood Moon and actually recover half the time before even sideboarding. That impresses even me as that's probably this deck's biggest threat (although I did face a deck with Worship and a bunch of flyers and was like wtf; had to keep swinging with titans for deck thinning hoping to find one of my only 2 answers mainboard - got my deck down to 12 cards and still didn't see a single Beast Within talk about bad luck).

I am very grateful for the problem matches where I lose first game though, because they force me to take a look at my deck and see what I can improve to make it better.

So I added in Mosswort Bridge in response to that game where I couldn't find an answer soon enough, and I have to say, this card is doing wonders for the deck (although I also changed Beast Within to Abrupt Decay so I no longer have an answer mainboard to worship). I can actually find responses in a timely manner now, and it definitely can make some clutch plays (i've fetched it and kessig with titan then hid a Patron of the Moon which i used to swing for a lethal azusa through a Ensnaring Bridge already. It truly adds a lot more options to the deck.

It seems imposibble that you get enough mana to win turn 2. Please walk through the easist turn 2 win the deck has to offer in the description, you throw a bunch of card names around but never explain how you deal lethal turn 2 (this would require haste, would it not? your only source is Slayers' Stronghold )

All that said, Amulet of Vigor + Primeval Titan + bounce lands = HOLY ****, +1

Good to hear about the blood moon matchup. If I can get my hands on a second of Primeval Titan s I'll join in on helping you fine tune this deck even further. I love it.

I have a somewhat related deck: R.U.N. or D.I.E..

Thanks, I'm currently looking for a catch all answer to problem permanents (although I don't want to go back to Beast Within over Abrupt Decay main board, as the latter is generally more useful). It'll probably be for my sideboard, to replace Abrupt Decay when I need it. Can anyone think of anything better than Beast Within for that purpose?

Right now I have Maelstrom Pulse but that doesn't deal with lands in decks like tron. I originally thought of playtesting Oblation in its place, but then realized it wasn't modern legal...

hmm i shall consider that one, it has potential, thanks. My question is, is he better than Terastodon though (since they are pretty much the same thing)? They both have their potential pros and cons, so I am currently undecided which I will choose If I can potentially make room for one.

I don't know if I can fit either one in my side atm, because I am still trying to find really good control players so I can playtest to see if the deck is resilient enough without the vexing shushers (those two spots would help SO much). I mean it does ramp heavily, and the ramping is "potential ramp" that you can't really counter. It's a control players worst nightmare, because any turn you can cast off 3 threats or more without any warning.

I haven't really needed the Vexing Shusher s in any of the playtesting I've done thus far, but I also haven't played against anyone I'd consider a top caliber control player, so I can't really say I don't need them as of yet.

Ugh, idk Woodfall Primus doesn't seem as devastating against tron, which is the main thing I would side him in for. But when facing a deck with Surgical Extraction and the like (for my titans), he is clearly the better option. Does anyone see any way to squeeze both in possibly lol?

Squeeze both in where, Primus & Extraction in the side?

Woodfall Primus and Terastodon - I already did some shuffling of lands putting the Cavern of Souls I had sided into the main for a Tendo Ice Bridge , as I removed some of the black costs I had from Abrupt Decay and put some Ratchet Bomb in the main earlier. I think it should work out for the better, having a broader scope of answers (plus it greatly increases my odds in a few problem matches game 1 - affinity, hexproof, etc.)

I think it looks okay now, but if you see any further switches that might improve it in any way, be sure to let me know. Any other ideas would be cool too, I do like Woodfall Primus

Thanks for all the help.

I'm thinking you can take out that Ghost Quarter for either of the big green WMDs, seeing as I'm assuming it's for Tron and those guys can knock stuff out, too.

As for your inquiry about Vexing Shusher , I'm not sure he's worth it here. Usually (hopefully) you can outpace counterspells, and if not then in all honestly the game is only going downhill.

I might suggest, instead of beating around the bush and making something uncounterable, just use an uncounterable threat. Gaea's Revenge comes to mind, but there might be something better.

Very good points!

I do use Ghost Quarter against tron mostly, although I sometimes target myself for a Forest against Blood Moon before it resolves.

Yes I can generally outpace control, but I don't want to completely abandon having something against them. Self contained threats sounds like a good idea, I'll look into it.

So I'm looking at Spellbreaker Behemoth / Gaea's Revenge / Leyline of Lifeforce (which would have to be a 3 of for me to use) against the control matches. What looks like the best option in your opinion?

March 17, 2014 6:42 p.m.

Jay says... #23

Spellbreaker looks pretty solid, although I might test with Leyline of Lifeforce . I like that you can follow up Spellbreaker with a Prime Time or whatever, but I dunno how hard it is to hit that RR without Tooth and Nail .

Do some testing, I'm interested to see the results.

Alright, so after some playtesting I found that Leyline of Lifeforce wasn't cutting it, so it's down to the creatures. I think I might do 1 of each, just so it can't be Meddling Mage 'd or something game 3, as they both seem to be fairly viable. I added another Gruul Turf to help support the red cost also, so I shouldn't see too many issues there (and another Tendo Ice Bridge in place of Azusa, Lost but Seeking since someone pointed out I can't kill it off with another one for 2 more land drops like I used to able to, M14 rule change).
