I've considered both and kind of ruled them out already.. the reason being is that Blightning is about direct damage and non selective discard, whereas my deck runs off of killing off creatures to either clear the field or power up my vampires with Blade of the Bloodchief .
And as far as Gatekeeper of Malakir goes, he is an amazing card, but the 2 black and then the one more for the kicker can be a killer and I already run a lot of mono color intensive creatures that can be a pain to get out.. but I do like the sacrifice part of the Gatekeeper along with getting a 2/2 creature, I think I'll give him a try to see if he has a place in the deck! Thanks for the input and don't forget the +1 if you liked my deck!

Very nice deck! I love tribal vampires, and this is definitely one of the better ones out there in my opinion. Just a few suggestions, maybe consider Captivating Vampire, Kalastria Highborn, Bloodline Keeper Flip? I highly recommend Stromkirk Captain as well.

Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it! I've tried out and tested just about every vampire in the book for this deck and most of those just don't quite seem to fit the build, I may however try them out again since I have made some changes over time. Thanks for the input!

Ahh, ok. Well you would certainly know more about this deck than I would.

Ha, I have been playing it for a while and over awhile I just ruled out what things that don't have enough synergy to make the cut, I think I may pop in a couple of Stromkirk Captains again to see how they work out for me. Thanks again. :)

Oh ok. Hope it works out! Just out of curiosity, do you want to test out this vs. my Swarm and Conquer deck via Lackey? I'm trying to get a feel of how well Swarm will do against other good Modern decks.

Viscera Seer ? for the blade?
also maybe Burst Lightning instead of Incinerate ? i like the kicker for late game boom.

Ooh, I really like the Viscera Seer especially in unison with Bloodghast and Blood Artist I can't believe I overlooked that, thank you for the suggestion, I will definitely use that! And I'm not sure about the Burst Lightning as opposed Incinerate I do like the late game idea though. I will try it out, but most of the time I'm equipping and doing things of that nature, so I don't think it would fit my deck build, but for the Viscera Seer I will definitely work him in, thank you :)
Other than that, how do you like the deck?

it's very similar to mine although i use Duress
, Burst Lightning
and i don't have any new vamp cards so i have nothing from the Innistrad or Ravnica block.
I want to add Blood Artist
s.
B/R vamps rule though.
It gives me food for thought.

Awesome, I gatta give love to a fellow B/R Vampire player, interesting how you don't have red Innistrad vamps though, I think there are some really amazing B/R and Red vampires out there from those sets. If you want to link your vampire deck I'd be more than happy to look at it though. :D

hmm. let me see if i still have it up on T/O. i don't think i have updated it.
i still Anowon, the Ruin Sage . sometimes it is like i never left zendikar.

Just by the sound of it Blood Artist should be in that deck, lol. Anowon, the Ruin Sage and a couple of Blood Artist s on the field.. brutal.

anyway. that build is out of date, because i have also been playing with mainboard Anowon, duress, and 2x Bituminous Blast , because killing a creature and getting a creature in return is badass.

Still it looks very solid! Also, gatta love that hand disruption. :)

why no Stromkirk Captain ? sad face. but yea imma give a +1 because i dont often see pure Vamp aggro decks do well that often.

@ApocryphalSaint: First off thank you very much for your +1 and your compliment!
Second, I have toyed around with Stromkirk Captain for a long time, and although he is an amazing card for most Vampire builds, I found that on turn 3 I want to be dropping a few creatures, attaching Blade of the Bloodchief to one of my Vampire weenies and using a kill card to get through, or controlling someone's hand with a little bit of disruption. And the 3CMC cards in my deck are fairly solid and working well for me at the moment! Thank you for your suggestions and I never rule out any Vampire that is as good as Stromkirk Captain and as my deck evolves he may find his way back in my deck once again. :)

yea no problem i figured it was something like that. its got a good ability but with double strike it becomes moot. hey if youll do me a favor i want feedback on Eagles and Sh*t which is my modern America deck. if AMERICA isnt your flavor take a look at my Open the Heaven's Angel deck. If you dont look at either ill hate you forever ;)
