i think Garruk, Caller of Beasts , but i run Garruk, Primal Hunter and Garruk Wildspeaker in my green deck. I'm not sure how much u want to hurt your genenis wave, but i would consider some Overwhelming Stampede s, since u have so much beefy creatures that would give them +8+8 or more. i would also take out one Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx for a forest since they are legendary

I'd say Garruk, Primal Hunter , because he lets you draw cards. Wildspeaker is tempting because he lets you untap Nykthos, but Primal Hunter is easier to keep alive because his +1 also gives him a blocker.

I would cut the Primalcrux es for Garruk, since a he doesn't do enough at 6 mana, unlike Deity of Scars , who can regenerate a couple of times.

Thanks guys for the comments!

@easywreck Overwhelming stampede is pretty cool ill def think about it. nykthos is the deck. i dont care if its legendary it is hard to win without it. 4 is absolutley neccesary

@MaxLm alright so no common consensus on which garruk to use but wildspaeker actually seems really good because he fills up the 4 drop slot, his ultimate would work kinda like Overwhelming Stampede . no to mention nykthos is what this deck is all about. Primalcrux is a boss because this deck is all about green mana symbols, i think ill take out 2 Omnath, Locus of Mana for 2 garruk. although which garruk i don't know.

Just wondering, why are you using Arbor Elf , instead of Voyaging Satyr ? You can untap Nykthos for some sick ramping with the Satyr.

@Threk Arbor Elf plays on turn one. I might replace 4x Sylvan Caryatid for Voyaging Satyr but the caryatid is good against removal and aggro decks.

It plays on turn one, but it's not nearly as effective as the Satyr is. I'd say swap the Elves and Satyrs, Caryatids are too good to be changed imo.

i understand that you need alot of mana for Khalni Hydra and Primalcrux but why not mana x cost cards? it would be amazing if you had a Kalonian Hydra or two. I would add the two Mistcutter Hydra they would also be amazing. Also Primordial Hydra . hope this helped :)

@SphinxOfChimes1080 I have Mistcutter Hydra in the sb against control decks. Genesis Wave is a powerful x spell which doesn't die to Doom Blade :). The hydras also don't have many green mana symbols for Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx

ahh nykthos forgot about that facepalm

Why not add a Karametra's Acolyte in there it works well with Khalni Hydra to boost mana to insane levels

There's a lot of creature hatred in modern. Damnation , Supreme Verdict , Wrath of God etc.

What has science done?!?!

November 23, 2013 11:18 a.m.

The problem with devotion is that it forces you to overcommit to the board, so if you get boardwiped, that's game.

Which is the point I made above.

I know, I was just trying to elaborate a bit. :)

@ ChiefBell and?

November 23, 2013 3:46 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #20

So you play Genesis Wave and put all of your creatures onto the board. They have summoning sickness and can't do anything. In the opponents turn they play Damnation or any board clear and you instantly lose.

@ChiefBell craterhoof behemoth....

November 23, 2013 4:09 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #22

I understand. Great call. Have to be careful that he's not removed or just mass blocked. But yeh..... that'd do it!

November 23, 2013 4:13 p.m.

Craterhoof Behemoth won't save you from a Supreme Verdict . This deck generally combos off around turn 6, and getting wiped in the meanwhile is game. You need your board presence to make so much mana, and getting your entire suite of devotion cleared off is a crushing defeat.

Just pointing out a major weakness of this deck. Splashing white for Rootborn Defenses or black for Golgari Charm might help.
