I wanted to make a deck that centered around the Vizkopa Guildmage/Exquisite Blood combo. It started off as an orzhov deck but it seemed like I was always looking for more draw and not finding it so I decided to splash blue for more draw and a little added control.
I am still play testing the deck- it does very well vs. that Angel of Glory's Rise combo deck. It has a lot of tools to deal with RDW. It laughs at control. It still feels a little hit-or-miss,though- if you draw the right cards in the right order, you steamroll the competition with no worries. If you don't, you're dead. I am trying to make that second part happen as infrequently as possible.
MAIN-
Draw: Sign in Blood, Think Twice
Control: All the enchantments, Cyclonic Rift
Combo: Vizkopa Guildmage, Exquisite Blood
SIDEBOARD-
Elixir of Immortality- vs. control, mil, discard. Can also set off your combo.
Glaring Spotlight- lets you laugh at Bant hexproof/auras.
Illness in the Ranks- lets you laugh at tokens.
Negate- catch-all vs. Paraselene, Slaughter Games, planeswalkers, counters, other spells that would otherwise disrupt your plan.
Rest in Peace- lets you laugh at Frites, that Angel of Glory's Rise combo deck, people who mill themselves.
Witchbane Orb- protects you from burn, mill, discard, and combines with Sphere of Safety to make you invulnerable vs. anyone who isn't running the appropriate countermeasures (which is a lot of people since this deck isn't exactly on the radar.)
Suggestions from people familiar with tournament play and the Standard metagame are desired! Thank you in advance for your help.
