What if I made some sort of giant wurm type thing that has convoke and makes a token for each creature that convoked it?

I do like that, but I’d suggest making it overcosted, multicolored (probably Selesnya), and having the tokens be small.

For that kind of ability, saluma, it would be simpler to just have a creature with "When ~ enters the battlefield, tap any number of other untapped creatures you control. Create X ~/~ creature tokens equal to the number of creatures tapped this way." Putting into the mana cost without it being an X/X seems a bit odd to me. It's already true that Convoke can only be used by tapping creatures, but it can also satisfy colored mana requirements if the tapped creature shares a color. If we're thinking of a card like Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis where you can only cast the card by using convoke, you can up the power of it a lot since it's harder to cast a spell without using any mana. That depends on if Benthehen333 wants to add Convoke as another ability to the set or not. It can be pretty decently rephrased without using the keyword (kind of like how landfall keeps appearing in sets without the actual landfall word appearing like with Tatyova, Benthic Druid or pseudo annihilator on Bane of Bala Ged).

I’d suggest changing the ability to “When CARDNAME enters the battlefield, create a 1/1 Green Wurm creature token for each creature you tapped to cast this spell.”

Keep the X in the CMC, so they can pay as much as they want. An example of this is the Simic kicker payoff legendary creature from ZNR.

Just realized that Ben hadn’t been the one to throw out the idea. Either way, my suggestion stands.

What if I used Convoke as one of the two main Selesnya abilities, and actually made cards that benefit from casting Convoke spells? Like a W/G enchantment that says "whenever you cast a spell with Convoke, draw a card" or something.

New cards: Broodmother Wurm, Wildgrowth Dryad, and Cleanse with Flame. Thoughts?

Cleanse: Assuming that black is majority artifacts, it’s great. If black isn’t super high on colored artifacts (I.E. if I could pretty easily make a black deck with only 1-3, that were low cost/not bombs), I’d suggest moving it down to common.

Broodmother: Can it be a 6/6? Or a 5/5? 7/7 trample is good even without convoke, let alone making tokens. Also, I’m not sure “convoked” is a term in magic. You could make it one, but I think it’s easier to say “Create a number of STATS TYPES tokens equal to the amount of creatures you tapped to cast this spell” instead.

Dryad: I think the last bit should be “if you tapped 2 or more creatures to cast this spell, EXTRA LAND EFFECT TEXT”.

VampDemigod - I could downshift Cleanse, Venerated Loxodon is the convoke boi, and good point on the Dryad! I also just finished Firebolt Mage (red) and Eclectic Engine (R/W).

My thoughts on the Mage: it should probably be a 2/1, and the kicker should be upped by at least . Let’s revisit this one later though, damage-based removal may need to be re-evaluated when we have the full set. Also, the any target seems strong, if you keep it, I’d recommend downsizing to 3 and 6, but I’d recommend making it target creature (or creature/planewalker).

I like deny access. It’s nice and balanced, not quite a bulk uncommon, but pretty niche, the kind of uncommon that sits around $.25, and is a gem for budget brewers, but only in certain decks. 5/5, wouldn’t change a thing. (Please note, even uncommons should have a variety of power levels, it’s not health for every uncommon to be this power level, but I do enjoy when a set has some of these.
