Maybeboard

Creature (1)

The aim here is to turn Volrath, the Shapestealer into Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God's passive by turning him into any walker on the board.

The combo is:

Turn into artifact:

Mycosynth Lattice, Liquimetal Coating, or Memnarch

Turn artifact into creature:

There are a number of planeswalkers that do this, in addition to Karn, Silver Golem or Xenic Poltergeist.

You need to move a loyalty counter onto Volrath or he will die as a state based action, so:

Nesting Grounds (hence the 2 land tutors - Tolaria West and Expedition Map), The Ozolith + anything that flickers or blinks a creature (your walkers are creatures), or Slippery Bogbonder (doubles as a weird counterspell too, and hexproof is great)

To copy your own planeswalker:

Mirror Gallery or Sakashima of a Thousand Faces

As you probably noticed the desired outcome (amassing loyalty counters on Volrath and doing shenanigans) requires a lot of pieces. This means the deck needs two things: to survive into the later turns of the game, and to tutor the many pieces included. This lends itself to a toolbox strategy, where the aim is to include a lot of cards that can do multiple things for the deck and have efficient ways to reach those answers.

Trinket Mage can be used to fetch Pithing Needle, Meekstone, or Expedition Map to get to important utility lands.

The lands are one strategy to prevent your opponents from winning quickly, where Strip Mine is efficient removal. Another strategy is planeswalkers like Narset, Parter of Veils or Ashiok, Dream Render which slow down other decks. In addition this deck includes efficient spot removal like Karn Liberated, Hurkyl's Recall (remember you can turn artifacts into permanents), and Oko, Thief of Crowns (sorry, I know. He makes artifacts, turns artifacts into creatures for the combo, and is excellent removal. Not to mention, he can turn any permanent controller by an opponent into an elk with something like Liquimetal Coating in play).

Synergy:

If Volrath is turned into Karn Liberated, his abilities referring to exiled cards will use all cards exiled using other planeswalker abilities by Volrarh (think Ashiok, Dream Render [-1] into Karn [-14])

Teferi, Master of Time can help volrath amass loyalty counters by ticking both up every turn (THAT'S A LOTTA CARD SELECTION!)

The artifact subtheme in this deck is expensive, but I think it is the correct use of those slots. Most of the combo pieces are artifacts, and the deck likes turning things into artifacts. Therefore, planeswalkers that tutor for combo pieces like Tezzeret the Seeker can also access the artifact toolbox. Moreover, Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge is a work horse in this deck. Lastly, artifacts are among the most efficient ways to ramp, and the necessary plays in this deck take a lot of mana. Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy and Urza, Lord High Artificer can generate huge amounts of mana cheaply.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions, I am always open to criticism!
