The basic principle of this deck is to get as many beneficial counters as you can on as many of your permanents as possible. Vorel of the Hull Clade makes it possible to put counters on cards that normally can't get more than they enter the battlefield with, which extends the usefulness of cards like Fertilid, Pentad Prism, and Graft cards, beefs up cards with enter-the-battlefield +1/+1 counters (see: Hydras), and speeds up cards like Magistrate's Scepter (which, conincidentally, can be used for an infinite turn combo). There are a few cards with Proliferate, though they're to support Vorel rather than increase Poison counters. I'm usually on a budget, so I tried to keep the price of this deck under $50.

Edit: I made this deck a few years ago, and then I forgot about it. Alas, it is no longer as budget as it once was. (It was ~$50 when I last updated it around the WAR release 2 1/2ish years ago, in case you’re curious.)

Edit 2 (4/22/22): Shoutout to Finale of Devastation for being 30% of this deck's price. If you somehow stumbled across this and are interested in making a more budget-friendly version of the deck, substitute Finale, Pemmin's Aura, Pir, Imaginative Rascal, Toothy, Imaginary Friend, Hinterland Harbor, and Botanical Sanctum with cards that are not 10+ dollars. My suggestions include Rampant Rejuvenator, Ascendant Acolyte, Fathom Mage, Simic Ascendancy, Replicating Ring, basic lands, or anything else you think would have fun and/or interesting interactions with Vorel.
