Maybeboard

I first built this deck back in early 2017 because I was brewing around with an Atraxa, Praetors' Voice deck but I wanted something that felt more explosive. So I started looking at other counter commanders and turned to Vorel of the Hull Clade to be the new commander. Despite me beginning to brew this deck in 2017 I never finished it, as at the time my only other commander deck was also blue green and I decided I wanted my second deck to be a different color combination. This deck was left untouched until spring of 2022 when I went back to re-examine old deck list ideas and decided to re-tune and finish this deck.

This deck is a charge counter value combo deck.

The Main win-cons/play patterns of the deck tend to focus around

Darksteel Reactor OR Magistrate's Scepter

Darksteel Reactor: Indestructible artifacts are a pain to deal with. This allows it to sit on the battlefield longer then Magistrate Scepter but also players tend to ignore it thinking they have more time to deal with it then they actually have. Especially as many people read the card and don't fully realize it can win the game at any point not just the upkeep.
Magistrate's Scepter: This technically doesn't win the game on its own. However Infinite turns offers tons of flexibility, the simplest and easiest is to just drop a Laboratory Maniac and draw out. A t3 win is technically possible if nobody has any interaction. all it needs is 4 lands (that enter untapped and one needs to produce green mana), Sol Ring, core tapper, and Magistrate Scepter. Turn one: land play sol ring tap to play core core tapper, Turn 2: land play Vorel from command zone, Turn 3: play the scepter using sol ring mana tap core tapper and sacrifice core tapper putting 3 counters on the scepter, and then use Vorel's ability to double 3 to 6, and finally tap the scepter remove 3 counters getting an extra turn while leaving 3 behind 3 counters to be double on the extra turn. Another example If Contagion Clasp Vorel of the Hull Clade and Surge Node with at least 1 counter left on it, are all already on the battlefield at the start of the turn the scepter can go infinite the turn its cast. It works as surge node is +1 counter then proliferate is another +1counter and then vorel's ability making it 4 counters then -3 ability to take an extra turn leaves 1 counter behind to rinse and repeat. This is considerable more mana intensive as it would need 10 mana to do it in one turn but late game its not too difficult.

And finally I have to mention Laboratory Maniac This card actually wins most of the time with deck through magistrate infinite turns. It can also win the game with,Arcane Spyglass, Grindclock, Otherworld Atlas, Fathom Mage, and probably a few others as well. However due to lab man being a creature and not an artifact the deck doesn't have a lot of good ways of finding it except by drawing more cards. SO majority of the early game of the deck is trying to set up a board for the scepter or reactor to flourish.

TL;DR

Deck wants to primarily win with Darksteel Reactor or Magistrate Scepter + Laboratory Maniac
