Team Loco Pantalones

Translated - Team Crazy Pants

... I dunno, I'll think of something as I'm mowing the yard probably.

Who all is on our team? That could spark an idea.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Mpz5... or Chris is fine. Been on tapped out for about as long as Leaf, I tend to be pretty good at draft in general. Been playing since the original Ravnica, been playing competitively since the middle of worldwake.

Let's kick some butt.

Yea, as your fearless leader I should probably introduce myself. My name is Ian and I started playing back when M11 came out, just before Scars nlock. I'm mostly if not all casual with a side of competitive desire. I made my name with my friends for being an awesome limited player that excels in tribal decks like Vampires, Goblins, and my most successful deck, Illusions.

As Chris has said, let's kick some butt!

Hey, my name is Jacob. I started playing right as the Scars block came out. I started out mostly a casual player, ya know, kitchen table kinda stuff. Lately I've been becoming more and more competitive. I do have experience with drafting, and I am excited to be on this team! I do have a love of Goats (Exclusively in mtg), and am currently striving to make a competitive goat deck.

My vote for our team name?

"Team Capre che volano"

Italian for "Team Goats that fly"

(It sounds better if you read it in an Italian accent...)

Hello fellas, Name's Alex. I've played casually for about 10 years. Just started getting into standard and Limited in the past year or so. I love to draft. I do all right most of the time and I would do a lot better if I didn't get mana screwed half the time (literally).

As far as name goes, how about team "Final Draft." If that's no good, I do like Leafs_suck idea in comment #5. How do you say "Channel Fireball" in Latin.

As far as strategy goes, I have actually drafted tripple this set a few times on a semi-competitive level. What we will have is super consistency, which is a lot of fun in draft. One of them, I ended up stupid good. I had 4 cyclops, 4 far and away, 2 turn and burn, a mutagenic growth, 2 vapors, a punish the enemy, and flux charger, and an atherling. The deck destroyed, but I got fed a lot of it by inexperienced drafters around me.

My idea is this:

We prioritize gatekeepers, gates, and bombs. I have played against decks like that in normal draft and they are nigh unstoppable if they live until the 4th turn. The gatekeepers are value town, and have a pretty nice back-end on them. You eventually overwhelm your opponent with pure value while you clog the field with big bodies. Add a few bombs to the deck (which can really be any color if we get enough gates), and we have a powerful deck. It should be easy to piece together with 3 packs of DGM since people pull it off with just 1 sometimes.

Thoughts? Opinions? Violent disagreements?

1st pack is in the maybeboard. What do ya'll think?

GIVE / TAKE would be my pick. Even if we end up only playing the green half, 3 counters is pretty good. If we can play both it gets better.

I think it all sucks.

My vote would be Runner's Bane.

It was the sleeper card of my DGM pre-release. It will help us stall and is easily splash able. Stopping up to 3 damage a turn in a slow format would do wonders for us. There is nothing even close to "OMG WE HAVE TO TAKE IT", so I think something that can cure so many different creatures is the best we can do here.

Give/take isn't terrible, but I was never super happy with it. It depends on our strat. Thoughts on mine?

If we do go my route, I'd suggest we go Runner's Bane. It's cheap removal which in draft is always nice. If we go the gates route, we need to be able to stall for the first 3 turns before our deck "turns on". It's the perfect card for that. Also deals well with druids and small fliers that will try to ruin our day.

Runner's Bane get's my vote.

I think the strat can work, we just have to see how the cards flow. A slower approach seems to fit the format.
