anyone keep track of what the packs we've already seen had in them?
July 26, 2013 1:05 p.m.
I guess with EVEN MORE guildgate fixing, we'll be able to more aggressively push 4 colors.
I can't shake the feeling that we're missing something, though.
July 26, 2013 1:14 p.m.
This sucks.
With this gate, we'd have 9. That's over 1/3 of the gates belonging to ONE team. Our opponents are gonna be restricted to mostly 2 color, MAYBE a small splash of a 3rd color.
+1 Dimir Guildgate , but this should be our last gate.
July 26, 2013 1:40 p.m.
Absolutely should be our last gate. We need to find some value in these next few picks.
July 26, 2013 2:09 p.m.
Personally, I think it's hilarious that we have a third of the gates. Means that they will likely get color screwed as often as we do trying to go 2 or 3 colors while we go 4. I would like some drakes, phantasms, and gatekeepers. Let's cross our fingers. We need creatures from here on out IMO.
July 26, 2013 2:21 p.m.
@IAmKingTony: Oh I guess that is true of the Murmuring Phantasm . That's does make me feel better about opponents potentially having those wolf riders.
@Mpz5: I was also thinking about that, having one third of all the gates is funny. I really think what we've done has messed up a lot of fixing for the other teams. They'll probably have to rely on Cluestones or just splitting basic lands.
At this point my wishlist includes any of the following: Deputy of Acquittals
, Murmuring Phantasm
, Unflinching Courage
, Far / Away
, Ascended Lawmage
, Haunter of Nightveil
.
I actually wouldn't mind another non-red gate like Azorius, Selesnya, Orzhov, Golgari, Dimir, or Simic. It would mean potentially fewer lands needed in total to get our colors.

no more gatekeepers
they help us not lose, they don't help us win
July 26, 2013 2:42 p.m.
sewellius, this is pack 7. We didn't see any, if not much of, those creatures in the packs that were passed. We gotta be careful these last few picks.

imo Deputy of Acquittals is our top want, imagine having 3 of them and being able to reuse our gatekeepers
secondly if we have our Abomination out, they turn into Ambush Viper s with +1 toughness
July 26, 2013 2:45 p.m.
It's worth noting, I think, that the gate pick here does give us additional value.
We have more fixing, so we can push our good cards from each color more aggressively into our deck, without having to perhaps cut back on a particular color. We can splash harder.

While acquittal would be better... a gatekeeper is still a 2/4 dude, and gives us board presence, life gain, or card advantage... Not sure why you think we wouldn't benefit from more. They will do just as much to win as deputy will. Our win cons are debt, our bomb, and unflinching. Profit/loss could also serve as a sneaky win con as well in some situations. What we need now is to be able to survive until we can get one of them online.
July 26, 2013 4:52 p.m.
Another Sunspire Gatekeepers would also work well with Profit / Loss and Bronzebeak Moa , aside from simply having two bodies in one.
And yes, my wishlist is very much only a wishlist. Realistically we might get one or two things from there. I'm just... wishing.

Deputy over Gatekeepers because...
Deputy gives us extra use out of the keepers we already have, giving us no need for others.
Deputy can be an Ambush Viper with our Abomination out, basically a removal spell except for against first strike or flying dudes.
Deputy can save one of our important parts (Moa, Haunter, Abomination, Teysa) from removal.
Speaking of Moa, Deputy also can serve as a Giant Growth for him.
Potential to flash him in at opponent's EOT and stick our Unflinching Courage on against a tapped out opponent.
etc.
really I wish we could have 4 or 5 of them
July 26, 2013 5:06 p.m.
Oh, I agree, he would be nice, but I think that gatekeepers, especially another sunspire would be nice as well.
July 26, 2013 5:20 p.m.
Given the choice, I -would- take a Deputy over a Sunspire Gatekeeper (and Sunspire over other gatekeepers) if they both came in the same pack.
I doubt we will have to make that choice, though.
July 26, 2013 7:01 p.m.
Guildgate wins.
Creatures from here on out boys and possibly girls!
July 27, 2013 12:37 a.m.
I'm gonna make a new deck and try to hammer out what our deck would look like currently to see what we're dealing with.
July 27, 2013 12:58 a.m.
I've invited you all to the deck that I made. Find it the same way you found this one.
We can start our discussions there.
July 27, 2013 1:12 a.m.
hmm... I'm going to be honest and say I have no recollection of how you invited us to this thing.
July 27, 2013 2:06 a.m.
Go to your page and scroll down. Under the decks on your profile it'll show decks you've been invited to see. It'll be there.

Wolf-Rider is a great five drop but one that our deck doesn't really want, I mean I guess we can take it but it's just another thing we already have plenty of, albeit maybe with a bit more power.
Also to note, Armored Wolf-Rider is worthless to opponents if we have Murmuring Phantasm s out.
