+1 ORZHOV GUILDGATE
It's in our colors regardless of how many gatekeepers we end up with.

+1 orzhov guildgate
It works for us. so i'm happy about it. Also, is that a third nivix cyclops?
June 28, 2013 2:05 p.m.
Back from Vacation, looks like we've stuck to the same idea since I was gone. That's great!
+1 Orzhov Guildgate
It's a gate, and both colors look to be very applicable to our current picks.
June 28, 2013 2:05 p.m.
Get gates now, they're going to go up in demand as we get further into this. By the third pack, someone will take a gate and pass a Hired Torturer to us, so I expect it to come full circle.
But, damn, so many Nivix Cyclops in this pack.
June 28, 2013 2:07 p.m.
If the first cyclops rotates... I'd be tempted to pick it up if we would have a shot at all 3. I'm pretty sure that someone downstream of us opened a bomb blue/red or something and has been snatching them up. Something to watch out for. Might be worth picking up a late Riot Control . The field will be flooded, and it will also help us if they cast a double spell and swing with 4 cyclops. At least from the sideboard against that deck.

Sorry I'm so late on this pack, but Orzhov Guildgate was the obvious pick.
+1 Orzhov Guildgate (even thought it doesn't matter now :P)

Sinister Possession? I'm not seeing it.
I'd either go Wind Drake, Hired Torturer, or Bronzebeak Moa. Let's here some debate about those 3, neither one would be a bad choice for this deck. I dislike that we have no fliers to stall out the air, or push damage through... but a 3ed turn 2/3 blocker that can grind 2 damage and give info whenever we have nothing else to do with the mana is nice too. The Bronzebeak Moa is just a beast... imagine having unflinching courage on that sucker, dropping a gatekeeper, then swinging... ouch.
I'm leaning more toward Hired Torturer, but I want to hear what you guys think before I make my decision. I was really hoping for a gate here.
June 29, 2013 3:24 a.m.
I would just roll with the Bronzebeak Moa. Wind Drake is unimpressive, we've seen so many Hired Torturers that I'm not worried about passing one more, and Sinister Possession doesn't have much oomph to it.
Bronzebeak Moa, on the other hand, is very powerful, especially if we get Sunspire Gatekeepers in our deck (which seems likely given our trajectory). Suddenly we have an 8/8. We're still getting passed powerful Green/White cards, so we might want to go for it.

This card can be absolutely awesome, It's also the only uncommon of the cards being discussed, which means we are going to see fewer of them come around.
June 29, 2013 3:53 a.m.
Wasn't even thinking about the sunspire... this could be even sicker and a great target for our unflinching. Decision is made.
June 29, 2013 4:45 a.m.
aren't we a little worried about our 4 drops though? I mean, we've got 3 with the Moa, and presumably we're going to get more gatekeepers for our deck theme, wouldn't adding non gatekeeper 4 drops just congest our 4 drop slot?
June 29, 2013 8:29 a.m.
In a slow format, curve isn't as important as it would be otherwise. We should have enough raw value with the gatekeepers to make up for some early aggression. It's another reason I'm all over all the Saruli Gatekeepers that we can grab. The number of 2 and 3 drops in this format are pretty limited.
Boros Mastiff, Deputy of Acquittals, Kraul Warrior, Riot Piker, Spike Jester, Tithe Drinker, and Woodlot Crawler
are the only 2 drops in common/uncommon to worry about.
Battering Krasis, Beetleform Mage, Feral Animist, Rakdos Drake, Sin Collector, Viashino Firstblade, and Wind Drake
are the only 3 drop common / uncommons that we have to worry about giving us any early aggression.
We are dropping a gatekeeper the next turn. No one will be able to kill us that quickly. As long as we don't keep dumb hands, and we don't skimp on the lands in the deck, We should be just fine running all 4 drops. We won't be though. I'd love to see a hired torturer or 2, a few tithe drinker's and maybe even a few late pick 2 drops for the deck. That's my thought on the matter.
June 29, 2013 11:03 a.m.
fair enough. I'm Still going to say +1 Torturer. I feel that the only way we get value out of our moa is if we can keep drawing creatures to play after we've got that on the field. It's a great creature, but i feel we'll get more value with the torturer.

Yes, let's take another 4 drop for our Gatekeepers deck. -__-
I vote for Hired Torturer since that has votes already, although I'd rather pick Wind Drake.
June 29, 2013 1:12 p.m.
My only concern with passing the moa is that we already gave the group to our left a pretty strong g/w card. If they see another, they might decide it's open and then it's not available for us second pack. The moa is very powerful, one of the best targets we can have for our Unflinching Courage , especially if we grab some Sunspire Gatekeepers s to go along with it. We will run through them with it. We will see more torturers and drakes, less drakes, but still, we will see them.

Hey guys, sorry about the late vote I was at a funeral. My vote goes for Moa, most of the time in draft, creatures win games. Bronzebeak Moa is a total powerhouse, especially when paired with Sunspire. I also agree that we shouldn't give the people to or left a signal that G/W is up for grabs, and inadvertently screw ourselves over when it comes to the next picks.
June 29, 2013 4:39 p.m.
This is the first pack. Relax dude. As I said. It's a super slow format anyway and even if we don't do anything until turn 4, we will probably be alright anyway.

We'll get some chances to pick low cost creatures. Kraul Warrior , Hired Torturer , Bane Alley Blackguard , Haazda Snare Squad , Boros Mastiff , and Tithe Drinker are all commons and on-color.
June 29, 2013 6:31 p.m.
Yea, this is only the firstpack, still have much more than 2/3 of our card pool to pick. We need to just take the best cards available to use in our strat.
Moa win 5 votes to 2. Next pack in 5 hrs 30 mins.
Deco_y says... #1
I love the idea of snatching most of the gates to screw everyone else, while also helping our strat. Suddenly, everyone else running 3 color decks could be more of a problem then the other groups hope.
