I know this is an old thread and I'm still new to this game so I'm wondering if this combo would work. Wouldn't the black assassin tokens work well with Blazing Torch to deal direct damage to the player and end the game?

Hi Zick, the thought is good, but Blazing Torch says: Blazing Torch deals 2 damage... so the damage gets dealt by the artifact, not the creature.

You could do it with something like Lightning Prowess which says: this creature deals 1 damage... so the damage gets dealt by the creature, and therefore the 1 damage is with the deathtouch

It is quite a shame that Vraska's win potential is negated by one simple Dreadbore , and god knows Rakdos aggro is all over the place right now. Risky to base the deck around one win condition.

She is one of the most interesting planeswalkers I have ever seen and I'd love to base a deck on her, but she's just so vulnerable to control/removal...

I think Champion of Lambholt would be amazing in this deck. With all the low mana creatures she would get strong quick, and then the opponents creatures couldn't block your tokens

I have almost the exact deck altho I love the idea of using Revenge of the Hunted I run my version with more of a turbo fog splash to it keeping Vraska alive while getting up her loyalty points... might I suggest along with Rancor adding Giant Growth it seems to help my deck alot. Great deck tho all in all.

Ever thought of Dolmen Gate ? Would allow for your deathtouch creatures to take on ANYTHING.

My personal solution in my Vraska deck is to use cards that make other cards fight, and then give the tokens trample. For example, if you use Prey Upon on one of your assasins in order to make it fight your opponents weakest creature, the use the instant Chorus of Might you can concievably win the same turn your assasin tokens are summoned. Another tactic for getting your assasins through is to use Korozda Guildmage to give your assasins intimidate. You already have Golgari Decoy in your deck, and Rancor , so you can either use him boosted to clear your opponents field or you could attack with both him and your assasins. Even if you don't get your assasins out, the combination of Chorus of Might and Golgari Decoy is devestating. I have already been running a deck with these above mentioned combos very effectively, with wins consistently happening between seven and ten turns.

Maybe think about throwing a couple Parallel Lives in there, getting 6, or if you have 2 on the field 12, assassins instead of 3?

Yes please!

Madnote, I love this deck and am working on constructing it. +1! I knew that it wouldn't take long for Vraska, The Unseen to be used. Her loyalty abilities are just too great to be ignored. I have to agree with luttinj that Parallel Lives would be a great addition to this deck (or any Vraska deck) but, going through the card list, I don't know which cards to take out.

I have 2 criticisms for this deck. One is that it's fairly slow. You get Vraska the Unseen out on turn 5, you activate her ultimate on turn 7, then attack with the tokens on turn 8, if you have a perfect game. However, against decks that run lots of small creatures, for example Tokens or Aggro Humans, you probably won't have enough Deathtouch creatures to get rid of all of them, which leaves Vraska very exposed. Even faster decks will be able to kill you before you get to turn 5 in the first place.

My second is that Vraska is your only real win condition, but the chances of you getting one aren't great. I'd add some Increasing Ambition to make sure you get a Vraska out. What to take out is the problem. It's your choice, but I would take out 1 Naturalize and 1 Revenge of the Hunted . Naturalize doesn't really fit in the deck as the whole point of the deck is to remove your opponent's creatures, but leave a couple in as enchantment and artifact removal is useful. Revenge of the Hunted is good, but you don't need them until the later game and if you draw one in your opening hand, they aren't that useful.

I have a similar deck. But I do agree with the people when they call this one too slow. Deadly Allure seems a bit redundant given that most of the creatures already have death touch. And the deck also seems to rely a bit too heavily on Vraska's ultimate, which are tough to actually get to in the first place.

When I built my Golgari deck, I felt I needed a board clearing card on hand to really take advantage of Vraska's ultimate as efficiently as possible. So I added 4 card:Life's Finale to my deck. All of my other spells simply destroy cards too. Murder , Victim of Night .

I also didn't want to solely rely on Vraska as my only game finisher. So I added Liliana Vess and a couple other things to reanimate everything I destroy.

Wasteland Viper would fit in perfectly with this deck

I would like to see Witchbane Orb to keep vraska alive if your opponent starts using burn cards to get at her.

i would suggest you add a few Viridian Claw , but i'm no sure if it is legal. it's as cheap as sharpened pitchfork and adds +1/+0

i also suggest to add a Viridian Longbow and attach it to your deathtouch creatures, which essentially gives you "tap: destroy target creature" which is the same as attacking except:you choose which creature to destroyit doesn't die.(it works because deathtouch is "Any amount of damage this deals to a creature is enough to destroy it.")

Gaze of the Gorgon is really fun against token decks :)

Bow of Nylea ? That way you can use some creatures without deathtouch?

September 29, 2013 3:58 a.m.

Madnote says... #19

The Bow of Nylea is amazing, even without its deathtouch component. Ultimately it did not make the cut as of now (which could change) because I am wanting to use the deathtouch creatures defensively, essentially as a deterrence to keep opponents from attacking while I am building up to a Vraska the Unseen or Hythonia the Cruel win. Since the bow only makes them deathtouch while attacking, an opponent with bigger creatures could simply not block, then stomp me on his turn. But, as I said, the bow is amazing and I am definitely still keeping it in mind while play testing.

I love this deck idea. It really helped in the building of my Vraska deck. Maybe add some Dash Hopes replacing a couple Thoughtseize because I find my Vraska has been Dreadbore or Hero's Downfall a lot. Also instead of having 4 Overgrown Tomb I run with 2 of them and 2 Golgari Rot Farm . I find it easier to get Vraska out early game with that. Thanks!

Did you tought about Sylvan Caryatid insted of Darksteel Ingot ? 1 less mana and Same effect and u have some more creatures. Maybe 4 of em and one fog less. Hope You like the idea

Madnote says... #22

The whole purpose of the Darksteel Ingot as opposed to some other mana ramp options was due to Gaze of Granite . Losing a mana ramper late game isn't too much of a dilemma, but I still like the fact it is safe from it.

Hi, this is a very cool deck, I've a fun combo you can include which can help Vraska's tokens to pass by killing all the opponent's board, Golgari Decoy + Gaze of the Gorgon . I tested it in a deck and, it's an horror for the mass tokens deck like Selesnia or humans. Have a good play.

Maybe for the Sideboard and then put Hero's Downfall also in the Sideboard

Thanks for the tip on Gaze of the Gorgon , it is really cool! Unfortunately it is not standard, so I would not be able to play it in this deck.
