I really wanted to use Vorel of the Hull Clade with Door of Destinies, so I looked at Humans and Merfolk (the two subtypes of Vorel of the Hull Clade, and decided humans would be easier. Sure, I didn't have to stay Simic, but Call to the Kindred and
Descendants' Path
are in the right colors too, so why not?
The goal is to use cheap Humans and Call to the Kindred /
Descendants' Path
to put charge counters on Door of Destinies. It's inspired by Modern Merfolk, but it doesn't have the tempo aspect....
Door of Destinies - the key card in the deck, name Humans and watch them grow!
Descendants' Path
- It specifically says "cast without paying its mana cost", not "put on the battlefield", so I think it still triggers Door of Destinies.
That does mean, however, that Call to the Kindred does not trigger Door of Destinies, but it still gives me a free Human with every turn.
Champion of Lambholt - lots of creatures coming in to play, and it's a human.
Civilized Scholar
- Automatic card draw, and flips for a nasty 5/1. Great to be pumped with Door of Destinies, one of our bashers
Invisible Stalker - Hexproof, easily pumped by everything else, can be quite the danger
Deranged Outcast
- puts counters on primary attackers Civilized Scholar
, Invisible Stalker. Can also put them on Fathom Mage for card draw.
Fathom Mage- works well with
Deranged Outcast
and Vorel of the Hull Clade
Mayor of Avabruck
- pumps all the humans, key to any human deck
Hamlet Captain
- pseudo pump, practically the same as the Mayor
Vorel of the Hull Clade - doubles the counters on Door of Destinies and Fathom Mage for card draw
Elder of Laurels
- We will have plenty of creatures on the battlefield, so his ability is very relevant.
ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED!! Thank you for looking at my deck!
