I must immediately purchase some eggs for I need to have breakfast and without the eggs I cannot have the breakfast that I so require - Mojo Jojo
I tried to theory craft Atla Palani, Nest Tender once, but like Mojo I found that I needed two-for-one eggs. I added a secondary shapeshifter chain, Birthing Pod , Natural Order and the like. I got the two-for-one eggs I was looking for, but every breakfast thereafter tasted exactly the same.
Curses!
For a nutritious eggs primer fun is the minimum requirement. Upvote for not stopping one shy of the fun that you need.
For you, and forever, Azi

Azielle kind of you to reciprocate the upvote!
Atla has a penchant for cooking her eggs the same way every time, but some among us don't mind. I am, sine any judgement, not one of those people.
I remain staunch in my opinion that having fun is pretty cool, and it's great to be reminded that I'm not alone in that. Thank you.
Eternally indebted, Omni

I love this! Your budget version is good too, and the update, "I think I just broke this deck" made me laugh. Very nice deck you have here. We need 35 more upvotes to go. Keep em coming guys!

Omniscience_is_life You are very welcome. All of your decks are awesome! Keep on building!

So, as far as a direct upgrade with current tech, I'd suggest you replace Summoner's Egg with Maskwood Nexus , which both makes all your creatures into Eggs, and taps to make more eggs.

sabisia hello! Nexus has been recommended many times, but I fear it's a little too slow in the egg production, and I'd rather not sac one of my creatures at a shot for a better one--especially when I could get a worse one! It only works against a boardwipe, but that's too narrow IMO. Thanks for the comment!

Wow, this has got to be the most comprehensive primer I've read here. It alone is worth the up vote. Then you have this incredible deck! Thanks for spending all the time explaining each and every detail. It sounds like you have an expert's understanding of all the goings-on. I think this would be a really fun deck to throw together. I'll definitely consider it now that I'm getting back into MTG again after an extended hiatus. Thanks for the inspiration!

TheLordOfTime You have no idea how much your comment means to me! Between the deck and the primer, this project took about a year; I no longer put much attention towards it, but I intend to do a massive update/upgrade when I'm next inspired to sink more capital into this game. Hopefully that inspiration comes soon ;)
Many thanks again!

Some cuts/adds I'm pondering at the moment, getting back into this deck:
-
My whole recursion package needs to go. Emeria Shepherd doesn't have enough Plains to function properly, and the days of the Zacama, Primal Calamity combo are long since past. Once and Future is overcosted and replaceable... with the lovely Noxious Revival. This is probably the most direct upgrade, all the other cards I'm cutting (e.g. Shepherd) don't have straight-across replacements.
-
Nyxbloom Ancient may well be cut if I decide a card like Protean Hulk, Treeshaker Chimera, Voice of Many, or Combustible Gearhulk is better. The Ancient is just a generic value piece, and I'm trying to cut down as much on those as I can. It does, however, allow for some of the crazy-long turns that I take to work, so I'm really unsure if it's gonna go or not.
-
Brainstone, Kavu Lair, and Flawless Maneuver are all looking really spicy right now. Unsure as to what cuts would allow them to come in.
-
Greater Gargadon might come out for Towering Titan, as cracking into a vanilla 9/7 is a bit underwhelming. The Gargadon is great at being an uninteractable sac outlet, but I do like the trample grant on Towering Titan. Again, unsure.

Here's what I'm currently thinking the plan'll be:
Once and Future will be cut for Noxious Revival
Emeria Shepherd will be cut for Flawless Maneuver
Nyxbloom Ancient will be cut for Protean Hulk
Return of the Wildspeaker will be cut for Brainstone
Sneak Attack will be cut for Combustible Gearhulk
Austere Command will be cut for Winds of Abandon
Should anyone find themselves in a state of astonished disagreement, please feel free to air your grievances in the comment section down below ;)

I love that you felt the need to realize a good omelette needs variety :) otherwise you are just eating monoculture hard-boiled every time. I too love my Atla deck, just pure Atla dmg, dmg doublers, & big red stuff that would never stick in another deck :) There is something about RURIC THAR!!!! with damage doublers or Fiery Emancipation. Anyway, I like this too! What I've surprised alot of people with in the past was Volcanic Fallout hard to say how many infinite 1/1's I've stopped or used that spell at instant speed when my opponents thought I had no way of actually cooking my eggs (no apparent sac-outlet)

Gleeock I'm grateful for your support! Love to hear how others approach Atla.
In this build, I'm pretty content to lose to infinite hasty 1/1's. If they are too slow, after all, they'll be lost to the winds... and I can respect losing occasionally to the sort with the sort of alacrity that doesn't wait for my turn.
I don't like 1-off sac outlets in general; our engine is pretty reliant on being able to toss multiple eggs over several turns, and 3 mana is a lot for an egg-scrambler anyway. At that CMC, I'd rather be playing Ashnod's Altar ;)
The whole bit about surprise Atla triggers is an interesting one, but I think I'd rather have the surprise come from what I cheat into play, not when.
Thanks for commenting! Again, it means a lot. I'll be sure to take a look at your build, sounds different enough from mine that I'm sure I'll get some inspiration!

Well, I ran out of time to add the custom categories. I also have a ton of 2-drop ramp, I like redirects so there are some of those. Then a bunch of direct damage creatures, & more control than I typically play in other decks. A few of my sac outlets: Martyr's Cause are worth looking at. Here -->Atla with Tobasco Sauce

Creative Technique has overperformed for me every time I play it. It is a nice contingency plan in the event of Atla-hate as well.

Gleeock feels a bit bad to hit an Arcane Signet though, no? Especially if your opponent gets a threat off Demonstrate? For a similar amount of mana I could run Selvala's Stampede and get far more value... but I should probably come up with some more alternative lines should Atla get removed a bunch, so thanks for bringing that to my attention!
February 26, 2022 12:05 a.m.
Yeah, while I was posting that I was thinking of how I need to add Selvala's Stampede back into my deck, I don't really know why I ever took it out (maybe because I added a buttload of mass removal instead?) not really sure. It is one of the best cards around to keep in-hand for inevitable Cyclonic Rifts. My other rift insurance is usually just having Ruric Thar, the Unbowed & dmg multipliers on-field, with which I've hilariously killed players before it resolves.
As far as Creative Technique goes, it is nice that it doesn't depend on hand-size, although I often have a fatty or 2 stuck in-hand that I don't really want to hardcast. Since Creative Technique gives me 2 shots & I get to choose my opponent, I usually just choose an opponent with a strategy-set that has a very low likelihood of resulting in high-end threats (I can always find a value-engine or aristrocrats deck to pick on :) ), while I know this deck has BIG ones, so I've yet to actually witness the scenario where I only see a couple of 2-ramps & my opponent sees a Tergrid, God of Fright Flip

Oh my god, my friend has this deck and he would beat the **** out of me with it EVERY TIME!
I don't remember much about his deck but I do know that he included most of the Eldrazi Titans, as well as Jeweled Lotus.
Also, I can't imagine how long it took to describe EVERY SINGLE CARD IN THE ENTIRE DECK.

I, personally, think that Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus is a good addition because it makes a horrible situation for your opponents even worse. Another good addition might be Invasion of Ikoria because of the way that Zilortha can just let you deal combat damage instead of the boring process of blocking. I love Atla eggs so much because you can do so many fun things to your opponents with these things for almost free.

davidsays1 I dismissed Mirror Entity a while ago when I decided I wanted primarily multi-function creatures, but perhaps I should reconsider! Ideally my creatures won't be dying in the first place, but things happen. I'll do some playtesting.
Thanks for the comment!
