@FireyPoops

You can't cast Bolt Bend if you have Godo in play, since he's only 3 mana.

If Godo ends up carrying the hammer in some lines, maybe, but it seems like a bad card to be playing in general because the conditions are hard to meet. My 0.02

@FieryPoops Bolt bend is unfortunate. It doesn't really have a place in this deck as paying 4 mana isn't an option. Consider Veilstone Amulet instead if having trouble with removal on Godo.

@ Seeker , Endbringer is more of a thing in casual/high power godo, where you can equip it up with Basilisk Collar for some insane shenanigans, it doesn't really have a place in this deck as it isn't efficient enough. Indestructible creatures aren't really an issue. It has happened once to me in a game that I ended up in a 1v1 against an 8/8 indestructible; I just blew up his lands every turn with Argentum and eventually drew magnetic theft and put my Helm on his 8/8 so that my army of Indestructibles got bigger than his. In any case, you don't really see indestructible in cEDH.

Currently testing: God-Pharaoh's Statue , Umezawa's Jitte .

Jitte tested ok. If most of your opponents are using creature based combos or wincons, it might well be worth it. 4 counters a trun is quite strong with how small most creatures are in cEDH.

Still testing the God-Pharaoh's Statue, and also looking at testing Frenzied Fugue , and Conqueror's Flail , the first of which gives us some nice options against 1 sided stax effects, and the Flail is a lot better now than when previously tested, due to the higher density of creatures in the deck.

Have you thought about adding Irencrag Feat ?

November 26, 2019 4:52 a.m.

@yax Yes, I've tested it quite a bit. Probably good for budget lists, but it just sort of falls flat in this deck. In some ways it is similar to LED (in the sense that it locks you out of casting anything except godo afterwards), but without a lot of the nice synergies that LED has with the deck, such as recuring it in response to Welder, Daretti, or Engineer. Or cracking it in response to Recruiter, or matron for Ogre or Dockside respectively. It also has the not-insignificant requirement of RRR mana, which really only comes later in the game a lot of the time. Overall it was an OK late game topdeck, but even then it could be bad if you were waiting on a bit more mana to get you to being able to combo via Twinflame or Magnetic Theft (in which case it is useless).

Why no walkers that ramps like Chandra, for example?

@Xikitins I'm not OP, but I've been working on a budget Godo list of my own. The reason Chandra wouldn't work imo is because of the low creature count this deck runs. 12 creatures in this list. 15 in my budget list. Unless the walker's ability can get immediate value, such as Daretti, Scrap Savant bringing back Helm, the walker will normally be taken out pretty quickly by any random creature on the field.

CodyMTG Xikitins Chandra (assuming we're talking about Chandra, Torch of Defiance) isn't all that great since she's 4 mana to ramp 2 more. There are better options that are either 4-for-3, or 4-for-2 that do other things. Her other plus, the pseudo-draw, can hit Helm of the Host which would royally screw the game plan.

What do you think about Treasure Nabber? In addition to ramp, it gives targets for Goblin Welder or Daretti, Scrap Savant to sacrifice. It can also be grabbed with Goblin Matron.

I also still feel like you should continue to consider Chandra, Torch of Defiance. It does so much work. I basically never use the card draw, but find the ramp and removal quite effective, and find that it tends to eat removal because players are overly scared of it.

Also, with the increase in goblins, have you considered Skirk Prospector?

February 7, 2020 11:25 p.m.

Hi, was something recently removed to fit Strangle Hold in?

February 10, 2020 7:54 p.m.

@chickenshimmer, yes, check the changelog. We decided on codex shredder in the end (for now anyway).

@SentinelSix Yes, we've considered Skirk Prospector but as a slow ritual it isn't really that effective at ramp (at least for the card disadvantage). Ultimately we have better options, even if it is a decent budget card. Treasure nabber was tested for a while but it always seems to do less than you want it to. Opponent chooses is tough. Chandra is occationally played by people on the discord, though I think it is a bit too expensive for what it does (the double red cost also gets in the way fairly often, especially if you are trying to ramp it out early). It also sucks to have ramp that people can swing at and kill.

Thoughts on Underworld Breach from Theros and Molten Echoes from upcoming Ikoria release as additions?

April 8, 2020 2:39 a.m.

What are your thoughts on running Robber of the Rich in this deck? Maybe to replace Dire Fleet Daredevil?

April 22, 2020 9:41 a.m.

kmcnama3 says... #16

defendingfaithx, I don't think those two are mutually exclusive. While Robber of the Rich can get you good cards, they are essentially just random unless you can swing in after an opponent just tutored something off of the top of their library.

Dire Fleet Daredevil gives you choice selection from opponents graveyards, which in this meta should give you access to tutors, cantrips, and other value that you can select.

While this whole deck has a fast roll the dice vibe, I think Robber of the Rich is just a wild gamble.

Granted I've only been piloting this deck for 4 months. Still I would be hesitant to make that change.

kmcnama3 I understand. thank you!

Been spamming this list in Untap. Genuinely feels like the absolute best the deck can be, no card feels weak/out of place.

JankimusPrime me too!

I've been meaning to rebuild my own monored edh deck for a while and I'm loving this. I know I'll be tweaking a bit for my own meta but I was wondering if you had tested Extraplanar Lens and snow covered lands?

Can anyone list the opening cards needed for the turn 1 Krark-Clan Ironworks win? Or a turn 1 win in general?

May 18, 2020 5:10 a.m.

Feedlord117 says... #22

Nice godo list i have a neheb dreadhorde and kiki jiki list I play in cedh. I really like your primer and plan on making a godo list too.

May 18, 2020 11:15 a.m.

JankimusPrime a t1 win would have mountain, mana crypt, ritual of flame, treasonous ogre, then protection like red elemental blast, hydrolast, and deflecting swat

May 23, 2020 1:45 a.m.

JankimusPrime says... #24

defendingfaithx what about one that involves Krark-Clan ironworks? It's mentioned in the primer that it's possible.

May 23, 2020 9:52 a.m.

JankimusPrime I’m assuming Great Furnace > Rite of Flame > Mana Crypt > Lotus Petal Krark > sac Furnace + Crypt, sac Petal for Red then cast Treasonous Ogre and go with the line I mentioned above. Janky, but it works.
