Maybe cut some End Hostilities for Crux of Fate?

Tough call. Dragons are still pretty common to see but they're normally paired with non-dragon creatures. Crux forces me to hit one or the other, but Crux can also spare my own Kolaghan. However End just, well, ends it all. In my previous walker build I've had to let go of a few Brimaz/Stormbreath to wipe the field as shit as it feels to do so.

This is a preference call - either work. They both have ups and downs, you can run both, but I think for me I'm going to stick with 4x End. I will wiggle a Crux or 2 into the side, though.

Actually, I forgot I wanted 2x Stasis Snare in the side for Hangarback Walker and other "when ~ dies" cards. So Crux is still up in the air.

From experience, that many planeswalkers can be costly, maybe try cutting down to 2,1,1,1

After playing around in MTGO I've discovered that Mardu Blue might not be a bad option (I'm getting wrecked by 4c decks consistently) for things like Clash of Wills and Jace, so my walker suite might get toned down a bit just to squeeze in another color.

If I do keep it Mardu and lower the amount of walkers, what would I replace them with? Any other value creatures I could toss in here? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

blashemer so basically like jeskai black except more mardu leaning

Essentially. I don't exactly want to go Mardu Blue/Jeskai Black (absolutely can't afford Jace) but if it gives it the edge it needs, yeah.

I feel like painful truths is better than read the bones on the overall power level of the deck. if you're willing to play four radiant flames main and expect to get three colors out of this mana base there's no real reason for read except for better card selection that should really matter according to the individual answers you have main.

Suppose it wouldn't hurt to try it out, however the scry 2 just seems more favorable to have in a control deck.

Kinda bad to say this, but Gideon? Right now he is just usurping the format as he can establish board presence, give you an emblem, and become a threat as a 5/5. If did do that, giving your deck more white offers option to instil Silkwrap and Suspension Field. Complete Disregard is a strong option too as a spot removal against hangerback and the occasion rally/graveyard deck.

Also of dragons are your battle plan too, old school Kolaghan is worth noting too as a slot. Foul-Tongue Invocation also is a card at least adding into the side.

I was thinking that, ran in my deck that got me to top 8 at gameday. Ultimate him the turn after he comes in. Turns him into a 6/6 that can create tokens and buffs the rest. Original Kolaghan buffs dragons and is protected by Thunderbreak

I'm going to try out the Old Kolaghan main/Silkwrap in the side. I really didn't like Gideon in this deck originally so I removed him, but I may put a copy or 2 back in after some more playtesting. Now that he has more creatures to work with/support than the deck originally had, he should be a welcome inclusion.

Thanks for the suggestions. :)

i saw you say that you dont know what value creatures would go in here instead, even though you have Silkwrap to deal with the most value creature in standard. the answers there, you already have it

Doomerrant says... #14

So by that do you believe it'd be better to have Silkwrap main over Quarantine?

Blashemer, unless the current build is able to defend against aggro efficient before turn 3 or 4, than you might not. However, testplaying against Atarka Red, G/W Megamorph, and Abzan aggro should let you decide if it's right choice. Personally, a 4x would work great spot removal for most these decks.

you need some early plays........right now the deck does basically nothing until t4. adding a couple of removal spells+hand disruption should help immensely

Doomerrant says... #17

Unless you have good, solid suggestions for early plays it'll probably stay as it is.

with that number of mana i'd rather use Read the Bones than Painful Truths. How about Transgress the Mind

October 26, 2015 11:32 a.m.

Doomerrant says... #19

Fair point. I'll test them both over time. Painful has been very good to me, though.

Transgress is in the SB.

i would drop 1 Crux of Fate for a 4th Radiant Flames, as well as change the 3 duress to a 1-2 Duress/Despise split. the first will allow you to stabilize fairly easily, while the second will hit more relevant targets than duress will (usually. control you would want duress for but thats only 1 matchup). the biggest thing i would do though is add Draconic Roar because it both doubles as removal, but it will get in for a not-trivial amount of damage when you have a dragon in hand (that should be most of the time, given that you have 7 maindeck).

So i was thinking jumping to Mardu control and i wanna see whats going on in the near FNM pubs with this deck,so yeah like i said PLEASE POST FNM RESULTS.

Doomerrant says... #23

Sorry @negativeoxide, but I can't honestly afford this irl. I have it on MTGO from selling older cards and have played it on their extensively.

Thus far, as far as MTGO goes, my toughest matchups have been Great Aurora + Demonic Pact, Ugin/Eldrazi ramp, and mirror. Everything else I have felt confident playing against. The power is there but I won't lie that it would probably be better as Mardu Blue/Jeskai Black. Jace, Dispel, Clash of Wills, Ojutai's Command, Dig, Cruise, etc, would all help this to soar above. I chose not to go 4c simply because Jace is the main reason to do so and he's far too expensive for myself.

If for whatever reason I acquire enough money to buy this I'll take it to FNM - It'll be the first one I've ever gone to as well.

@negativeoxide I have played a Mardu Control in last gameday. I posted it all about it Outcast Mardu control . It's not exactly the deck I've played but is almost near to it. Just realised afterwards that I did not need some cards and needed others, so I changed the deck. I'm testing it and with better results in mana achivement. It's not like this deck at all. But kind of the same spirit.Sorry to post it here @Blashemer.
