FNM Update: Had a very good level of success for its first tournament. Not marvelous, but good. Won 2 matches, lost 1, and drew twice.
First draw was against G/B Ramp/Landfall/Genesis Wave/Ob Nixilis. Very good deck, but the first game I was able to hold him down by Mana Leaking his most crucial spells. Even then, it was very close and I came out by the skin of my teeth. He would have won with Ob, but he ran out of basic land in his deck to fetch for. The second game I had to deal with Summoning Traps and didn't quite have the control to stop a small army of beast tokens after an 18-mana Genesis Wave. Third game I Sadistic Sacramented his Summoning Traps and we timed out after I could have probably walked through for a kill in one more turn. Changes made: Added Negates and Dispels to sideboard as additional counters against Traps and anything with strong non-creature win conditions.
Second draw was against U/W control. His deck only had 2 Mindsculpters, 2 Vensers, 1 or 2 Elspeths, and 2 Gideons, which made Sadistic Sacrament my best friend. Frost Titans did a great job of keeping me open to slip damage through and thwarted his sideboarded Devout Lightcasters and Celestial Purges. However, game 3 he got out an Elspeth that could make enough fodder blockers to virtually turn the game around just in time for us to time out. Changes made: Added Vampire Hexmage to the sideboard as anti-planeswalker and Negates for fighting control decks.
My loss was against Mono-green aggro. Still not sure how to edit to fight this one. Had some trouble because he out-creatured me constantly and had a few things that gave me trouble. Because Mana Leak was my only counter, fighting ramp was difficult. I could rarely counter his Overwhelming Stampede, and when I could counter powerful spells, he usually had a backup. Terra Stomper scared me because I couldn't counter it, and Gaea's Revenge was even worse. Changes made: Uhhhh... ideas would be appreciated.
All-in-all, a good first try. I did have the joy of using Thada to steal someone's one-of Steel Hellkite, and of dropping someone into negative with Wrexial and using him to take their Unsummon to bounce their Platinum Angel for the win. I got complimented on my deck twice and was told by one person that they might have to steal my deck idea. I felt proud, and have hopes for this deck.
