Walls are creatures types too

Commander / EDH GWU (Bant)

Ovidius

Sideboard

Walls have long been my favorite creature type. Why, you might ask. Why not? Being able to play an Italian copy of Wall of Ice lets you say, "I summon, Italian Ice!" Or what about cards such as Wall of Vapor or Fog Bank that soak up damage as it if never even happened. It's things like this that make walls fun to play. They're relatively inexpensive to purchase and have long been a part of MtG. If you look at Alpha, ten of the ninety-two creature cards are walls. That's roughly eleven percent of the set's creature base.

But enough about me, you're here because I have a deck that screams Wall Tribal. Wizards releasing, Arcades, the Strategist finally gave Walls a home in EDH. Not only did they allow you to draw cards now, but they could also attack. Recall Wall of Ice from earlier. Traditionally it is a three-drop 0/7 with defender. But, with Arcades on the field, it functionally becomes a 7/7.

With Arcades, all of those walls you've had sitting in your collection for years can be put to good use. With the right card draw, you can deal lots of damage by turn four and have your opponents already on the ropes. Is an opponent giving you issues with their large board state? No problem! Simple play a card like Expel the Interlopers, choose 1, and watch as all creatures except for the majority of you walls are wiped away. As most walls have zero power, it's a clever way to wipe the board without harming yourself in the process.
