Currently learning how to play this list. Love it! Thanks for all the work that has obviously gone into it so far! Not sure how correct it is, but I swapped mirris guile for Concordant crossroads. Post drawing the deck, and inf mana, gives everything haste for big craterhoof swings. May just be a win more. Still testing it but seems good so far and I wasnt impressed with guile. Not enough shuffle effects imho to make it very useful and it usually plays like a ponder. Any pointers are welcome. I did manage to find a good primer on reddit. Does this deck have a discord? Thanks again.

If you have drawn your deck and have infinite mana something else to do is use Temur Sabertooth to blink Hoof out and cast him again.

Scratched crossroads. Bad idea. Worked for say activating acolyte turn its cast with inf combos but a bad top deck pretty much any other time.

How is your artifact control package really working? You have vary little card draw and no tutor's to get them consistently and with it being artifact when u do get a peace does it stick around long enough to matter cause there is all sorts of artifact hate in the format? If your still for the artifact side control plan you need card draw way more then what you have in the deck. Like the idea and deck im just trying to understand the logic of the artifacts you have in it besides ramp if you can't draw it consistently enough to matter

Hey jester27,

In MT:G we use "hypergeometric calculation" to figure out our probability of drawing certain cards, or in this case types of cards. I was too lazy to work it out by hand so I used an online calculator.

The cards we are concerned with are: Null Rod, Sphere of Resistance, Tangle Wire, Thorn of Amethyst, Trinisphere, Winter Orb, and Root Maze. I left out Manglehorn as a stax piece because Yissan the wanderer bard is our commander and can fetch him on verse 3. So 7 stax pieces, with no easy ways to tutor for them in a 99 card deck. What's the chance that we draw any one of them naturally in a 7 card hand?

The calculator says 33.53%. I'm not great at math, but I'll make a few assumptions. You will draw one of the 7 stax pieces in your opening hand in a third of your games. In commander we get to mulligan once for free, so the odds are even better. And with successive mulligans, as is suggested when playing cEDH, digging for a stax piece makes your chance of success even higher. You can use the calculator to figure out your chance of success on successive turns, in case you don't get what you need in an opening hand.

In my opinion, this totally justifies the inclusion of 7 stax pieces in the deck in a competitive environment!

I wanted to try a cEDH since my meta grew out of control and my casual decks can't manage to win even 1/10 of the games.

Since I don't mind going infinite and I like my deck to be toolbox-ish. Yisan seemed like a good one to start with, having the majority of the expensive cardboard pieces.

What do you think of Wirewood Lodge? Do you think it could be something to add?

I Think it could be great with Priest of Titania.

I have everything but the cradle. Should i go down to 33 lands and play growing rites of itlimoc?

ShaperSavant says... #9

Littlepoot No, just play another Forest. Can swap Crop Rotation and Sylvan Scrying for other cards too.

Does Gaea's Cradle really increase the effectiveness of the deck that much? I've found that the point where I need mana the most is when casting Yisan. I usually have enough mana to play a double 4th verse the turn after verse 2 as it is and Cradle just seems worse than a forest on turn 1 and 2.

Is Cradle really as beneficial to the deck as some would make it seem and if so, when would you usually play it?

Thanks for the responce. I put in another snow forest for the cradle. Im thinking of replacing crop rotation with noxious revival, not sure about sylvan scrying.

vennamuel - The card is amazing to have but it is not necessary and it's current price is just plain ridiculous. It's hard to argue in good faith that it should be in the deck when you can also buy an xbox one and a PS4 with change left over for one copy of the card.

That being said, the card is plain busted and unless you've been recently boardwiped, you're going to be generating hilarious amounts of mana for tapping one land. If you really enjoy the effect, grab Growing Rites of Itlimoc. You will be able to flip it in no time and do the exact same thing one turn slower.

Im looking to build this list but have a couple questions about card choices. Why is umbra mantle good? It untaps Yisan and goes infinite with a couple cards, but it seems bad overall. What about Duplicant and Survival of the Fittest. Also, one card I thought would go in here is Glimpse of Nature.

Thank you more experienced pilots of this deck.

ShaperSavant says... #15

nungnum Umbral Mantle wins the game via inf mana/power/untaps with a dork that taps for 4 or more. These give really great backup plans if we can't Yisan for whatever reason. Duplicant is pretty much our only creature-tutorable out to Elesh Norn and helps with Linvala as well. Survival is a great backup engine to get what you need when Yisan is offline. Glimpse isn't included because it's only when you cast the creatures, where most of the time you're spending mana to pull them out with Yisan.

Why no Yavimaya Hollow here? It seems like it would be an auto include. I’m trying to foil your list but sadly some cards aren’t possible to do so.

How has Runic Armasaur been doing for you ShaperSavant? Is it that good?

July 20, 2018 10:46 a.m.

ShaperSavant says... #19

thegigibeast I've only gotten to use it once so far, but it drew me ~5 cards until someone tried to Kiki-Jiki underneath it, drew me ~35, let me stop it and I won the game shortly after.

Still testing. I think it'll likely stay.

How have you won at that moment ShaperSavant? Was it an instant speed win?

Just saw a new card that could totally be playable in here! Stopping Hulk on verse 3?!?

The only question being... If I play a list exactly like your, what should we replace? I have thought about replacing Scavenging Ooze, but should we need to keep both in the deck?

Have you tried running Selvala, Heart of the Wilds and Great Oak Guardian? They have both proven to be invaluable in my Yisan deck.

Wow, two Ravenous Slimes?! Sick!

Real note, @Solomox, he had Great Oak Guardian in there at one point for combo untap stuff.
