MisterTweetums I believe you can loop it with Eternal Witness, Sakura Tribe Scout, Temur Sabertooth, infinite mana, and infinite untaps to clear all your opponents' creatures. It's another option in addition to Stag and Beast From Within for clearing a bunch of creatures. You can use it in tandem with Beast From Within to make all your opponents' creatures 3/3 tokens and then deal 4 dmg to all of them.

Mouth of Ronom is a removal that can be found via Crop Rotation or Sylvan Scrying (and Expedition Map), giving those tutors more versatility (especially relevant to combat Linvala and similar creatures that shut off Yisan), and playing a handful of colorless lands is basically free. It's not just a useless removal spell stuck in your hand when all you want to do is end the game quickly, but taps for mana.

Has anyone considered Panglacial Wurm? Seems like a nice "gotcha" to add when going for Craterhoof Behemoth or any other piece really. Its very easy to cast considering how many mana outlets we run.

I feel like the wurm is win more. why not put in more interaction instead of a 9/5 that draws more attention.
On a side note is everyone playing lightning greaves?

Hello, I have a couple questions. Long time player of Green here. I super respect the work you have put into this, I am guessing you have gone over all these options in the past, but thought I would throw a few out here to see what you say. At the very least I (plus others reading this) can learn a bit more about how to pilot this deck.
How come with the mana dorks and rocks you are not running Paradox Engine? I see untap effects in here like Umbral Mantle already. Is it just cause it doesn't untap when you activate the commander's ability? or maybe the mana cost is too high at five? I feel this card is strongest in green decks like this. especially if it means you can untap your commander with every spell cast.
I would second and highly suggest Glimpse of Nature as well. If you somehow manage to resolve it it is a very strong green card, and you are currently running 33 creatures (counting the commander because that is a trigger for it as well that you should always have access to) It is better then Regal Force for building up to a win, since regal requires an already established board. Granted the both are great cards, but they do slightly different things as far as when you want to cast them. and with the creature bounce effects you have it could be a really reliable way to get ahead.
I get that a mono green deck's best plan is to stax our opponents and try to out race everyone. but how do you deal with counter magic? Have you tried cards like Autumn's Veil? I have heard that other cEDH decks that don't have access to blue often run it. and certainly if they are trying to do some combo type stuff and win the game on one turn.
Anyhow Thanks for your time. looking forward to hearing more about the deck and how it works.

I'm not this decks creator but I've piloted a similar cede his an build for years and can answer your questions. The first two questions can be answered by the same explanation... This deck almost solely revolves around the commanders ability to find and put creatures into play directly. The combos, some disruption, and utility. The deck doesn't really want to cast any spells after turn 2 that aren't prison pieces because mana is used by yisan (and a double activation is very mana intensive). When so much priority is placed on yisa's ability (and not casting spells), paradox engine and glimpse aren't that great.
For the third question, Autumn's veil is interesting but this decks goal is a turn 2 yisan (with acceleration) that can slip under counters and once in play its ability can't be countered traditionally. Other counter decks will also prioritize countering stay parts over yisan due to yisans comparatively slow speed (summoning sickness and building verse counters). The part of veil that probably strongest is the black or blue removal piece.
Does that help?

Auto correct butchered the last post but the first sentence should say I've piloted a version similar to there's. And the the last paragraph is suppose to say counter decks will prioritize countering stax pieces.

What kinda cards could i swap out for the more expensive cards in this deck? I'm not against spending a lot but if there are cheaper, maybe not as good versions of say, gaea's cradle, mox diamond, and mana crypt?

Why isn’t Sylvan Tutor in this deck? You have Worldly Tutor which is basically the same thing. So I don’t see a reason not to include it.

There aren't a lot of ways to draw it immediately, which makes for a very telegraphed play, and if you activate Yisan over the pass you shuffle it away. Worldly can be cast endstep or upkeep to avoid those problems.

I see what you mean about Sylvan Tutor but doesn’t that make a strong argument for Summoner's Pact since it tutors straight to your hand. Or is the upkeep cost to high since we want mana to activate Yisan?

Upkeep cost is very high, I don't think it's worth it to cast for most of the game.

ORNAMENT Lightning Greaves is incredibly bad with all the "Untap target creature" effects used to abuse Yisan

Reveur Doesn't it only add a colorless or a green in this deck? You don't get extra mana. Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

Ah nevermind I didn't see the part about it starting in play!

First off, I love the deck. Great job with the deck, budget primer and on the work you put in the collaborative primer.
I’m looking maybe to make a Yisan deck and all 3 of these resources were of huge help to me. However, I still have some questions.
Here are the cards I’d remove compared to your list and the reasons for their exclusion (disregarding few manabase changes along the same lines);
Survival of the Fittest , Mox Diamond , Gaea's Cradle , Azusa, Lost but Seeking , Mirri's Guile - budget restrictions. For different reasons, I won’t be getting these in the foreseeable future.
Crop Rotation , Sylvan Scrying - without Cradle in, I don’t see these 2 holding up well
Ravenous Slime - my meta isn’t big on graveyards, so I could see myself wanting better verse 3 options
My meta is mostly creature-based with lots of MAN/Blood pod/Tymna decks around. Blue is less prevalent than it is in other competitive metas, and green is the most represented color. There is quite a bit of stax (although I have yet to see a Linvala) and, as I’ve mentioned already, graveyards aren’t widely used here. Non-competitive crowd favors creatures and combat. I don’t expect to play with them a lot, but if we’re paired at a tournament, I’d like Yisan to steamroll them.
Here are my ideas;
-
Tendershoot Dryad - my meta is quite keen on combat, and I’d like to be conpetitive in that regard. A decent verse 5
-
Hornet Queen - pretty much the same as Dryad, but at verse 7 and it stops occasional Zur or Kraum
-
Wayward Swordtooth - a bad Azusa, but a ramp effect nevertheless. Could be useful because of its 5/5 body that can save me some life while enticing Tymna players to soften up the rest of the table for my Hoof
-
Tireless Tracker - because our games can get grindy, having a good draw engine and a beatstick in one sounds good.
-
Skyshroud Ranger - makes up for lost t2 Yisan capcity lost by excluding Diamond and it’s an elf. Nothing to write home about, but seems decent
-
Mana Vault - t2 Yisan enabler
-
Elvish Archdruid and Marwyn, the Nurturer - big elf mana. I’m not very excited about these, but they might be good Azusa replacements
-
Oracle of Mul Daya - if I had one, I’d probably just play it in place of Azusa. But I traded mine away long time ago. Its current price and likelihood of being reprinted make it an uneasy buy for me. But if you think it’s worth the buck in here compared to other options, I can bite the bullet.
-
Ulvenwald Tracker - Tymna eliminator and generally a repeatable creature removal in a relatively creature-heavy meta
-
Quest for Renewal - seems to me like an extra copy of Muse that’s lest susceptible to removal.
-
Autumn's Veil - not as relevant as it would be in some other metas, but it could be a good piece of combo protection
-
Noxious Revival - grave recursion plus grave hate if I need it. Its instant speed, low cost and versatility make it look good in my eyes even if this deck can’t really abuse it like some other decks can.
-
Return to Nature - a new goodie from WAR. A strictly better Naturalize that can not only remove an opposing stax piece, but can double as grave hate in a pinch. As with Revival, grave hate isn’t the selling point, but a part of a package deal that even without it should be a decent option.
-
Natural State - a cheap way to remove opposing stax. It hits los of relevant stuff, since I don’t see much Chain veils, PEngines and whatnot around (excet when I’m the perpetrator...)
-
Lightning Greaves - protection and haste enabling together make for a tempting offer
I’d appreciate it greatly if you could comment on these and suggest which of these to add. If you have any other additions below 20$, I’m all ears.
Thank you in advance!

Hi! Thoughts on Finale of Devastation ? 12 mana (not terribly hard to get but still somewhat of a climb) to get craterhoof and give everything +10/+10 and +x/+x. Also allows direct access to creatures in graveyard.

JohnnyCRO I think you're thinking about the deck in the right way and those cuts are reasonable. Of the cards you mentioned from replacements, I am fond of most of them, except Swordtooth (Azusa is already the closest card to the chopping block), and to a lesser extent Tendershoot (it's a good plan D if you can't get Yisan to stick but we really have better things to be doing).
In choosing your slots, prioritize t2 Yisan consistency and try to think what is most necessary in your meta and choose the tech that best gives you density in what you're trying to accomplish.

Thank you for getting back to me!
I’m also glad to hear that my outlook on the deck seems reasonable to you. I’m just starting out with Yisan and I’m glad ro be on the right track.
Then I’m removing Swordtooth and replacing Azusa from my list of priorities, you’ve been a huge help on that front.
I’m gonna fill the remaining slots according to your advice. When I’m “finished” or if I happen to have any additional questions, I’m gonna hit you up on Yisan discord (DrAlistairGrout there), I hope that’s OK with you.
Again, thank you for your help!
