Is there a reason not to play Hall of the Bandit Lord ? Seems like another really good Crop Rotation target especially with things like Priest of Titania and makes a turn three yisan the same as a turn two summoning sick yisan. Rereading the card it could be the "comes in tapped" clause but is that a strong enough tempo loss that the card isnt worth it anymore?

Yisan with haste but no mana left to use it isn't worth a lot. So no, Hall of the Bandit Lord is not an alternative to turn 2 Yisan. It has some utility if the game goes longer, but there is limited space for non-Forest lands, and you generally want all your lands to enter untapped.

what do you think about vivien's arkbow? I am on a budget, so no chord of calling, mul daya and sylvan library for now and I've found one copy in one of my draft packs. I think it gives you card selection and a free small drop for the cost of a single card, and when you are seeing lands only discarding one for a body is good.

(sorry for my english, not my first language)

Arcbow doesn't reliably find you what you need, and requires a lot of mana, which you'd rather invest into Yisan himself. Even if your budget is small, there are plenty of better options in my opinion. Take a look at the primer linked in the deck description.

Will you be running the recently spoiled Collector Ouphe, and, if so, What will he replace?

Crimson_Jimi says... #7

I will be running Collector Ouphe . I am considering taking out Runic Armasaur or Somberwald Stag . Both have been quite lackluster for me.

Trying to find a good back up 5 CMC creature for Seedborn Muse. Somberwald Stag is solid but looking for something stronger, Could God-Eternal Rhonas work? 5/5 with deathtouch and gives all other creatures double power and vigilance, furthers my main objective on how to end game, combos with Temur Sabertooth for reuse. Or would Acidic Slime just be fine for more Artifact hate

Acidic Slime is reasonable, maybe Stingerfling Spider ? Other than that CMC 5 is really kinda dry in mono-green

BluExorcist says... #10

thanks, I'll test it out, maybe Rhonas would be better in a token deck but giving vigilance also means even my mana dorks can all attack and still be tapped for mana

I'm sorry if im missing the point, but is there a specific reason for the snow covered forests? Or can I just use regular forests?

July 27, 2019 11:44 p.m.

Inkmoth says... #12

JxRxIxVx: Literally, Mouth of Ronom . Green struggles to remove creatures and using up a land slot for Ronom as an alternative to take care of the format's problematic creatures is a small price to pay for a very powerful piece of removal.

Emzed says... #13

Mouth of Ronom isn't played because it's powerful, but because there is a very low opportunity cost to running it (slots in for a basic land) and it can be tutored for (Sylvan Scrying, Crop Rotation, Expedition Map). This gives your land tutors more utility and provides you more outs to problematic creatures like Linvala, Keeper of Silence or Phyrexian Revoker . In comparison, a card like Beast Within only helps you when you draw it, there are no (efficient) ways to find cards that aren't creatures or lands in mono-green.

Emzed: You technically contextualized why it's powerful.

I've been playing the deck for a few weeks to great success, but I'm wondering about Marwyn, the Nurturer . Is she good enough to justify a slot?

August 8, 2019 9:10 p.m.

So, I have a question.... how is the matchup against Trassios/ Tymna Hulk variants? the deck has a great matchup against food chain combos if we draw an early stax piece (and they don't get to destroy it, that is...) but what do we do about hulk combo?

Necron_Maverick: We hope someone stops it first or make it to 2nd verse for Ravenous Slime .

August 20, 2019 12:33 a.m.

Inkmoth says... #19

Necron_Maverick: Ravenous Slime was removed since it's too slow, narrow, and bad as per Shaper. So I think it's just the former and hopw the stax keep them at bay.

Hi there.

Been following this thread now since end of 2018 and I just love this deck so much. Over time I did make a few little tinkers to the deck, mainly in adding a bit of a land destruction package. There have been times I can strip mine 3-4 cards a turn which really slows down anyone who is pushing ahead to a combo-kill or just getting to much value.

Hope you like this little layout and maybe it gives some inspiration for any other players.

Thanks again, and keep up the amazing work you, and the rest of the Yisan community put into this awesome deck.

What's the reasoning behind Thought-Knot Seer? I originally had thought it could combo with Temur Sabertooth and infinite mana but realised (thankfully before I tried to start it) that Thought-Knot seer is depending on colourless mana and doesn't work the way I want it to. Is it just to take a peek at a hand before going for the kill or to remove a tutored card at instant speed on ver

ShaperSavant says... #22

Frozocrone Mainly to strip board wipes and combo cards we can't otherwise interact with at instant speed. Probably our best response to Flash.

7starmarine says... #23

Frozocrone In the event you have infinite mana from bounce/untaps, we can make the colorless from Boreal Druid if it is accessible.

Emzed says... #24

Alternatively, when going infinite, you can repeatedly use Sol Ring or Mana Crypt by destroying them with Reclamation Sage and returning them with Eternal Witness to essentially create an untap.

Thoughts on cutting Somberwald Stag for Wicked Wolf and putting in Kenrith's Transformation for another card?
