is it just me or is Selvala, Heart of the Wilds a better option then Azusa, Lost but Seeking

I would also like to know why this list does not run selvala and great oak.
October 20, 2016 3:06 p.m.
ive looked into it and played with GOG and to be fair i think its just slower and clunky but im sure @Redrevenge3 will inform you why my opinion is wrong.

@troxax Selvala is an upgrade over Elvish Archduid / Azusa (My list has cut both of them).
Funny :). It depends what win con you are looking for. I think GOG is better than Craterhoof / Kamahl, but you could have a compelling reason why the opposite is true. I just haven't heard of it yet.

I've found trample to be relevant personally (why I won't cut Hoof)
October 20, 2016 7:12 p.m.
RedReveng3 says... #7
Trample is irrelevant because once we combo off we can just board wipe our opponents with Beast Within + Ewit + Temur. Then Somberwald Stag + Temur to clear the tokens.

Ohthenoises says... #8
That's multiple combos that we need to assemble. 1 card can do all of that.
October 20, 2016 8:45 p.m.
RedReveng3 says... #9
It's actually not multiple combos. Just 1 because once we assemble the Temur combo, we can just draw our deck with Regal Force.

Again, the simplicity of 1 card to just win the game is more than enough to win the game without complications.
That being said I will STILL run GOG and selvala but I won't cut Hoof cause TS just too simple to win with.

With Yisan we plan to assemble an infinite mana combo then use a creature tutor/Yisan to search up something to draw our deck. Infinite mana combos are very easy to assemble with Yisan (Surprised you don't go this route). Against top tier decks, craterhoof is way to clunky and a terrible top deck. GOG does the same thing, but also provides some extra utility.

lol I do go that route, I have said multiple times I ALSO run craterhoof meaning in addition to.

RedReveng3 I don't agree with cutting Craterhoof. Good decks demand you interact with them instead of tutoring infinite mana combos every game; Sabertooth also gets answered and it becomes difficult to assemble infinite mana and draw without lucking into an artifact. Craterhoof gives a clean win to lines that fetch creature control, and any time the deck gets to 8. It also allows you to one-shot players with Natural Order in the earlier turns. GOG is in testing as an addition to Craterhoof. Selvala seems weak in the relative.

The main downside to running GOG over Craterhoof is that it makes our deck rely heavier on Temur Sabertooth. However from my experience, if we are able to drop Temur Sabertooth, then we typically win shortly after. If our opponents have removal, then Yisan/Big Mana Dork are the targets over Temur Sabertooth.
When it comes to tutoring with Yisan, typically I can pull off the win at verse 7 because Regal Force let's us draw ~7 cards and then we can bounce and recast for more advantage. This makes verse 8 "win more". Natural Order into Craterhoof is awesome when it works, but then again we need ~8 creatures to allow us to kill an opponent and then there are 2 other players:[.
At first, I was skeptical of Selvala. I then tested her over Elvish Archdruid and I haven't looked back. If we have a board state of elves, then Elvish Archdruid taps for 3/4/5. If we verse 3 = Selvala and verse 4 = Temur, then Selvala taps for 3 which is equivalent to us having 3 elves on the field including EA. It's easier to combo off with Selvala since she goes infinite with Woodland Belower -> Wirewood Symbiote + CMC 1 elf. She also is a two card combo with Umbral Mantle. Lastly, she gives us some card draw.

@shapersavant any reasons why you cut Shaman of the Forgotten Way i sworn i saw him in here not too long ago. When i was play testing this version of your deck i bellowed and attempted to look for him as to use his formidable trigger but realize he wasnt in the deck lol...so i quickly changed my target and still won on my next turn luckily but was just wondering why it was cut.
October 25, 2016 12:02 a.m.
@shapersavant i also added Azusa, Lost but Seeking back to my personal list after playing more with selvala and i quickly noticed if i do that land start i want azusa on my third song

trorax He was in for a while, but I'm just really not a fan. I find if I can generate the resources to use him and win, I could just win another way. Does poorly against creature decks. I find infinites and Craterhoof to be a sufficient wincon package.
October 25, 2016 12:38 a.m.
yeah...i keep realizing, that as i play more with the deck where i want to play him, i just think of another way to win and realize just how little i need him.

Out of curiousity, why no Glimpse of Nature? Does this deck not run a combo turn?
November 1, 2016 6:30 a.m.
This deck generally prioritizes activating Yisan over casting creatures from hand. Glimpse of Nature can occasionally be useful, but then all it does is generate raw card advantage, which Yisan already provides. His tutoring, however, can set up targeted disruption or a specific combo, and do so at instant speed, as long as you have a decent amount of mana. Glimpse requires investing a lot of mana in your main phase, and is very dependend on your current hand. This deck wants most of its powerful but situational effects to be creatures, since those are easy to find when needed. That's why Regal Force is seen in some Yisan lists, but Glimpse hardly makes an appearance.

Hey so I really like your deck, and I was wondering if I could get your opinion on my deck, an adaptation of libraryjoy's deck, Yisan's Elvish Sing-Along, With a Twist!. Any advice would be appreciated, and while I am currently operating on a budget, non-budget cards would be great too. It's also of note that the main decks in my meta are control and aggro, with very little combo oriented play. Any and all suggestions would be accepted and I greatly appreciate your time! Glhf, and a +1 from me! :D

My LGS doesn't disallow infinite combos but everyone keeps their buy in packs instead of me getting them all if I go infinite so primarily just win with craterhoof so I get more prize support. That being said my build is closer to shapersavant's than redreveng3's cuz his is less comboey. This is basically all to say I feel like there are some dead cards in the deck since I basically can't use them cuz even if I don't go infinite if I assemble infinite they keep their packs. So I'm thinking of cutting umbral mantle and a few other cards (staff of domination) to keep them from being dead draws or costing me packs. Assuming my list is exactly like the above list (pretty close) what cards do you all suggest I add in or cut to resolve this? Thanks for your time and replies!

Hello ShaperSavant,
Would you consider making room for Yeva, Nature's Herald, Shimmer Myr, Thousand-Year Elixir and Endbringer? IMO, I find that flash and pseudo-haste to be very relevant to the deck, resilience and combo-wise.
December 10, 2016 2:24 a.m.
Ezerhorden um? Yisan is doing things at instant speed why would you need Yeva, whos already heavy at a four drop? Most of the time Shimmer Myr is a dead card in hand and the deck that is just wasting space.Getting Thousand-Year Elixir will never be consistent enough to be relevant on turn three where it would see most of its use and by turn three we should have an engine to untap yisan, from the creature base, already. What is Endbringer bringing that warrants taking out a 6-drop such as Woodland Bellower, Great Oak Guardian, or Bane of Progress? It seems like win-more.
December 10, 2016 7:40 a.m.
do you have a budget version of this deck under $350?
RedReveng3 says... #1
@Emzed I would stay away from Terastodon / Hornet Queen. Terastodon costs too much and if we reach verse 6 we can usually win the game on the spot. Hornet Queen adds 0 utility unless you run Craterhoof.
