My wording may have been faulty. I didn't mean use it to assemble infinite mana combo so much as use it after. Admittedly it would be luck of the draw but if it's a chance to hit temur and GOG one or two turns earlier would it be worth it?

@shapersavant I've been running wasteland and strip mine in my deck and have found them to be super useful in keeping opponents off wraths and such, especially combined with asuza, don't really run into any color issues either. Was wondering if you tried them and just found them unnecessary or what. Thanks.

@shapersavant
A few questions - Have you thought about adding Paradox Engine? Or is that too clunky because you're not actually casting spells and need the lands to untap?
What about Lightning Greaves, I'm sure you have a good reason for not including.
How has Yavimaya Hollow been for you? I have Cavern of Souls in the spot. It seems to be a meta call.
Can you explain your latest changes? The Natural State is important for me because a Grafdigger's Cage usually means game over. Why Wall of Roots? The Duplicant is my hard removal at the later verses, seems more value than Regal Force, which seems like win more rather than value.

Paradox Engine: By the time I can get it out, I hopefully already have my untap engines going. Feels ultimately clunky and win-more.
Lightning Greaves: Certainly viable if you're facing heavy spot removal. I cut it for more synergistic things.
Yavimaya Hollow: Somewhat of a pet card, but has some decent utility. Cavern is a fine meta-call too.
Natural State: Cutting it was a meta call. I don't see Grafdiggers, but it's a good option if you are.
Wall of Roots: Still testing, it lets you Yisan a bunch over a turn pass, as it makes mana each turn. Also produces mana immediately if you need to go right up the chain quickly.
Duplicant: My meta is low on creatures I need to remove and Stag hits the important things.
Regal Force: The best anti-boardwipe you can ask for in mono-G is drawing a bunch of cards to help rebuild.

What do you protect your creatures with? Removal and board wipes. Or do you just keep putting threats out?

Thanks for the reply.
Agreed on Paradox Engine. I will keep Lightning Greaves in for now. Haven't really gotten the opportunity to yet, but it seems good to be able to use mana dorks as soon as they come in.
Most of the time when my creatures die (in my meta), it's to Supreme Verdict or Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. Yavimaya Hollow probably wouldn't help, but I would put in if the number of situations where it would increases. I'll continue to use Cavern of Souls because there's always blue at the table and getting Yisan, the Wanderer Bard stuffed turn two sucks. This is the same reason I am keeping Natural State, it's a meta issue.
Wall of Roots sounds awesome, I'll try it as well. Verse five is always odd for me because it's almost always better for me to fetch Seedborn Muse at that count, turn around and Duplicant on their turn if needed. I almost never use Somberwald Stag unless I hard cast... Maybe this part is wrong and you can drop some knowledge regarding it.
Regal Force needs move convincing for me. After a wrath effect, my Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Gaea's Cradle are turned off and I usually don't have a ton of mana out. I will probably spit out 1-3 creatures after the wipe depending on mana, and is usually not enough for a Regal Force. Even if I do cast it, my turn is over and I draw 3-4 cards. Harmonize or Glimpse of Nature almost feels better. Using a verse on it also seems win more, unless the whole point is to do it before a wipe? I normally just lose right after a board wipe though, or crank my commander through the motions again to rebuild. (Unlikely.)

I've started to play Yisan recently and it has been a blast to play, so many things to think about not just tap and attack. I love your version of the deck.
Today I played agains a very good Akalia deck and it just wrecked me. I can't think about a good answer agains a deck that packs 8 wrath effects and heavy flying dragons/demons/angels. Any recommendations?
Thanks!

I've seen some people try Silklash Spider. Maybe you could give that a go.

Manglehorn Is this worth a spot when it comes out?
April 6, 2017 4:49 p.m. Edited.
I don't have the experience of shaper, but I'd very much think so. One sided artifact hate and 1 extra toughness for the low cost of not being an elf (compared to rec sage) seems well worth it. I'm wondering if you run both.

Manglehorn may get a spot, but it won't replace Reclamation Sage.

I'll definitely be adding a Manglehorn to my deck. It's a Reclamation Sage and half a Root Maze. It won't replace either but it will add a good deal of consistency to the deck.

HarroHunter It's in! It replaced Selvala. Won't be cutting Root Maze or Reclamation Sage any time soon.

ShaperSavant Really? Nice to see it found a place, but are you giving up on the Selvala, Heart of the Wilds + Great Oak Guardian line?

I'm not sure what I'd cut, but I don't think it would be Selvala.

HarroHunter She's not that strong until later verses when you have a a fatty. Priest (or Acolyte) makes a lot more mana comparatively unconditionally. Selvala doesn't feel great as a raw draw, and I don't like distributing card advantage if I don't have to. I very rarely wanted to take her lines; Manglehorn is a definite upgrade that I think will be quite useful.

So, what do we do about Protean Hulk? Is it worthy? My gut says yes but you're the master here Shaper.
April 24, 2017 5:04 p.m.
Ohthenoises - I highly doubt it - how do you plan to kill Hulk in this deck?
April 24, 2017 5:33 p.m.
Ohthenoises says... #21
Emzed before stating that with such certainty check the B&R announcement for commander.
I was thinking it would be great value with pod or an answer to a boardwipe.
In response to the wipe you could activate for 7 and rebuild with hulk's trigger.
April 24, 2017 6:29 p.m.
Oh i completely missed that announcement, sorry, my bad.
Hulk offers an interesting new dimension indeed, but with no reliable way to sac it, it seems a little unreliable.
April 24, 2017 8:43 p.m.
Unless the very specific scenario occurs where you put Hulk into play in responce to a sweeper, what does it do? In my experience, if you are able to search up a 7-drop, you are winning anyway. If there is disruption in the form of removal, you usually don't even reach that point.
While Hulk will look amazing when it works, i just don't see it working often enough. Admittedly, it has potential to be great when searched up by Natural Order, but i doubt that alone is reason enough to include it.
April 24, 2017 9:55 p.m.
Any comments on why include Wall of Roots? At 1 activation per turn is a little better than a mana dork.
ShaperSavant says... #1
HAMMARE T&N by itself doesn't assemble infinite mana. (The easiest being Wirewood + Sabertooth + big dork + elf).
If you're in the plan C mode of wanting to cast T&N, you probably don't have Yisan or a board capable of producing the necessary 9 + extra stuff anyway.
