Sideboard


This is my junk deck. Junk is another word for abzan, in case you didn't know that. This is a midrange deck that uses early hand control and later lifegain to hold out against grindy matchups and aggro. The perfect turn 1 is an Inquisition of Kozilek or a Thoughtseize. The main lategame grinder in this deck is the rhino, as shown here. Now I guess its time for all the card decisions. I think the lands are obvious. I need the fetches for stability, consistency and for goyf. A t1 fetchland gives goyf at least 1 power. I need the basics for if i get pathed or Ghost Quarter. I need my own Ghost Quarter for game 1 against tron. Now that tron dominates the meta, it really helps to have ghost quarter. The shocks are there for the 2 mana colors. card:Shampling Vent is a land that grinds very well, and is sorcery proof. It also gives me life which is needed in the late game. Inquisition of Kozilek and Thoughtseize are needed because they provide the turn 1 control i need to stay alive against aggro, destroy land searches for tron, remove other hand control, or anything that hurts me. Path to Exile: Its the best removal in the format. I don't think I need to say more. My other two pieces of removal are Abrupt Decay and Maelstrom Pulse. Decay is good because it gets rid of blood mooon(if i can get the basics in the first place or have 2 untapped lands) and it gets rid of goyf and other small threats. Against tokens, pulse can git rid of 4 spirits that are killing me. Liliana of the Veil is a card played in most or all modern rock decks. It kills bogles, many types of control, infect, burn and hurts almost every deck. The +1 kills their hand, and you can just discard souls. The -2 kills their creature, and the -6 destroys half their shit. deck:Kitchen Finks is a card that not that many junk decks have. It really does save me many games with the double lifegain and lots of chump blocking massive creatures. Scavenging ooze is here for control matchups and lategame when my goyfs and shit are destroyed. It can become very large, and gives me life. Nothing more to say really, its a creature that gets massive, gives me life, and eats my opponents recursion. I run 2 Painful Truths becaus ethey are insane. Late game, I get to pay 3 mana and 3 life for 3 cards. That is insane card advantage. I don't think I really need to explain Tarmogoyf. Its the best green card in the game. Siege Rhino is one of the main reasons to play junk. It is 2 mana for a helix, and 2 mana for a 4/5. Its just insane. Helps me grind a lot too and gets around bridge. Lingering Souls is just here to get at flyers and buy me some time by chump blocking. It can also be discarded by liliana. Tasigur, the Golden Fang is the last mainboard card to talk about. It has delve, which can make it come out for 1 mana as early as t3. My strongest play is t3 tasigur and goyf. It also gets me card advantage in the grindiest of grinds.
