I really like at least a few Chief of the Scale's and Obelisk of Urd's. Chief of the Scale really helps against some of the removal spells that might be in your way, as well as the fact that it also helps you to be confident enough in big game pushes. Obelisk of Urd is a fantastic card in this deck as well. I also love Rush of Battle . It has single handedly won me many games with my black/white warrior deck.

Have you considered running Athreos, God of Passage here? Ive got a build around him that's a lot of fun, Ill post a link if youd like to check it out for ideas! > Athreos' Devout Warriors Happy brewing!!

I'm thinking of Athreos, God of Passage as a sideboard card against control. Tough (sort of) to remove, punishes their removal. It doesn't seem like a good card against other creature-based decks since the board state will matter more than life or a card.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

I have a similar deck and in playtesting I found my greatest difficulty was pushing past blockers. For that reason I love Mogis's Marauder. To help out Battle Brawler I used some cheap white permanents in the form of Oppressive Rays and Banishing Light. Don't sleep on Rays, getting past early game blockers is a big deal with this deck and it also stops mana dorks like Elvish Mystic and Rattleclaw Mystic.

For whatever reason, Mardu Strike Leader has not been as useful as I'd hoped. The fact the token doesn't get haste doesn't help. It's great if their guys are all tapped though.

What about shadowspear?

February 18, 2015 9:10 p.m.

Goody says... #7

Mardu Shadowspear is too small of a body in my opinion. When I've already got 3 one drops with a 2/1 body, a 1/1 is just not worth it, since its ability requires it to attack. The dash is irrelevant in most matchups.

Oppressive Rays is an interesting possibility, but I think I like Suspension Field more

Hey, have you tried cutting 4 Tormented for +1 Hordechief, +1 Brimaz, and +2 Harsh Sustenance? Takes a bit out of aggro but ensures a turn 4 or 5 game.

Also, what's Seeker doing for you in this deck when you're playing mostly creatures?

Goody says... #9

I could see myself cutting the Seeker of the Ways for another Brutal Hordechief, Brimaz, King of Oreskos, and maybe a Bile Blight or Thoughtseize or something else.

I like having 12 2/1 one-drops though

Everyone playing these colors likes having 12 one drops.

I understand.

You should think about Archfiend of Depravity it wrecks all the big green ramp decks.

Interesting sideboard card. 5 mana is a lot for this deck though, not sure if it's worth it, especially since they get a full turn to deal with the creature before it triggers.

I'm very bad at recognizing what to side board in certain match ups... can you give some explanation to your sideboard

March 10, 2015 11:32 a.m.

Goody says... #16

A lot of the sideboard is still up in the air, I don't think that it's really finished, but I'll write up a more detailed explanation of my choices in the deck description.

I usually try to put in cards that will make my opponents' decks worse or mine better in specific matchups. That often involves specific types of removal (e.g. Erase against gods, Merciless Executioner against hexproof) and cards that make my deck better against theirs (e.g. Chief of the Scale against burn and Drown in Sorrow, Thoughtseize against control and combo).

this deck is amazing, the first game i play tested was 4 turn win

Haha thanks, I like it myself :)

I actually got first place last night at FNM, went 3-0-1 (drew against a control deck because I didn't scoop early enough when game 1 went long).

I'm currently making some changes to the maindeck, I'm gonna be adding in Blood-Chin Rager and Dragon Hunter, replacing Battle Brawler (probably) and Tormented Hero.

Thanks for the upvote!

get rid of woe reaper for the love of christ. if you are hurting for slots that bad just run a Citadel Siege or fun-of Spirit Bonds, but please.... there are so many better cards right now than a 2/1 that gains you life in an agro deck like this.

March 30, 2015 11:49 p.m.

Goody says... #20

Mardu Woe-Reaper is not only a 2/1 1-drop that gets in early game, it already serves as built-in protection against Delve and Whip of Erebos. It's a very good card IMO - I'd rather run it than other 1-drop warriors in the format right now. What would you suggest I replace it with? I feel that the deck needs its 1-drops, but have you had success running less than 11 2/1 1-drops in a deck like this?

March 31, 2015 8:17 p.m.

more arashin foremost. that card is a definite 4 of right now. your turn 1 is weaker yes, but arashin gets instant value and hits soooooo hard. here is the example... i play a battlebrawler > opponent thinks "not that bad" ill hold my burn" > play arashin swing for 6. now they are behind and have to deal with both threats, landing a brawler means any white you play is dangerous. arashin is as much of a "must-kill or i lose" as rabble. If you dont have enough pressure to stop a tap out(turn 4) dig through time you already lost.

Goody says... #22

I don't think the deck needs to win turn 4 against Dig every time, but I agree that foremost will probably be upped. My concern right now is with the mana base as I haven't playtested the deck after including the 2 copies I already have, and adding more 3-drops will make mana that much tighter.

If you need more reliable mana draw, you could add Mana Confluence. The only other pain land that is standard for this deck.

SiegeRhiNOOO says... #24

Don't know if this has been suggested to you yet, but how about some Radiant Purge? Works well against Rhinos, Ascendancies, and most of the dragons in DTK.

Those are both good suggestions and cards that I've been considering. Unfortunately I don't have either of them at the moment, but they'll probably be going in. Thanks for the upvote!
