I want to start playing with this deck, but I don't understand why sign in blood is here. Can someone explain its purpose in this deck?

Card draw for yourself, or can force them to draw cards to discard. I wouldn't recommend this deck against the current meta in standard, it's not consistent enough, imo. It was made a long time ago.

Tasigur's Cruelty can be cast for [b], especially if you have previously discarded with Dark Deal. One or two Necropolis Fiend might also work well as a solid flier and also as removal. I would recommend cutting the Black Cats to make room.

How about trading Master of the Feast for Squelching Leeches? It might give him a lot of power and toughness with 24 lands

If only Elixir of Immortality was standard legal still...

@reulini, Master of the Feast feeds the opponent's hand so you can force him to discard, powering this deck, plus he comes out at 1BB which is pretty darned sweet. Anything planned in the event an opponent's enchantment or artifact resolve?

My friend plays a deck like this, and if you're going to build around Waste Not, you REALLY NEED Mind Rot. it does amazing things for the card, same with Dark Deal and Tasigur's Cruelty.

I don't get Master of the Feast. Instead of trying to excessively combo out with Waste Not, why not just let them be resourceless and grind them out of the game? With that extra draw, you're giving them a window to recover, which is not going to be good for you if they do.

this is mean for standard. good work. I can imagine this wrecking house at an FNM.

The thing about Master is that none of the discard spells are instant (except for Kolaghan's Command which I might recommend splashing red for cause it's pretty good) and so if your opponent is just drawing one, playing one each turn, then all the 16 copies of discard spells in the deck are useless. Master gives you a 5/5 for only THREE mana and with the 16 discard spells, they don't even get the free advantage out of it! Plus its the only way to ensure fuel for the 4x Waste Not also.
Only thing I might suggest besides the command is more removal. You don't have many ways to deal with something if it manages to make it onto the board. Drown in Sorrow and Virulent Plague are good sideboard cards for you right now, while a few more Hero's Downfall and Murderous Cut in the main should make double sure that your opponent doesn't get to do anything.

Despoiler of Souls, IMO isn't a good fit for this deck, you want to be able to recur your creatures with Whip and Titan's ability, but to recur Despoiler of Souls you have to take away those creatures. I would drop Despoiler of Souls for something else.

On second thought, maybe he works, I don't think he is gonig to recur often, but at least he gives an early threat and is the only BB to add to devotion.

Despoiler of Souls is for devotion mainly, plus it's a 3 power attacker. If followed by Mogis's Marauder it's still 5 intimidate. Not bad on turn 3.

Std Mono Black DevotionThat is my take on MBD, I prefer Herald of Torment over Mogis Maurader and Erebos, there are just so many dual colored creatures, that I think the Intimidate might not come into play enough and your deck really doesn't run fast like Black aggro so the Haste is kinda meh. Erebos is also just dead against some decks and he really doesn't help towards the devotion. Also I like Read the Bones over Sign in Blood due to being able to cycle through more cards even if for one more mana.

I like Erebos, God of the Dead as a card draw engine, since we're missing something like Underworld Connections like we had last season. At worst he's Greed. A card-draw spell that stays in play when we have extra life/mana is very valuable in standard. He often becomes a 5/5 creature, which is icing on the cake. Read the Bones is great as a draw spell. It filters, which is nice. Sign in Blood is just more efficient. It can help you keep a 2 Land hand in some cases. I wanted more CMC 2 spells, so it fits the bill nicely. (It can also be a burn spell if the opponent is at 2 life, which is really funny.)

How does Whip of Erebos trigger Erebos's Titan's recursion?

Yeah, I was thinking that same thing.
Also, have you considered Pyxis of Pandemonium?
July 7, 2015 2:11 a.m.

Why Pyxis AngelofDivinity? It exiles from the top of library, ERebos's Titan only recurs if a card leaves the opponent's graveyar.

Not as a recursion engine- as a Gray merchant devotion flood.

Ah, it is a terrible card, and it gives your opponent stuff too, while you might flip 2 Garys, they might flip 4 siege rhinos. Pyxis's ability is also very expensive and... well it is made for kitchen tables, not even good in EDH.

It is actually bonkers in a deck built for it. Any deck that runs ETB effects is amazing with it. I used to run a mill deck with altar of the brood & profane memento and it simply won games end of story. I have a friend who runs it in an abzan rally the ancestors deck and it flips up for more than lethal damame.

I actually stopped playing this deck competitively. It started well, but the consistency was an issue for me too. There aren't enough enchantments that support discard in standard right now. It's too slow against aggro, gets stomped by control, and only does decent against midrange. If enchantments like Shrieking Affliction or Liliana's Caress were around in standard, this deck might work better. I started playing mono black aggro this week. It's a lot more consistent.
