Um theros had a new two drop that destroys artifacts or enchantments in white. I forget the name but that is a must include. Also for maindeck why funeral charm? Id swap them for Boros Charm because it has 2 primaryfunctions 1. It saves all permanites you control from being blown up. And 2 its able to kill the opponent with 4 direct damage. Um i could also see Lingering Souls so you have some form of defense and offense due ti flash back allowing it to be freely discarded. Could also try finding room for an extort mechanic such as Blind Obedience because now you slow aggro and you can keep ticking away at their life for playing your brige or burn spell while helping your own

Are you referring to Glare of Heresy ? That card is pretty terrible in Modern. Erase is so much better. I don't really like Blind Obedience because it just slows me down too. Lingering Souls is a possibility, but I'm actually reconsidering the white splash. The mana base is just too inconsistent, and the deck isn't really doing what I want it to do anymore. I'll probably go back to a simpler version.

No I was not and It I was Revoke Existence the white sorcery version of naturalize and yea te only way those decks ever stay consistent is of your willing to have 8-10 fetches to get the land you need

I'm not sure why Revoke Existence would be better than Wear / Tear ? The sorcery speed aspect hurts, and if the exile ends up being that crucial, I'll probably just run Erase .

I would cut out Waste Not and add 1 more land. take out 2 Lightning Bolt and add 1 Lingering Souls and consider something like Bitterblossom or another land + 1 more Blightning .

I am Def Worried about Leyline of Sanctity Not sure if it's worth splashing white in, Or just risking that they will not draw it in their opening hand. Sort of a dilemma. Sounds like you had enough trouble with it to make it worthwhile tho eh?

with blue you can try and bounce it with a Cryptic Command type thing.

September 14, 2014 10:02 p.m.

kmcree says... #8

Cryptic costs triple blue. Splashing for that makes no sense.

I've run in to a few problems against Leyline, so I just wanted to make sure I'm prepared. It absolutely kills the deck.

I'm backing off on the splash a little bit. Just using it for sideboard tech. None of the main board cards performed well enough to deserve slots.

BotaNickill says... #9

Yeah, I have Leyline in my Bogle deck, and it totally shuts down burn and discard. Thusly, A huge problem if I run into it. I'm considering upping to 20 mana. and splashing white for turn and burns. but its a tough call

How about splashing green for Hull Breach instead of white? Also gives access to Abrupt Decay ?

September 14, 2014 11:36 p.m.

kmcree says... #11

I think Wear / Tear is better than Hull Breach . Abrupt Decay is nice, but I don't think its really worth splashing for.

Ok man, I'm sold...I'm gonna run R/B for now, and see how it goes tomo, Prolly splash white for enchantment removal next time.

uiuiho12 says... #13

I was talking about bouncing effects in general, not Cryptic Command specifically. it's just the most famous example of a bounce spell. just proposing blue as another option instead of white. although you would need to play-test both.

I just think it makes more sense to go white, and remove the Leyline permanently, as opposed to bouncing it.

It's funny, I ended up letting my brother play my Naya/Bogles Deck at the Tournament last weekend, and I played against him in the third round, and he beat me the third game because he had Leyline of Sanctity in his opening hand. I also lost to a Goblin Guide burn deck, and a Living End cascade/cycling deck. Couldn't draw the necessary sideboard cards to save me in the 2nd/3rd games.... Oh well, Hoping for better draws next time! And I think I may have to splach white for Wear / Tear before I try this deck again.

What changes, if any, has Khans of Tarkir made you consider? The only big thing I can see is Mardu Charm which is maaayybbeee better than Blightning , trading raw power for increased versatility. Oh, and having an on-color fetch land in Bloodstained Mire is obviously amazing for this deck of course. Although...

Is there some universe in which Monastery Swiftspear is good in 8-rack, as a sort of "attacking rack"? She is cheap, she's hasty, and she grows from every spell you cast, discard or burn or even Racks. Plus she's a way to deal damage that doesn't make this deck roll over and die to Sanctity.

I haven't actually seen anything from Khans that really fits in here. Blightning is much stronger than Mardu Charm , as it discards 2 cards and can hit lands.

I don't really know about Monastery Swiftspear . I don't want to play anything t1 besides Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek , and if I play Swiftspear any other turn I'm not getting as much value. I think I'd rather have the discard.

As far as fetches, I'm torn. Having Bloodstained Mire is nice cuz it hits both my colors, but I don't actually have any mountains to search for other than Blood Crypt . Having Marsh Flats still allows me to search for either Blood Crypt or Godless Shrine , while giving me the flexibility to search a Plains if I decide to throw one in against Blood Moon or land destruction.

You can add a Sacred Foundry to be fetched by Bloodstained Mire

October 3, 2014 3:47 p.m.

kmcree says... #19

I'm not sure why that would help me at all?

October 3, 2014 3:49 p.m.

hawk1113 says... #20

Fair point on Swiftspear. I was wondering outloud, but I think making your deck immune to removal (and thus more likely to strand cards in hand where you can get value out of Waste Not) is probably also a major consideration.

Bloodstained Mire can also fetch Godless Shrine, ya know ;). And it would snag Sacred Foundry if you went that way, or basic Mountains for a Blood Moon 'board.

kmcree says... #21

The thing with lands is that since most of my deck is black, I want to make sure as many lands as possible tap for black. So it makes way more sense to use Godless Shrine to splash white than it would to use Sacred Foundry .

Looking at all of my lands, I don't have anything that could be fetched by Bloodstained Mire that I can't already fetch with Marsh Flats . However, Marsh Flats would allow me to fetch Plains , which I am strongly considering adding as a 1-of, against stuff like Blood Moon and also against something like Ghost Quarter .

and about Fall ? is a little beter than Wrench Mind

October 4, 2014 9:01 a.m.

kmcree says... #24

Hmmm, is Fall really better than Wrench Mind ? Not being able to hit lands is a pretty serious drawback, especially late game. My opponents tend to try to hold extra lands in hand to avoid damage from Shrieking Affliction and The Rack , so I really need something to deal with that. The only matchups where Wrench Mind is subpar are Affinity and Tron, and I have plenty of sideboard stuff to swap in for those games.

No dont remove wrench. Its a superb discard spell that like as you said has plenty of cards you can replacd it with if they run artifacts. The card is not something to remove from your deck
