$25, otherwise I would have paths. And honor the pure.

25 dollars is rough, even for a bw token deck...And you would probably be better off with Midnight Haunting as opposed to Spectral Procession. spectral requires a very strict Mana base.
April 13, 2015 9:48 a.m.
True, I'll change that. The extra token helps sometimes though
April 13, 2015 10:09 a.m.
Spectral is definitely the better card, but you have to have a very good manabase to support it unfortunately. Also Dismember is a very good card, I would run 2 instead of Devouring Light.

I'm not completely sure, but is Secluded Steppe even modern legal?
April 20, 2015 10:07 a.m.
What is your budget? Take a look at B/W Token Budget as well.
April 20, 2015 10:56 a.m.
This is a casual build so it doesn't matter if it's modern or not. But it's only legacy because it's so old, not because it's too good. So my meta is okay with it. And, my budget is about $30 without the godless shrines.
April 20, 2015 11:48 a.m.
Use Duress and Despise for hand disruption then. Tidehollow Sculler should replace Castigate. Raise the Alarm and Spectral Procession should be 4 ofs. Dismember is a better form of removal as well that's cheap.
April 20, 2015 11:54 a.m.
You might want to consider Timely Reinforcements instead of Midnight Haunting. Yeah, the tokens may not have flying, but it'd be a means to stabilize if you're ever in a losing situation for the same mana cost.
April 27, 2015 12:54 a.m.
I probably wouldn't run it as a 4 of. Too many would just cut into my standard token generators. Might be sideboarded.
April 27, 2015 1:40 p.m.
Timely Reinforcements is a great sideboard card against burn. Looks pretty solid!

Take out Elspeth, Sun's Champion. It's no good for modern. You should also be running a minimum of 23 lands. There are better options than Suture Priest as well. For removal, Dismember is both very good and very cheap. Take out Devouring Light and Mortify.
May 15, 2015 2:44 p.m.
Elspeth, Sun's Champion is fine for my casual meta. I do get up to 6 mana often enough since the decks in my meta are nowhere near tier one. My meta is actually pretty enchantment heavy, so mortify needs to stay mainboarded, and I'm not fond of the double phyrexian of Dismember. Devouring Light can also be cast when I'm tapped out, and even creatures with summoning sickness can be used to convoke. So, it has excellent synergy with intangible virtue and spectral procession. I am looking for a replacement for Suture Priest though. Something with CMC =1 would be ideal, though I do like having my opponents lose life whenever they play creatures. I am currently looking at Soul Warden. Thoughts?
May 15, 2015 6:40 p.m.
ojmandias, not that the lifegain is even necessary, but both Soul Warden and Soul's Attendant are fine for gaining you life.
May 15, 2015 6:45 p.m.
Gaining life isn't all that important overall though. You really want to be playing a hand disruption card on turn one.

I agree with xzzane. Hand disruption is a must, especially since you don't want to see someone dropping Pyroclasm or some other ridiculous mass removal. I would max out on Duress and add Tidehollow Sculler. To be safe, I would also include Dismember and maybe even Mana Tithe to handle extra threats.

Disregard what I said about Dismember. I was stupid and just read your first comment.
May 16, 2015 9:52 p.m.
Don't add Mana Tithe, much better choices out there for the deck.
May 16, 2015 10:01 p.m.
Mana Tithe is unique. It might not always work, but when it does it works well.
May 17, 2015 7:37 a.m.
Unique does not equate good. There are far better cards for bw tokens that are useful at all times.
May 17, 2015 11:21 a.m.
Urborg is a bad idea. We done need that level of Mana fixing and you'll end up helping your opponent more in cases like abzan.

What is your budget for this deck?
