A Mono-Blue Sphinx's Tutelage Mill deck I have been brewing. Aiming to go long game.
The Mill Suite
Sphinx's Tutelage. Every Mill deck uses this.
Startled Awake
. Awesome reoccurring mill card. I shall mainly be using this to go for the throat once an opponent has 13 cards in their deck. If I play this too soon then I leave myself open and my counters are no good.
The Draw Suite
This deck actually has a lack of draw spells. I aim to only draw as instant speed as I'd rather leave mana up for counter magic and then draw on end step.
Oath of Jace draw three, discard two, with potential for scry. Great for mill with also filling the graveyard for potential Jace shenanigans.
Catalog draw two, discard one. Perfect for draw and more importantly is instant speed.
Hydrolash small amount of draw but also helps me take less damage. Fantastic as there is a lack of creatures and aggro decks shall be a problem.
Jace, Unraveler of Secrets. I have placed this Jace under draw as I will mainly be using him for draw, but also with some bounce.
The Counter Suite
Void Shatter, Negate + Clash of Wills. All good counter spells. Clash is fantastic as well as can be used cheaply to counter my own spell for 0 to instant speed transform Thing in the Ice.
The Creature/Alternate Win Condition suite
Thing in the Ice
serves as solid blocker, if I can keep him alive with counter magic then I can ride him to victory with mass bounce and damage.
Sphinx of the Final Word. Great in the mirror, also a solid 5/5 hex proof flyer that can quickly reduce an opponents life points.
Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
he does everything for me. Allows for more Tutelage triggers, and also let's me recast my draw spells, bounce spells and mill spells.
Finally we come to ...
Engulf the Shore didn't really fit into any other category. But this card is fantastic in a deck with heaps of islands and this fogs my opponent for one or two turns and allows me to buy time for more mill.
